[edit]
The man known as THE RAVING RAVEN is a magitek engineer formerly serving the Garlean Empire, before becoming lost in Eorzea following the wake of the Calamity. He has made a small reputation for himself as a free-spirited adventurer, primarily in La Noscea and the Black Shroud, where his sharp eye and quick wit has netted him many a kill against wild game, beastmen, and criminals. His new life of adventure has led him on many an odd sun, including meeting a Lieutenant of the 81st Maelstrom Foreign Levy, and his new future among what could be an actual family...if they don't kill him for his past.
Raven is short for an Au Ra male, just above six fulms in height. His jet-black hair is commonly double-braided on both sides in the front, while the rest is kept swept back and spiky. Obsidian scales frame his face and beak-like nose, while the dravanian horns on the side of his head are focused forward, tipped with metal caps. He commonly dresses in coats left unopened, revealing his bare chest, with dark trousers and long boots to gird his legs. His jagged spade tail stands oddly still, a stoic among the otherwise jovial and constantly-smiling man.
Knowledgeable. Sarcastic. Willful. "Random" has also been a word commonly used to describe Raven, as the man seems content to ramble or engage in a sudden non-sequiter with little provocation. As of working with the 81st, he has seemed to settled down on this slightly, but still usually maintains a playful and teasing attitude, especially around those whom he might be able to verbally spar with. Those who engage with him long enough to see past this personality would find a man who has a burning passion for his work, and a desire to help others in his own, avant-garde way. Despite claims otherwise, he is known to be a risk-taker, and especially enjoys gambling, be it in Golden Saucer games, the results of his lab work, or (less often) fights for his life.

Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that CHARACTER has been a part of. This list is by no means all inclusive, and serves more as a general reference as to what HE/SHE has been up to.
The Au Ra knew nothing of his clan, his parents, or even his name. His first memory was of the orphanage he was raised in, in the heart of the empire. Dark hair and a beak-like nose garnered him the name "Raven" among the other children, originally an insult, but one he took as his own identity. Outside the orphanage, the steam of magitek factories hung in the air, gracing the Xaela boy with glorious images of freshly manufactured Reapers and Vanguards, rolling out of the assembly lines on their way to war with the savage enemy, uncultured and untamed, wrought with the dangerous false gods that might destroy their empire. HIS empire. He was to be drafted when he was 16. He approached the factories a cycle before and volunteered to serve Garlemald by learning their trade. He was to be drafted at the age of 16. He approached the factory chief a cycle before, offering to serve the empire by learning their trade. Happy enough to work with the wondrous machines he had spent his childhood admiring, he ignored the sneers and cutting remarks about his horns or his tail, and worked harder than any other there to prove not only his competence, but his passion to the craft. It took years on the assembly lines, learning how to build the smaller arms like rifles and gunblades first, before he was cleared to work on the mechanical behemoths he loved so much. Eventually he grew beyond even that, learning the nature of aether and how to manipulate it with their nation's superior technology. As he neared the chance to begin designing his own weapons and armor, the war effort escalated to a massive clash at Carteneau, and they needed every tech to assist in the field repair of their mechanical monstrosities.
Madness. It was the only word he could use to describe what had happened. A moon falling from the sky? A PRIMAL, the very enemies of the Empire, awakening from it? The fact that the Empire itself would resort to such a thing? Such thoughts sounded preposterous to his horns, but his eyes had seen it all. His very belief in the land he lived in was shaken to the core, and he knew that, if he ever went back, his now-doubting thoughts would get a gunblade shoved through his heart. Probably one he built with his own hands. Even if he could go back, he had no knowledge how. The destruction had left him stranded in the savage, unknown lands of Eorzea. The land of the enemy, away from his comrades and from shelter.
And so he struggled to survive in the harsh lands, ridding himself of anything that would mark him as a Garlean, and living off of the land as best he could to stay out of civilization. For years, he traveled, taking small jobs for what little gil might provide food and shelter he could not forage, and eventually learning the way of the society that was once his enemy. As he grew in knowledge and skill, his body became less tense around the people, and he reacted less to the barbed words they might throw at Garlemald. Not all of them were false, after all, he had come to realize. Eventually, he started to enjoy the life he had made, and soon was working out from the Drowning Wench as a full-fledged adventurer, studying the style of the Arcanists for a time, learning their own designs on aether and how it worked. Eventually after gaining full citizenship in Limsa Lominsa, he moved to Gridania, practicing the bow to further hone his combat skills so he could dedicated himself better to the adventurer's lifestyle.
He would call it the best horrible thing to ever happen to him. Bored with the simple bow, Raven began to accost the Imperial castrums on the outskirts of Eorzea, hoping to take the scrap cermet and aether crystals from fallen armor in fashioning a better weapon that he was more familiar with, even after years of simple hunting. It was there that he was assaulted by a mysterious assailant, whom he technically failed to fend off, before not before recognizing her as a Mi'qote Keeper he had befriended. Sorrowful for attacking a friend, she left him in the Quicksand with a bag of gil and a letter of apology, but took a crystal he had managed to collect to use for his design for an aether-powered firearm. Furious, and a little curious, Raven askwed around for the woman, and eventually came across the 81st Maelstrom Foreign Levy. there, he "introduced" himself to the free company, and came upon an agreement that he would recieve assistance in building his weapon design as reparation for the assault he received. during his time there, he befriended some of the people in their "family", and even ended up revealing his past to one of them, despite her being a known hater of Garleans. Fortunately, she understood that he was a good man, and with her help, he was able to find courage and admit his former life to the rest of the group, hoping to join them and find a new life for himself. Time will tell whether he is accepted, or executed...

Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular:
