Character Basics

Y'uraq (pronounced Yah-oo-rak) is a young, and spirited Sun Seeker miqo'te researcher and a prominent gladiator across Eorzean arenas. Born to a Jaguar (Y) tribe in northern Vylbrand, Y'uraq presently lives in Ul'dah since his mysterious awakening in Eastern Thanalan. Y'uraq has since lost contact with his tribe, as he's journeyed through the entire continent in searching in vain. Since settling in Ul'dah, Y'uraq has adapted more to modern city life and "civilized" customs. His savage tendencies are sated with expeditionary contracts, missions, and the coliseums, where his most twisted thoughts would still run wild.

Appearance & Personality

At just an ilm over six fulms, Y'uraq stands slightly taller than the average male sun seeker miqo'te. His darker complexion suggest he is indeed, no stranger to the sun. As tall as he may be, Y'uraq's physical strength isn't as strong at it could be, as he never recalled being a Nunh before losing his memories. As limited as his strength may be, he continues to show gradual improvements since training to wield a sword and shield under the gladiator's guild, making himself just sufficient enough to train under the sultanguard. His high spirits and energies radiate through his youthful face, with sharp, dark amber eyes partly glinting in the light, the rest is concealed by his dark hairs at some parts of his face, while leaving others revealed to onlookers. Two longer bangs hanging down on both opposite sides of his head with his pointed furry ears slightly leaning toward the back of his head. With enrlarged front fangs that sometimes poke through his smiles

When he's not upset over the uncertainties of his past or choosing a focus study for his research, Y'uraq is generally upbeat and welcoming around his friends and strangers alike, until they give him a reason not to. To his dismay, Y'uraq is more driven by his emotions than by logical means, justifying his sensitive tendencies as "instincts". Call it as he might, it does very little to mask his true nature from those he's tried to convince.

Since his travels, Y'uraq has been advanced on by both men and women along his journey, which has also re-kindled some vain, and border-line slight effeminate tendencies about his appearance, not also limited to his interests in jewelry and fine embroidery, which soon protruded through his style of fashion and glamour as well. Preferring to put style with some subtle elegance into both his casual and battle attire, while also keeping comfort and practicality in mind. Y'uraq prefers to have his own clothes, armor, and jewelry made to his to meet his own personal tastes. He is very often seen donning trinkets on some place or other on his person.

In times of confrontations and certain conflict, Y'uraq's cheerful and harmless mindset slowly shifts into feral tendencies. Focused, fearless, and savage in his strikes when locked in combat against his foes. In his past excursions, he's been unhesitant to lay himself in harm's way to fight and protect those that fight at his side, even if he's not carrying a shield to protect himself with. Despite his lacking physical strength, Y'uraq has been noted by witnesses to fight with ferocity and relentless savagery, especially when armed with a sword and shield.

Dark Visions

(Jan 14, 2015 - February 8, 2015 - 2.5) - Seeking to find a greater purpose in his new life, Y'uraq turns to the distant past in search to path his future. ...

As Y'uraq began his days among more established mercenaries, his simple joys as a sellsword were diminished as he began to realize the little meaning behind being mercenaries in a sea of adventurers, sellswords and mercenaries alike. And even though the pay afforded him some more personal luxuries, it did little to make him forget about the mystery that haunted his private moments, his fears regarding the possibilities he imagined about what could had led him to forget everything before the day he awoke in the middle of Thanalan. His crewmates noted flashes of rage and savagery in his combat, unable to recall certain details himself. He sought to focus his feral tendencies, and extend his talents from a sword and board, to a man-at-arms under the guidance of the marauders guild. Though Y'uraq achieved gaining control over his mysterious inner rage, it did little to quell his clouded mind.

As his concerns grew, he looked to his own training in conjury in hopes of finding a balance as a healing hand, than a marauding sellsword. Under the guidance of his friend and crew made, Rahn'a Lihzeh, Y'uraq attempted to meditate alongside his new guide. However, his guide sensed much very clouded mind. Rahn'a deemed that Y'uraq would not be able to improve his limited studies in conjury until he frees himself from what keeping him from being able to improve.

  • Y'uraq begins a scholarly apprenticeship under fellow Crewmate and Commanding officer, Ralamano Nulumano
  • Y'uraq has been overwhelmed researching over a lost Allagan artifact for the past moon, only to find dead ends as every scholar and archeologist from the Sons of St. Coinach deemed it as mere "fable". Regardless, Y'uraq has been making frequent trips between La Noscea and Mor Dhona, in search of anything that might suggest otherwise. His trips have usually included a night or two in Gridania on the way.
  • In his efforts to understand the links between Allag and the voidsent as well as their potential dangers, Y'uraq has enlisted under the Thaumaturge's guild guidance in Ul'dah
  • Y'uraq begins to study the fundamentals of thaumaturgy in hopes of being able to start making connections between the voidsent and the ancient Allagans
  • Y'uraq continues his pursuits as he begins to make connections, he is soon disturbed by his discoveries
  • Y'uraq decides to discontinue his research in fear of the things he uncovered
A Local in a Familiar Land

(February 8, 2015 - April 23, 2015) - A second journey across Eorzea turned leisure to self-reflection.

Under the advice of his fellows of the 81st, Y'uraq took a much needed break from his overwhelmingly daunting research and took back to the roads of Eorzea. Unlike his first known experience as a lost wanderer, Y'uraq was able to revisit familiar sights from his first journey with ease. In addition, he was able to spend more time, further familiarizing himself personally with each regions and their respective city-states, while also taking interest in new hobbies and skills. From harnessing his rage into raw power with the marauders guild and learning the art of patience from the master fishermen of La Noscea, to perfecting his oversight with archery and further appreciation for the land through botany in the Twelveswood, to honing his physical combat through pugilism and mining once he returned to Thanalan.

Despite his efforts to distract himself with leisure travel and activities, Y'uraq's second trip across Eorzea didn't unfold without some reminders of his first journey as a stranger in a strange land. Despite his own past hardships, Y'uraq has been able to look back for the first time since that fateful day and realizing how far he's made it mostly by his instincts, and through the guidance of some kind strangers he's come across in his travels up to that point. His feelings of accomplishment were cut shot as Y'uraq began to realize the mystery that surrounded his circumstances still haunted his present life. Regardless of the unfortunate circumstances that still afflict him, Y'uraq seized his present situation and took extended stays in each region, exploring sights and places he may have missed or overlooked during his first journey, to mingling and interacting with more of the locals, and even partaking in events and festivities happening during his stays. Despite this previous fortune with side quests and encounters in his first journey, none of his new experiences availed more lost memories for Y'uraq, his efforts have been for naught.

In result, Y'uraq felt more discouraged than ever before, in no real hurry to report back to his crewmates in La Noscea. He entered through the Gates of Thal, unconsciously re-enacting his first moments in the city, only the night was setting in his present time. Y'uraq decided to wander through the city one last time before making his way to the airship landing high above the city. He wandered the busy streets, things seemed a slight more hectic than he originally remembered as well. Brass Blades roamed the city in greater numbers than before as well. As Y'uraq continued wandering across the city, he continued to feel more at home in the heart of Thanalan, than he did anywhere else in Eorzea.

As this familiar confidence came to him, he became more affirmed that perhaps he might found himself in Thanalan for a reason that fateful day. It wasn't long until he convinced himself he would find all the information in the one place he never thought to look. And even though his own decision to resign from his crew in La Noscea wasn't an easy one to make, it was clear to him that his answers, whereabouts of his kin, and his true calling are all waiting in the deserts of Thanalan.

The White Jaguar of Ul'dah

(April 27, 2015 - June 15, 2015) - Y'uraq decides to return to the arid lands where his adventure began.

Upon returning to Ul'dah, Y'uraq was able to settle from his life on the roads. Despite his plans to pursue ancient artifacts and knowledge, he knew he'd never get anywhere without a place to live and something that would earn him a steady cash flow, as critter extermination was now far beneath his skill. Short on skills and options, Y'uraq made his way toward the Hall of Flames with a sword and shield in-hand. But instead some curious looking flyers stood out from the rest of the boards. Y'uraq glance the curious recruitment flyer before deciding to give the free company a look, before long he was admitted as The Fireborn's latest crew member.

Y'uraq settled into the Fireborn's barracks in his personal quarterspace. While he soon made himself acquainted with his fellow mercenaries in the free company. While the dreadful lack of scholars among his crewmates was very limited, it did not stop him from focusing on his duties, though few there were. Y'uraq took advantage of his light involvement, using his free time on several fronts. From constant bounty hunting for the Immortal flames, to taking his limited crafts more seriously, while simultaneously becoming a familiar face around the Ul'dahn marketplace.

Not to say Y'uraq was all work! His love for competitibe sparring, became his most favorite of pastimes, even while unwinding with a drink in his hand at the Quicksand or attending major gatherings and hearings around the city, Y'uraq made every effort to earn himself a reputation among the Ul'dahn's at every chance he could.

Dark Visions II

(June 25, 2015 - September 25, 2015) - Awoken to the sounds of clashing steel, Y'uraq's love for competition will grant him more than he bargained for.

Moons passed as Y'uraq once again strayed from his original plans to research and study, instead he became involved as a duelist. Y'uraq spent much of his time sparring with dummies, or his fellow crew members. Y'uraq found himself as a regular face among the other competitors and attendees alike. Y'uraq's extended training soon paid off as his evoked fury slashed, bashed, and thrashed his way to victories, higher up the ladder into the second, sometimes third rounds. Through fight and fight again, Y'uraq continued to exhibit the same feral tendencies the few that saw him would mention in his days as a mercenary. Y'uraq would end up surprising spectators and judges alike, as he'd overpower larger competitors, and occasionally matching those perceptively faster. Despite his best efforts, his fatigue and lack of proper heals from prior fights would only take his battlelust so far.

Coming in terms with his limitations, Y'uraq left notices across every market and board across Ul'dah in search of a personal conjurer to mend him at competitions and excursions. A few suns passed until he met Arzu Dilara, whom after more than proving her affinity to the elements, was hired that same bell. As the two continued their interview, Arzu revealed herself living among refugees outside city walls. In concern for his new friend and "pocket conjurer" Y'uraq offered Arzu a second job as his housekeeper, offering her a place to sleep in his private estate in exchange for looking after the house during his extended absence in Dravania.

Since his return, Y'uraq's training and perseverance paid off as he stadily gained a reputation as a savage duelist across the rings. As he fought his way to claim a few championships, despite his growing success, Y'uraq continued challenging every competition he caught wind of. With his trusted conjurer at his side, Y'uraq challenged foes of all walks, shapes and sizes, Proving himself a wrothy contender when he didn't lose himself to his seething darkness. His growing popularity attracted the attention of many, including a dark knight whom Y'uraq soon sought guidance in controlling what his new mentor referred to ask his "darkside."

As time passed, Y'uraq and Arzu ineviably became closer

Arzu Dilara - As Y'uraq focused his attention on the many sparring tournaments surfacing across Eorzea, he enlisted the personal service of a personal conjurer. As the two continued their accordance, Arzu eventually revealed herself to living among refugees. Worried for his new friend and "pocket conjurer", Y'uraq offered Arzu a second job as his housekeeper and personal assistant. Compensating her extended list of chores, with a safe and comfortable place to sleep. As time passed, Y'uraq has taken to fancy his personal assistant to the point of even developing a deeper level of affection for her. Growing frightful of his realization and what it could mean for the future, Y'uraq constantly debates over his feelings for Arzu.

Enzeru Onizuka - After deciding to participate as a date for a date auction during his second extended visit in Gridania. Y'uraq found himself bid off to Enzeru Onizuka. Before long, Y'uraq found himself inexplicably allured by him over their date. His memories of their time spent together are clouded, Y'uraq hasn't seen Enzeru since.
Niamont Fervent - Y'uraq was waiting to spectate his first Mystic Runestone when he came across an elezen woman clad in green. Before he knew what he had gotten himself into, Y'uraq and Niamont were on an inpromptu date to Ul'dah's streets under an evening sky. Since sharing time again on a second date, Y'uraq has often found himself distracted from his duties, wondering about the mysterious, and dazzling void huntress he met one curious afternoon.

Shas Tarry (Currently known as Sharla Blackheart) - The very first person Y'uraq recalls speaking to since he awoke in the wilderness and wandered his way into Ul'dah. He renembers she stood out among the crowd of patrons at the Quicksand. Y'uraq was instinctively drawn by her sword, shield and shining armor, prompting him to remember another piece of his memory as the proud protector he one day yearned to be as a kit. Since then, Sharla has time and time again helped Y'uraq in his journey across Eorzea. Y'uraq had since fondly thought of her as the beacon that lit each of his darkest hours.

Omner Garamonde - Y'uraq recalls being hopelessly lost making sense of the Ul'dahn markets, before he stumbled into a Hyurian Highlander in the middle of his blacksmithing craft. After an exchange of greetings, gil, and armor. y'uraq was invited to join the man's free company at their estate in the Twelveswood. Satomi Hakase - Y'uraq met the curious looking hyurian during his first visit to Gridania since losing his memories. He still remembers Satomi in a positive light for her help, despite her bodyguard's threats.

If not for Ralamano's guidance, Y'uraq wouldn't had discovered his new pursuit for knowledge.

Auriaune Fournier - Like the rest of her wildwood kin, Auriane too left a very bitter taste in Y'uraq after briefly interacting with her. Especially after accusing him of being suspicious, and for instigating what could had been Y'uraq's end.
Grundy Byrde - Recalling his entire meeting with Satomi's bodyguards as one of his most unexpected, and unpleasant in his journey. After being instigated by Auriaune's false accusations, Y'uraq narrowly escaped a very one-sided brawl with the as the hulking roegadyn. Since then, Y'uraq has been resentful for the first time he's ever ran from someone or anything that poised to strike at him since his journey began. Should fate ever put him in Grundy's path again, Y'uraq will be ready to defend himself and his honor, if he must.
Togy Brandmakt - What started off as a mere stance for self-pride has evolved into a resentful, hostile rivalry. (At least on Y'uraq's side)
