Basic Information

Rhuya Lanbatal is a female Hyur Midlander, a self-proclaimed Seeker of Truths and servant to her lady The Keeper. In essence she is a scholar that seeks out lore and legends pertaining to her guardian - Menphina, the Lover.

Features:	Her left cheek bears a butterfly tattoo (a symbol of her marriage). Her body hides many marks and other secrets that are perhaps signs of a past life.
Clothing Style:	Rhuya is generally seen in long flowing skirts made of the finest fabrics, though practicality may sometimes dictate otherwise. She prefers black and/or white clothing as opposed to bright colours.

Personality

Rhuya exudes a strong and confident lady-like demeanour.

Subject to years of torment and abuse, she has a dark and twisted side that few get to see and that she keeps hidden behind her lady-like persona. Maintaining this persona is paramount to her. At times she has a somewhat mixed-up moral-code though in general she follows a respectable path. Due to her background, Rhuya is fiercely defensive of those she loves.

Rhuya's Grandmother, who is spoken fondly of by Rhuya. Elhza is a woman she looks up to and is the only member of Rhuya's family she has any kind words for. Rhuya has chosen to name one of their daughters after her.

Rhuya's wife and love. They met in Ul'dah shortly after Rhuya first arrived in the city. Rhuya spotted the girl, and in her usual way, insisted Kiht help her search for some old books she was seeking. The pair soon formed a strong and initially unspoken bond. Since then, their relationship has blossomed and they eventually married at the Sanctuary of the Twelve, under The Keeper's watchful eye. Kiht is now pregnant and they're expecting twin daughters.

Febriel De'drine (Miqo'te / Seeker of the Sun ♀) ●
A friendly and good natured young Miqo'te, and lover of all things pink, who is usually seen in the company of Mimiko Miyuki. Febriel is a good friend of the Lanbatals, and while not a frequent visitor, her company is always welcomed.

An outgoing and excitable young Miqo'te, usually seen in the company of Febriel De'drine.

Rhuya's closest and dearest friend. The pair soon gained an unbreakable bond of love and friendship, and since leaving The Laughing Lady Friederike has moved in with Rhuya and Kiht. The three of them now share a special relationship and living arrangement.

Dark Beginnings

Rhuya was the second daughter of a lowly noble family that hit hard times and sold her into slavery to save the family estate. She was subject to years of torment and abuse by her owners and put to work in ways a lady should not be made to work. Through some miracle, and what she claims as guidance from The Keeper, she managed to escape and regain her freedom, thus gaining her love of poisons and her unwavering devotion to The Keeper.

The years following her captivity involved her surviving by any means she could, until she eventually found her way home, back to her family's estate. It was here amongst the bodies of her family and farmhands that she finally found a long sought peace. With vengeance sated she left her estate and headed for Gridania.

(Note: Rhuya seldom talks of her past and only someone extremely intimate with her will likely find out the truths of what was done to her during those dark years.)

Cherished Memories

A few fleeting moments of Rhuya reminiscing about her past and in particular her family.

Of Her Mother...

Rhuya and Friederike were in the company's library, tidying up the books and had just finished an almost heated discussion about the relevance (or lack of) of books not to do with The Keeper.

Rhuya glanced to her left and let her eyes feast on the grand piano besided the two women. "Can you play Friederike?" She asked softly and ran her hand lightly over the dark polished wood of the piano.

"A little." Friederike responded with a light smile. "What about you Rhurhu?"

Rhuya smiled to herself, still finding it endearing how her girls called her Rhurhu instead of using her proper name or title. "It has been a long time since I played." She smiled as she walked the length of the piano. "My mother taught me. She insisted every young lady should be able to play an instrument. That was before she sold me of course."

"W-Will you play something for me Rhurhu?" Friederike asked politely.

With a smile Rhuya nodded and with an elegant twirl, and slight flick of her skirt, she was sat at the piano looking every bit the perfect lady she was raised to be. Rhuya ran her fingers over the keys and looked up at Friederike, a somewhat malicious smile forming on her pale lips. "The last time I saw my mother she was playing the piano. It was a beautiful moment and one I shall cherish always."

Friederike smiled, as the conversation started to take a lighter tone.

"Mhmm.." She nodded and ran her fingers over the keys once more then sat there staring at them as if seeing something that perhaps wasn't there. "I remember it well. It was late in the afternoon and she was sat playing her favourite tune and didn't notice me walk up behind her." She chuckled more to herself than anyone else. "You should have seen the confusion in her eyes when she saw the keys turn red. It was quite delightful. And as I held her, she was able to see it was her youngest daughter that had sliced her throat. It was a beautiful moment Friederike."

The young girl nodded but didn't say a word, she didn't know what to say.

"I am glad I was able to repay her kindness to me all those years ago." Rhuya then started playing. It was a beautiful, if not haunting tune, and her fingers glided elegantly across the keys as she played. Friederike smiled and rested her head on her mistresses shoulder as she listened to her play.

Of Her Sister...

Rhuya was sat by the hot springs with her girls. They had just shared a pleasant picnic and discussed how their small family was growing, when Rhuya stood up and walked to the water's edge.

"I like the water, it is quite peaceful don't you think? Hmm? My sister used to like the water. She would spend all day down by river that flowed through the lower fields of our estate. Did I tell you about my sister?" She said softly, somewhat lost in her thoughts.

Kiht and Friederike jumped up and went to stand beside Rhuya. "No mistress, you didn't!" they chirped.

With a feint smile, and slight nod, Rhuya continued. "The last time I saw my sister was in the water. I had just found my way back to our estate and I knew she would be down by the river. She didn't see me of course, she was too busy swimming and lazing in the river."

She glanced back to her girls, her eyes almost void of feeling as she recounted her tale. "The last thing she saw was her cherished little sister slicing her throat. It was quite delicious, you should have been there!"

The two girls looked at each other with concern and hugged their mistress, offering her some small comfort from her morbid tale.

"Have you ever seen a river turn red? It is a beautiful sight. It reminds me much of red wine." She said softly as she took a sip of her drink and smiled warmly as she wrapped her arms around her girls.
