Physical Appearance: Popito Popoto is a very stern and stoic lalafell; more likely than not seen with a frown or scowl across his features. He comes across as serious and sullen, and reserves smiles only for those he trusts or is close with, and even then only rarely. When Popito smiles, his face softens and his smile is more a curl of the cheek that forms a half-smile and looks almost sad, or wistful. He stands at 3 fulms and 2 ilms, which is unusually tall for lalafell, with striking emerald-green eyes framed within an oval-shaped face that looks somewhat thinner than the cherubic roundness of the rest of his race. This face goes on to be topped with a shock of chestnut brown hair that is worn straight and uncomplicated, though a bit longer than he’d like. (So long as it remains out of his way and out of his eyes, he’s not too bothered by it.) During his tenure as Chief of Staff at the Palazzo, Popito has tied his hair back in a neat queue in an effort to remain presentable. Popito is a physical Lalafell, and is accustomed to labour-induced sweat, whether it’s from fighting monsters or working long bells in the sun. Popito is used to getting down and dirty, and has no problems with a little grime. He understands social expectations, and previously viewed bathing as a luxury to be enjoyed, rather than a necessity. This lax behaviour regarding personal hygiene does not extend to his equipment; weapons and tools must be thoroughly cleaned and oiled after use, armor wiped and brushed, and gear stowed in meticulous order. Since taking on the mantle of the Palazzo's Chief of Staff, Popito has taken to his presentation with the same diligence he extends to his battle gear, and makes it a point of personal pride to be the very picture of propriety when working. Popito’s in about as perfect shape as a Lalafell can expect to be, given a background of physical labour on the farm, followed by his active adventuring and his style of fighting.
Scars & Markings: Popito has a small collection of various scars across his arms, chest, back, and legs thanks to his very physical combat style, but these scars are generally hidden beneath layers of clothes and armor. Popito has been very lucky so far to not have incurred any scars on his face after all this time, but would likely regard any such injuries with apathy. Popito does have pale freckles on his cheeks, and of all his markings, these are what he secretly hates the most. (If directly addressed about his freckles, Popito is apt to respond with cold indifference in order to mask his bashfulness.)
Voice: Popito's voice is quite low for a lalafell. It is a smooth and simultaneously dark sound, with a slight rasp, and has once been described like "an apricot dipped in chocolate" (much to his embarrassment.) He speaks with the hint of a farmer’s accent, but not the “country twang”. Though he grew up in Limsa Lominsa, he’s been on land his entire life, and did not pick up the common sailor’s speech. Popito takes his time to choose his words. He does not speak quickly, unless he’s barking commands during a fight, which can sound clipped and harsh. In general, Popito doesn’t talk much or laugh much, preferring only to speak when directly addressed, and would rather listen and hold his tongue than voice his opinion if he’s not specifically in command. When he does speak, it’s short and to the point. His choice to refrain from speaking comes from a personal acknowledgement that he’s not well-educated, and believes there are others that are better equipped to work with words than he. The rare times that Popito feels a laugh, it tends to be a closed, throaty chuckle.
Clothing: Popito dresses for function, not form, and if one were to encounter him out in the field, Popito would almost always be seen in battle-ready armor. While previously he had preferred lighter scale mail or a plate cuirass over leather, the lalafell has recently taken to a custom-commissioned suit of heavy plate mail in the Ishgardian style. Even in more casual situations, Popito's idea of dressing down is selecting a lighter piece of armor; though since joining the Palazzo, his closet has expanded ever so slightly to include the occasional dress shirt and trousers combination. When discharging his duties as Chief of Staff within the Palazzo Aldenard, Popito trades his suits of armor for an immaculately-pressed formal suit in morning dress, complete with black tailcoat and matching trousers.
EMOTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Mannerisms/Demeanor: Popito can come off as cold and unsociable. He does not have many friends, and isn’t really out looking to make any. He’s not particularly mean or aggressive, but being so withdrawn makes it difficult for others to approach him. Events in Popito’s past have deeply jaded him, leaving him with a hard exterior and a declination to let others in. Those that have managed to get past Popito’s walls, he defends zealously, and he will immediately jump to their defense, whether from words or physical harm. Popito is incredibly introverted, more often than not seen with a frown on his face. He keeps his guard up and views others with suspicion. If one were to approach him, they’d find him short (haah) and terse, direct, and eager to get on, rather than banter with small talk. Privately, Popito acts slightly less frowny. Popito is quiet, but really does appreciate the company of his close friends. If one were to see him like this, they’d probably note that he looks less angry and more sad. In a crisis, Popito is quick and decisive to action. Popito instinctively understands battle, and his eyes will dart back and forth constantly scanning the environment and his situation. Being in a crisis allows Popito to focus everything into the conflict, and to shut out any outside interference. His switch to greatsword and dropping the shield has not changed this philosophy, and Popito will throw himself into the fray, forsaking his own well-being for the defense of his allies. This no-nonsense-all-business attitude carries on into his work life, where Popito leads the upkeep and service of the Palazzo. He is strict and expects excellence, but is just as likely to help his staff with the work as he is to bark at them.
