Formerly a street rat of the Brume, known by various names, Mindy was adopted. She now lives in Summerford with her two very awesome mothers. She's still got a lot to learn and a lot of growing to do.
General Background
Kiddo was born to a woman, out of wedlock. Her mother said her father was a soldier, who'd left to go to fight some war. Probably the Dragonsong War. When Kiddo was five, the Calamity hit, and the major freeze killed her mother. After that, she was collectively raised by other Brume residents and those in the orphanage, until she was eight. At that point, she ran from the orphanage, determined to find work and make her own way. Since then, she's learned and grown a lot. She took to looking for work wherever there's some sort of drama or business going on. Such as the preparations for Nidhogg's final attack on the Steps of Faith. Adventurers bring a lot of coin and often need a small pair of hands and quick feet, to run otherwise unimportant errands.
About a moon after turning twelve, Kiddo was offered work with Rinh Amariyo's archaeological expedition. After accepting this, Rinh began teaching her to properly read and write. She also introduced Kiddo to Nimie Valeroyant. A couple moons after this, the couple make the choice to adopt Kiddo as their daughter, naming her Mindy Valeroyant. Now she lives with them and is continuing to learn from them. She still occasionally travels back to Ishgard to see her friends in the Brume.

This is a Tumblr only universe, where Brume Orphan has recently wound up being recruited to Skysteel Manufactory. She more or less is being tutored by Joye, in the arts of machinistry.

Names
Brume Orphan has no birth name. Her mother had deluded herself into thinking that the father would eventually return. (spoilers: he didn’t) So, she told her daughter that her father would name her. So, before anyone asks, her mother just called her Sweetie. It’s the closest thing kiddo’s got to a birth name. What people who know Brume Orphan the closest, who knew her mother, who remembered her as a small child, would know, and quite possibly call her Sweetie. She doesn’t correct them. It sounds like a nickname and doesn’t give away that she doesn’t have a real name.
So, one would think they’d choose their own name at this point, right? Well, kiddo still thinks Papa’s coming back. She thinks he’s gonna come back from whatever war he’s fighting and take her to his home and his family. And that he will then give her a name. In her own mind, she calls herself Sweetie. So, what does she do when other people ask for her name? She lies. Kiddo tries to remember and keep track of what names she’s given out. But she’s likely going to get herself caught in that lie eventually. Where this goes, we’ll find out. ;3
While being adopted, Kiddo came clean to Rinh and Nimie about her name. She'd introduced herself to them as Mindy. And so, they decided as a family, to keep Mindy as her name, while giving her Nimie's surname. And so, Mindy's false naming spree has come to a close. Unless she thinks you're suspicious. Then you might get a fake name anyway.

Up here, she'd only likely be recognized as another faceless street rat. The chances of being familiar with anyone is super low. But she does come up here from time to time. So the possibility is there.

Either she's the kid looking for work, or that thief that occasionally steals an apple or two.

Now that Ishgard has opened its gates to the outside world, she's had the chance to run into non-natives. These situations are probably more specific.

Hi! I'm a mid 30s stay at home sort. I'm in the Pacific Time Zone (west coast US). As a result, I'm three hours behind the usual east coast times listed for events and such.
