General Information Raphael is the illegitimate child of Léon, the eldest son of House Sibaruse and Aurelie, a distant niece of House Durendaire. Having fallen in love with that dissolute and libertine playboy, Aurelie gave birth to a boy but soon received the news that Léon died from machination. Raphael was forced to give away to the House Aubespine, whose only comfort was Aurelie's occasional visits and his adoptive grandparents' care at his bullied youth. Raphael studied magicks in Saint Endalim's Scholasticate, after which he joined the Tribunal where he gradually gained a reputation as "The Merciless Justice". However, five years later in the Coerthas Raphael was revenged by heretics, who summoned voidsents by tearing a veil between the Source and the Thirteenth, where Ferid, merely a drifting soul in the Void, was accidentally pulled in and occupied Raphael's body. At such two halves of a sundered soul became completer. ❝ Your lives are flowers in the mirror, moon in the water. Grand but short. ❞ Appearance Raphael is a slender Elezen male with citrine curly hair who possesses rather androgynously handsome look. There is always an aura of flattery and sweet rose around him, intentionally or not. Hair & Eyes Raphael resembles his late father to every extent except for their hair colours, which is inherited from his mother. Especially the captivating azure pupils of Raphael's are one of a thousand prides of House Sibaruse, whether he appreciates such a disputable heritage or not. Physique & Markings Having seldom left Ishgard and surrounding areas, Raphael possesses snow pale skin just as other local Ishgardians. Compared with his fellow knights, however, Raphael remains a slim or even seemingly fragile figure which is to a greater extent attributable to his dependence on excellent mastering of defensive magicks. Sometimes Raphael is easily mistaken for a fair lady from the back when wearing casual attires. Hygiene & Attire Raphael is always willing to go extra lengths for his aesthetic taste. (PLD-ish) In public, Raphael would remain as an elite Holy knight of the Tribunal, to avoid unnecessary attention. Both this well-trained borrowed body and his own wide-ranged knowledge enable him to wield excellent defensive and restorative magicks to make up his lack of physical attack damage. (DRK-ish) However, once Raphael is out of everyone's view when he deems as necessary, he would freely reveal his darkness-driven power enhanced by temporarily tearing a veil between the Source and the Thirteenth and become more aggressive. ● Research Fields: Soul transformation; Soul "recreation" by weaving together memories and wishes of the deceased. ——"One can only be dead if he is forgotten." Unlike those who constrict themselves to a single school of magic, Raphael studies magics from all fractions, among which he gains particular enjoyment from "soulcraft" and its byproduct "memory manipulation" (extracting and giving a physical form to one's memory). He is also capable of basic temporal magicks such as "Slow", "Quick"(Swiftcast), and "Haste"(Triplecast). Raphael's tricks under his sleeve at later stage are space magick "Meteor"(BLM LB) and temporal magick "Restoration"(WHM LB). Soulcraft benefits party members who possess Dark Side by influencing their living aether and thus keeping them at bay. ● Fruits of Work (to be continued): Phase One -> Stabilising the subject's aetherflow by potion "Soul Tonic" Phase Two -> Summoning a voidsent or sineater-like familiar to provide the subject with astral or umbral aether needed; Phase Three -> Forming a condensed aetherial web with the blessings of all six elements to both seal the subject's movement and cleanse his soul. When lingering in Yanxia, Raphael took a glimpse of Geomancy and learnt nine kinds of charms to store and release eastern elemental magicks (game-wise Ninja ninjutsus).
