His skin is a dark olive shade, due to his heritage, as well as the time he spends outside. Aside from muscles, his body is covered in scars, varying in style and size, leaving barely an ilm of otherwise smooth skin between each one. The most notable are he large crater of missing skin above his heart, and the three smaller missing masses along his back. just right of his spine. His black and blue hair reaches well beyond his shoulders. Both out of style and practicality, he has a majority of it braided, allowing a bang over his right eye. From far away, his irises seem to be completely jet-black, however, with closer inspection, one would see they are a darker brown. Encircling his jaw is a rough beard, trimmed to about half an ilm. </p> |

Carefree. <i>Compassionate.</i></b> Towards almost everyone he meets, Josiah give off a calming aura. He typically keeps his words to himself, but shares his smile to all around him. When left to his own devices, Josiah spends most of his time enjoying the world around him, or tending to his gear and Chocobo companion, and on rare occasions, reading a book. He's not one to start conflict, but he's more then glad to end it, usually taking on the role of a mediator. However, if he sees someone whom he sees as innocent about to be harmed, he will always intervene. With those he's more comfortable with, he presents a more goofy side, tending to joke around or roughhouse with his companions. The man holds no loyalties to flags or ideals. Though he may be a free Paladin, it's his respect for individuals that earn his loyalty. Surprisingly to others, his reputations with some guardsmen has been less then favorable because of this. </p> |

As far as he knows, his mother's family had lived in a small Corerthas hamlet for a few generations. As long as he could remember, his father had been missing from his life. When he asked his mother, or any of the other villagers, he was told he was a great and kind adventurer, albeit fairly unknown. Throughout his early life, he was told of some of the deeds his father preformed, always leaving him awestruck. Whenever he asked where his father was, the unanimous reply was that he was living another adventure, making the world a better place for his son and collecting coin to bring back. Every year Josiah was hopeful his father would come back, with stories of trials and tribulations, and enough coin to put him and his mother in the lap of luxury for the rest of their days. But he never did. Still, Josiah hoped and dreamed, and because of that, he made the decision to follow his father's footsteps.</p> |

There were only a dozen other children in the village, however, they all were farmer's children, and Josiah hardly had a chance to interact with them. Most of his early education came from his mother. While it was nothing sophisticated, she was able to teach him most of the basic knowledge about the world. How to read and write, mathematics, and common history about Eorzea. However, the most important lesson she was taught him, was compassion. While the stories of his father's selflessness introduced the idea, his mother always made sure he knew what it meant, and how it was done. Whenever he fought with another child, or he caused any trouble, she would always guide him with a kind, sometimes strict, hand. </p> |
− | <p>To both better the world like his father was doing, and to make him proud once they met, he began to offer his hand to anyone around the small village, once he was old enough. From farming to housework, Josiah did whatever needed to be done, and while he usually didn't ask for compensation, he typically received some form of it. | + | <p>To both better the world like his father was doing, and to make him proud once they met, he began to offer his hand to anyone around the small village, once he was old enough. From farming to housework, Josiah did whatever needed to be done, and while he usually didn't ask for compensation, he typically received some form of it. By 15, he had finally saved enough Gil through the years to be able to afford a blade and passage to Ul'dah, the same city his father headed for. Although everyone, including his mother, attempted to stop him, they also knew the kind of man he was and would become. So when he showed his unyielding determination, they gave in. When the day came to leave, a large amount of people gave him small parting gifts. Some gave standard adventuring tools, some gave food, and other gave much needed gil, should the worst happen and he needed a way back home. Most important of the parting gifts was what his mother gave him. Before his carriage left, his mother pulled him aside from the rest. Without saying much, she put something into the palm of his hand. When he opened his hand, he was met with an old silver ring, She told him that his father had left it behind for his child, for when he was old enough to venture out into the world. He left it so he would never forget where he came from, or where he was going. With a few tears and an embrace exchanged, they parted ways. It was the closest Josiah had felt to his father.</p> |

Always accustomed to the slow paced life of the hamlet, the bustling city offered winding streets and dark shadows. Had it not been for a certain man, he would have fell victim to a petty con. The elder man, a grizzled Sea Wolf by the name of Ahlditar, gave young Josiah a harsh, relentless scolding once he was safe. When the man demanded the youth to return home, Josiah met him with eyes set ablaze. He told him he would never return home, not until he became a shield for the innocent. While the man initially laughed in his face, causing Josiah some anger and embarrassment, the old man looked him over in silence. When he was satisfied, he told Josiah to follow him, telling him that there was a way to reach his goal. With some hesitation, he followed. After a short walk, they arrived at a place Josiah had never seen before. What startled him the most was the clashing of steel, and the cheering of crowed. It was the first time he had ever seen a gladiatorial arena. The man stopped and told Josiah to watch the fight that was taking place. He did so, watching the fighters partake in a dance of sword and shield play. It had been so long since something left Josiah awestruck. Seeing his face, the man felt joy himself and motioned Josiah to continue walking. With another small walk, they found themselves in a room filled with others like the gladiators, honing their skills and bodies. It was there that Josiah found out the man who saved him was also one of these fighters, and a rather skilled one at that. It was there the Roegadyn gave Josiah an offer. At the current state he was in, there was no way Josiah could even protect himself, let alone others. So, he would take the young lad under his wing and train him to be a skilled gladiator just like him. It was going to be hard, and some days he would wish for death, but if he was so determined to become a hero of peace, he would need to earn to power to do so. Without a second though, Josiah agreed. He knew the man was right, and if he passed that opportunity up, another one would never come. Thus began the most brutal years he had ever faced.</p> |
− | <p>Life with Ahlditar was never uneventful. Between relentless training sessions, the Roegadyn taught Josiah other things he would need to know in order to survive in the world, not just as an adventurer, but as a man as well. Between relentless training sessions, the Roegadyn taught Josiah other things he would need to know in order to survive in the world, not just as an adventurer, but as a man as well. The sort of unspoken honor he should have towards other warriors, how to survive outside the safety of cities and villages, and how to protect himself in large cities such as Ul'dah. Their bonds deepened every moon they spent together, and it wasn't long before they felt more like father and son. Josiah always asked his mentor about his life, but he tended to keep most of it unknown, giving the young man small snippets after satisfying him in training. It was after the third year of his training that the Calamity took place. Just like with most, he wasn't able to remember much of the event, only fuzzy bits and pieces. It was after the disaster, when citizens of Ul'dah took to rebuilding what was destroyed, that he made the grim discovery of his master's death. For the first in his life, Josiah was taken with rage and despair. Time was taken to mourn, as well as help in the city, but it wasn't long before the Coliseum began to hold matches. WIthout Ahlditar, who was his manager as well, the guild paired the young man up with another, though, Josiah didn't allow the new man to grow close. He fought his matches, with increased vicousness. And when he was injured, he barely gave the wounds time to heal, even having some reopen in his following match. While it was unsettling, the other Galdiators he had grown with simply didn't know how to help him. All attempts was met with a rather agressive cold shoulder. This ended up becoming his life for the next two years, until he was twenty.</p> |
+ | <p>'''Becoming a free Paladin''' Five whole years had passed since Josiah began as a Gladiator. While he wasn't the best, or most famous, he was near the top. After wandering the city one day, he had heard rumors of the Sultansword accepting new recuits, and of those called free Paladins. Once again, the Gods had given the man the oppertunity to step closer to his goal. The next day he had away from the bloodsands, he took the trip to the Hustings Strip. There were others who had heard the same rumors, and Josiah found himself among a dozen or so other men and woman. The Sultansworn tasked with weeding through the faces put them through trials, testing both their bodies, minds, and morals. Josiah himself passed the tests well, but when it came time to see who had made the cut, his name was not among them. His anger got the better of him, and demanded the trainers to explain why he wasn't chosen, given his results.</p>
+ | <p>They told him flat out that he was an unstable man, having seen his actions in the Coliseum, and his demands only proved their points. His dream now seemingly out of his reach, his upset mind was visible on his face. While he was ready to accept his defeat, one of the Sultansworn gave him one piece of advice. If he truely desired to be among them, he would seek the Conjurers of Gridania, and present himself to them. There, should he be deemed qualified, would he learn what he needed to become whole again. And so Josiah went, sending his resignation to the Gladiator's guild, and setting out for the Shroud before they were able to stop him.</p>
+ | |||
+ | <p>During his journey, Josiah had ample time to think of his actions. The effect they had on others, and himself, his body war-torn. Though he first gave excuses to his actions, the closer he was to Gridania, the more he saw just how wrong he was, and see the justification in the Paladins' decision. Once to the Conjurer's guild, he did as the others said, and presented himself with an open heart, and mind. To him, the interviewing process was a rather long one, the man probing him as much as he could. Though he was ready to be rejected, it was not the case, and Josiah found himself training immediately. While commuing with the Elementals didn't strain his body so much, it was his will that was put to the test. And along with the betterment of his mental fortitude, his current view on life and all it consists of began to take shape. How every living being is precious, but one shouldn't hold life as an absolute. The Gods and Elementals have their nature, and death was among them.</p>
+ | |||
+ | <p> Two years passed before he had reached this elightenment, and though his conjury wasn't the strongest, he resigned himself from the guild. They new his reasons for joining, and sent him off with smiles. He was a new man after his time with them, and for that, he would ever be thankful to them. Returning to Ul'dah, he went to the Sultansword again, asking for another set of trials. He was given the tasks, and like before, he succeeded. Yet, this time, peace seemed to follow him. As the trainers began to discuss, Josiah couldn't help but feel anxiety. It was after an unbearable silence that they gave him their say. And they said he passed, and was to begin his training. Try as he might, he could hold back his tears, and the man broke down in happiness. Once again, he was closer to his dream, and while not directly, to his father.</p>
+ | |||
+ | <p>'''Adulthood''' For the better part of a year, Josiah trained under the Sultansworn. Though they didn't have much to teach him with sword and shield, they were able to fine-tune his desire to protect into his fighting style. Along with becoming increasingly defensive in fights, he had learned more of what it meant to be a hero from the men and women who sworn an oath to the Sultana. Just like with his fighting, his own sense of justice and morals became fine tuned into what they are today. His training with them lasted much less then his time with the Gladiators and the Conjurers, but it was just as effective. Letting the man go where he pleased, Josiah left Ul'dah a guradian of Eorzea, wandering from nation to nation seeking those who would need his aid.</p>

He understands that Eaubront is simply doing whatever he's able to in order to keep himself, and those around him, together, even through the stress the Pathfinders put on him. And it's that reason as to why the Highlander respects him, and sees him as a good man. While Josiah feels they haven't had the time or the experiences to be close friends, he's hopeful that as their times continues, he'll be able to find such a thing within the Elezen.</p></div> |

He can count those he's had such a relation with on a single hand, and the furthest he's ever gotten has been light kisses, more due to his own will then the other's. Yet, here he was, the feeling in his heart telling him one thing. It was something he never expected, either. Had it not been for the Elezan at the Gin Mill, telling him of the woman looking him over, he would have never met Relavel. And while she was rough and distant, Josiah was warm and caring. They were complete opposites, and Josiah has been finding himself more and more attracted to that fact. Now knowing she feels the same way as he does, so he believes, Josiah frequents La Noscea much more, hoping to see the woman slowly stealing his heart.</p></div>

Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular: | Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. [edit]
Josiah Covey (Pronunciation: Jo-sai-ah Co-vay), Josiah, as many others in his line of trade, is a wandering man who seeks to aid whomever he's able to do, instinctively using his life, or coin, in order to do so. Within recent days, the man can be seen in La Noscea, near the Pathfinders estate, or wherever the company ventures to.
The Highlander stands roughly at six fulm and five ilm(6'5), weighting damn near 300 ponze, most of the weight being muscle.
Calm. Carefree. Compassionate. Towards almost everyone he meets, Josiah give off a calming aura.
A few miscellaneous items that Josiah tends to carry with him. For now the list is extremely small, but as time goes on, more will be added to the list. Last Updated: 6/18/16
Face Claim: See above. Body Claim: See above. Voice Claim: Iron Tager from BlazBlue. Examples
During combat, Josiah's primary focus is to protect his allies, happily becoming a human shield. While his offensive capabilities are lacking, his ability to intercept attacks for another and taking whatever is thrown at him is excellent. Since he started his career as a Gladiator, he's trained with sword and shield daily, learning to use his own body to subdue others should he find both away from himself. It has only been a few years since he took up a conjurer's staff, but he never skips the chance to practice his conjury.
Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that CHARACTER has been a part of. This list is by no means all inclusive, and serves more as a general reference as to what HE/SHE has been up to.
Youth: Josiah doesn't know much of where his ancestry originated from. Still, Josiah hoped and dreamed, and because of that, he made the decision to follow his father's footsteps. Most of his childhood was uneventful. To both better the world like his father was doing, and to make him proud once they met, he began to offer his hand to anyone around the small village, once he was old enough. It was the closest Josiah had felt to his father. Becoming an adult: The sight of Ul'dah threw him for a loop. Thus began the most brutal years he had ever faced. Life with Ahlditar was never uneventful. This ended up becoming his life for the next two years, until he was twenty. Becoming a free Paladin Five whole years had passed since Josiah began as a Gladiator. His anger got the better of him, and demanded the trainers to explain why he wasn't chosen, given his results. They told him flat out that he was an unstable man, having seen his actions in the Coliseum, and his demands only proved their points. And so Josiah went, sending his resignation to the Gladiator's guild, and setting out for the Shroud before they were able to stop him. During his journey, Josiah had ample time to think of his actions. The Gods and Elementals have their nature, and death was among them. Two years passed before he had reached this elightenment, and though his conjury wasn't the strongest, he resigned himself from the guild. Once again, he was closer to his dream, and while not directly, to his father. Adulthood For the better part of a year, Josiah trained under the Sultansworn. Letting the man go where he pleased, Josiah left Ul'dah a guradian of Eorzea, wandering from nation to nation seeking those who would need his aid.
