Niklas Gran is a player character on the Balmung server, and (possibly) one of the only characters to be from royalty. Niklas may look like a regular Hyur Midlander, but he is in truth a refugee prince from a faraway kingdom that was destroyed at the same time as the Calamity in Eorzea, five years ago. He stands 5 fulms and 9 ilms tall, which is an average height for the male Midlander Hyur. He also has an unique gift called the Echo, allowing him to hear people's thoughts and see their memories, and also he can look into a person's heart.

The Pure-Hearted Swordsman Prince

He prefers to move around like his unique friends. He has a medium tan skin with olive-colored eyes, olive green hair, and good muscle tone. He prefers to wear a nophica green cotton shirt and trousers. Niklas has a pure heart and an benevolent & compassionate nature (both inherited from his mother), hating war for the deaths, misery and agony it comes with, which is not normal behavior for a noble. However, from time to time, he has shown to be quite arrogant and hot-blooded; some consider it a split personality, but in truth, he just gets excited when fighting competitively. Despite being born in nobility, he feels more comfortable around the common folk.

Biography

Backstory

Niklas was born to a royal father and a non-royal mother, who once lived in a faraway kingdom. However, he was not fond of the noble lifestyle, preferring to hang out with the common folk. He truly felt at home around nature, tending to the local animals in the forest. However, five years ago, on the day of the Calamity, voidsent attacked and ravaged the kingdom. His father, Croix, fell in battle to their leader. His mother, Selene, went missing along with his younger sister, Rena. For the first time in his life, he was truly alone. He left for distant lands as a refugee running away to find a new home. Eventually, five years later, he wound up in Eorzea. He absolutely loved how beautiful she is. He then sent out to start a new life in this land, safe from the demonic voidsent. He kept his prince title secret, because he still had noble blood in him, in order to hide from danger. Eventually he found a home and new friends in the form of the free company Harbingers of Dawn. Currently he wishes to start a new life and be able to resurrect the Gran household. He doesn't know, however, of the latent power in him inherited from his mother.

Present

Niklas is a past member of the Harbingers of Dawn, a free company dedicated to helping the citizens of Eorzea. He met Jihl while he was there, although she is highly nervous of him, and he is in love with her.

A Pest Problem: One of his first adventures. He went to Toto-Rak, along with Franz Renatus, Obsidian Hornet, and Rasamya Hakara, to save the sylph elder, Frixio. He was the leader of the group, who led them to the end of the prison and fought alongside them, and in the end, they completed their quest.

Beginning of a Legend: After the quest, Niklas founded his own free company called the Gran Knights, a company similar to the Harbingers, which they are allied with, which fights to protect Eorzea and Hydaelyn from creatures such as voidsent, the Primals, and the Garlean Empire. (tbc)

When they talked beneath the trees of the Central Shroud, Jihl gave him her oak flask as a gift. Niklas still has the flask to date, drinking water out of it. Later at a Tavern Night, he slowly falls in love with Jihl while they talked, although he doesn't want to admit it yet. ●Anstarra Silverain: Niklas met this Mi'qote in the cottage tavern during Tavern Night. While he was getting less drunk from drinking a whole bottle of wine, he became friends with her. ●Verad Bellveil: An Elezen who sells "dubious goods" and one of Niklas's close friends in the company. Niklas considers him one of his mentors. ●Faye Covington: The Support Saint of the Harbingers of Dawn. When she first appeared to Niklas, he saw her as nice and benevolent, although he is currently oblivious to her true nature. ●Ahri Naeba: A female Pugilist, the bartender for the Harbingers' tavern on Thursdays, and a fellow Martial Archon to Niklas. ●Worren Tigre: Niklas has found a friendly rival in this Miqo'te Monk when they showed each others' skills on the practice dummies. He aspires to at least reach his level of skill, even though Worren does not use his sword as good as him. ●Z'zhumii umi: Called "Umi" by Niklas, he worried about this Mi'qote's wine tolerance when he first met her on Tavern Night. ●Amelia Grace: A female Hyur Niklas encountered at one of the Harbingers' Tavern Nights. He was a little unsettled when he first saw her, because he sensed something ominous in her, but then it was gone. In reality she was born in Ishegard, but with a Garlean citizenship because her parents moved to a Garlean city. She is also a member of the Regnum Garlemald, a FC full of Garleans stranded in Eorzea, led by a noble named Ramsus Galthens. ●Val Nunh: This Mi'qote is the leader of the Harbingers of Dawn's Martial Branch, who is not the best with Niklas in terms of friendship. Niklas is actually very annoyed with his attitude, but keeps it to himself so he doesn't get on his bad side, although right now he already is. Other Facts Niklas is not fond of wine. He once got drunk after he drank a whole bottle. Niklas is not the smoothest when it comes to women. He gets nervous and heats up inside. Niklas is not that fond of riding in vehicles, preferring to ride on his chocobo, Choco. He carries an oak flask given to him as a gift from Jihl Wilzuun, which he holds dear.
