Suen portrait.png
Gender Male
Race Lalafell
Clan Plainsfolk
Citizenship Ul'dah
Age 31
Marital Status Single
Occupation Inn Manager
Guardian Oschon, the Wanderer
Nameday 22nd Sun of the 2nd Astral Moon
Free Company The Lion's Rest Inn

The manager of the Lion's Rest Inn is, fittingly, an adherent of Oschon. Yappo Rappo has the itch for adventure and the religious zeal to drive what would usually only be a crew of inn-workers to the heart of many minor conflicts that, naturally, no normal inn crew should have to suffer through. But they all get good pay, at least.

History

Glass-circle.png History

Past

Past

Yappo was the youngest of three brothers in a family with an unusual naming tradition. All of them were born to a dutiful father, Yafa Tipafa, and to a hot-headed mother, Dasisi Dasi. The eldest brother, Gepesi Dapesi, was Yappo's personal hero as a child. Yagefa Poyafa was the middle child - and as is typical of the middle child, felt the need to prove himself the hardest out of his other two brothers. Gepesi was 15 and Yagefa was 10 when Yappo came into the world in the year 1549 of the Sixth Astral Era.

So there it is - the brothers Gepesi Dapesi, Yagefa Poyafa, and Yappo Rappo. None of their names carried a whiff of a shared family line, but they were brothers. They weren't Gepafa Dapafa and Yafa Rafa, after all; this was all down to the family tradition. The phonemes in their names were taken from many family members in a cycle of mother, father, grandfather, grandmother. The first son got a portion of Dasisi's name, Yafa gave part of his to the second son, and so on. This is where the tradition breaks - Yappo Rappo was not derived from either of his grandfathers' names.

Now is the part of the story where the boring explanations about naming traditions end. Neither Oreddo Laneddo (Yappo's paternal grandfather) nor Doresi Didasi (his maternal grandfather) got along; Didasi and Oreddo both had open hatred for the traditions introduced by the other man's family. Oreddo Laneddo came from a clan of seafarers and navigators; while Didasi's family, though a well-kept secret of their time, had a rich history with the Upright Thieves. From Oreddo's own grandfather came the naming tradition and a well-established reputation among the sailors and pirates for excellently drafted maps. "Keep ter the sea, it provides us a livin', don't yer ever disrespect it by quarrelin' like kids." Whereas Didasi was the man who introduced Yappo's parents to one another - and Yafa to life as a "no-good rogue," something that passed down through the rest of the family.

Gepesi and Yagefa were both very good rogues, very close to one another. They were both well-established and competent, while Yappo was just then on the up-and-up when it came to the family tradition. All three of the brothers were rogues, their parents were rogues, their maternal ancestors were ...probably rogues too. Oreddo Laneddo absolutely despised the fact, but he loved his son and his grandchildren, only Gepesi and Yagefa at the time. There was a tense agreement between the two grandfathers that they would not interfere in the affairs of Yappo's family.

It was a shock when the two 'family businesses' collided. Doresi Didasi conducted an armed raid on one of Oreddo's ships on vague grounds - back then, the admiralty was less-than-effective in maintaining the peace or policing Limsa's many enterprises - there was no reason to, if you followed the code, you could do whatever - the Upright Thieves were the final judges. When you broke the pirate code and pissed them off, it was over for you. So, who polices the Upright Thieves? The allegation that Oreddo's map-making enterprises somehow broke the pirate code by allowing piracy to flourish was, in a sense, breaking the code itself. The raid went on, however, resulting in the loss of a charter ship, The 4th Hell, and the fourth-worst naval bloodbath to occur outside of Limsa's fragile jurisdiction.

Didasi and his circle of rogues became wanted men from the get-go. Only Didasi, however, had the balls to return to shore. The moment he set foot on land, his life was over. He was cornered by Yappo's family

Present

Present

Suen started her Pilgrimage out of the Shroud on the road to Mor Dhona. Her first impression was that all the chaotic screaming, distorted Aether around her made the place sound totally silly.

She continued her way down to Thanalan, where many life impacting events turned her world upside down, made a wreck of her plans, and forged a new destiny for her. Abducted and nearly tortured by a band of shady Keepers that proved to actually be rather friendly and approached by sky pirates, Suen immediately got on the bad side of the law. But the worst decision she ever made was to attempt sneaking around Castrum Meridianum, not learning the lesson from the incident around Castrum Oriens a year earlier. Again, she got into trouble and provoked a small skirmish between garleans salvaging the remnants of the place and the Immortal Flames, propelling her on a warrant in Ul'dah, which however quickly got solved by an inspector under contract with the Sultanate.

What sealed her fate though was the little allagan device she looted from the commotion around the castrum, that proved to be more than just a tomestone of sorts: the shard inside somehow connected with her and allowed her to access a mental link that was apparently shared by the mercenary company of Aeon. Impossible for her to get rid of it, she eventually got into the Aeon family for a lack of better options. They promised to take care of her as one of their own, and to teach her how to use that link as well as defend herself against their nemesis.

Personality

Glass-circle.png Personality

Nature & Demeanor

Nature & Demeanor

Suen is overall a good-natured, at times spirited, girl, that enjoys simple things and satisfying her curiosity, while fleeing her responsibilities. Although she is not devoid of empathy (especially toward the wilderness), she often happens to overlook misery, or the issues she can cause on her own: too absentminded in nature, it often takes time for her to take the whole measure of such facts and feel remorse. Otherwise, she is most of the time polite and respectful, to the point of putting herself down in favor of vindictive people. Having been raised in the Twelveswood, in contact with the Gridanian society, she shows very little care for luxuries or mannerisms. However, she can be infinitely nosy and excited over anything, which coupled with her scatterbrain nature tends to make her behavior rather unpredictable.

In spite of her nerdy ability to get overexcited at the mention of new horizons, obscure lore, and technology (especially Garlean and, cream of the cream, Allagan), Suen shares the solitary nature of her kin with great zeal. She is often found lost in her thoughts, or outright living in her own world, and it can get pretty difficult to snap her out of her bubble. Her clear lack of realism or even sense of danger or dread can make her engage into incredibly risky situations that no sane person would consider even vaguely safe to do, which can lead her into pretty upside-down situations.

Due to her affliction, she is for most people a walking danger that should be kept away, hurting her relations in the process, a fact that is not helped either by her mi'qote Keeper tendency to follow a solitary life. Despite her showing clearly otherwise, she is acutely aware of this and it tends to comforts her into keeping her true self shut close to her. In direct relation to that, she totally lacks of self-confidence and often tends to put herself down, preferring heavily to rely on others to take important decisions.

Suen's demeanor and the personality she created around her character is a way for her to hide the mental wounds related to her past. She is unable to properly face what she caused, and she unconsciously tries to flee whenever she is reminded of it, a way for her to shut herself off from a harmful past.

Suen does not truly follow a religion proper, albeit she certainly shares an affinity for Thaliak, her guardian deity for which she shares a true passion for discovery, as well as Nophica who holds a major significance for most Gridanians. She happened to show more recently a certain curiosity for Oschon, as after all, she now shares his vagrant life. Elementals and manifestations of nature being to her like a second skin is also more a matter of everyday life than religious, albeit still slightly spiritual. Of course, the thrill of new knowledge, edgy and creepy stories, and any kind of advanced technology could be argued to form her true 'religion'.

Appearance

Glass-circle.png Appearance

Rather small in size even for a mi'qote, and frail in stature, Suen still developed the necessary stamina to wander the roads everyday. She tends to exhibit a mousy, nerdy and tomboyish appearance. Her hair is taupe, as well as her eyes, with slight, light amber tones, and her pale complexion is typical of the Keepers of the Moon, albeit without showing too much some of their blue-ish undertones. Suen's rather delicate features are often hidden behind dust or dirt, depending where she tends to wander carefree, and her hair most of the time disheveled. Her innocent appearance has often fooled people into supporting her in shady dealings until it was too late to back away.

Scars & Markings: None directly noticeable. Her skin is generally pretty flawless, when clean. A few cuts and marks hard to define can be found all around her hands, which are probably the product of her inability to use her hands without hurting herself in the process for most manual work.

Voice: Suen obviously speaks with a deep Gridanian accent that can also show hints of Mi'qote Keeper tongue. Her voice tends to be somewhat high-pitched, but not crystal clear, rather hoarse. Overall, not the aristocratic type.

Clothing: Suen is often seen wearing simple, ample, yet sturdy clothes cut for travel and woods. Overall, it often gives her a rather rugged, rogue aspect.

Talents

Glass-circle.png Talents

Abilities

Abilities

Under her talents for the worst to happen and her utterly clumsy manners, Suen hides a keen and cunning mind that can awaken either at the weirdest times, or when the situation is dire enough to warrant it. Left alone, she remains rather resourceful and can get as crafty as foxes, either to survive, or in pursuit of her goals when fate has not conspired against her. Her pragmatic gridanian upbringing in the woods taught her to do with very little and simple things, and she rarely requires a lot for subsistence, used to take from nature what nature gives. However, she can sometimes get lost on matters of survival in foreign, alien looking lands.

Like most of her kin, she inherited of some of their traits, like better legs, ears and smell, although certainly not in an order of magnitude similar to those shown by the hunters of the family. She often tends to rely heavily on her magical perception rather than her physical senses.

Suen's primary weaknesses naturally include a disastrous luck often leading her otherwise simple and pleasant life into an endless catastrophe and unexpected shifts of situations from the daily blunders that can include butter fingers or bruises to the rarer but nonetheless impressive backfires that afflict the few spells she can be called to cast. Moreover, most of the skills she might express are often totally overshadowed or outplayed by her clumsy affliction, where everything good, or paved with good intentions, gets often turned into pretty grim or outright dreadful consequences.

Combat

Yappo is a bizarrely well-rounded individual - often at the cost of his own well-being. He retains much from his days of banditry and exercises constantly to keep his edge, but his interests lie firmly with scholarly pursuits, which are often reckless endeavors that endanger himself and others.

Leon Mug-shotz.jpg
Leon Greymoon
Aeon

Leon was the first to introduce Suen to that group of mercenaries called 'Aeon', when she was looking for directions in the Goblet. He has so far shown a steady welcome toward her, and proved to be very supportive, and even receptive to her debatable wits. Leon is also willing to help Suen learn to defend herself through physical arts. Leon proved to be a caring friend to Suen when she needed it the most.
Ava.jpg
Aurou Mhirata
Aeon

Aurou has always been around Leon. Having learned of her Sharlayan origins as well as her studies of the art of conjury, Suen's interest has been piqued even further. The quiet tranquility of the mi'qote sometimes succeed in snapping Suen out of her bubble and make her take her responsibilities. Aurou offered Suen to help her reconcile with her broken conjury. As for Leon, Aurou proved to be the most caring, full of insight, leaving very few secrets in the way.
RaihProfile.png
Raih Unaze
Dread Wyrms

Maybe feeling a certain familiarity for a fellow Keeper of a similar age and their similar tastes, Suen connected immediately with the gridanian mi'qote, who seems to struggles with similar past issues. Suen feels very admiring and maybe a bit envious of Raih's self-assurance and carefree life. She found a confident and unexpected promising good friend in Raih, who exerts an emotional magnetism on her.

Acquaintances (PC)

Acquaintances (PC)

White space height.gif
Ferus Ironlash
Aeon

Ferus mostly left an impression of coldness and appeared as a no-nosense, rude, unwelcoming ala-mighan character. His insistence in trying to marginalize her tends to get on her nerves, though Suen also actually enjoys his grumpy and cynical side. Despite all that, Ferus behavior is a mystery to Suen: Ferus seems to actually sneer at ala-mighans refugees and came along with Kairen and Lute to save her from aggressors.
Kareinollerus baseimage.jpg
Kairen Ollerus
Aeon

Kairen is another member of Aeon, and Suen also learned recently her love affair with Ferus. While she usually does not care much about racial mixes, coupled here with the age difference the thing tends to rebuke her probably out of prejudice. In any case, Kairen saved her life from aggressors without thinking about it first.
White space height.gif
Lute Hyrie
Aeon

Suen does not know much about Lute other than she came with Kairen to save her life without any questions.
White space height.gif
Oyungunjin Kha
Aeon

Oyungujin is the newest Aeon member. Suen finds him very secretive and hard to approach. He seems to seep a certain amount of dark mystery, which leaves Suen rather intrigued.
Altanisatrs.png
Altani Mol
Aeon

Altani seems to be a rather bizarre shaman-arcanist living in her own peculiar world, something that Suen can relate a bit with. In contrast with Altani's happy go lucky side, Suen is not sure what to think of her shocking indifference to kill yet though.
Wikiavatar.png
Haydn'to Kalmar
Jackal & Hide

Suen met Haydn'to through her acquaintance Raih. Sharing the same native homeland, he proved to be friendly enough, accepting her as a friend of Raih, and a fellow Keeper from the Shroud. Suen enjoys a lot his alarmist stories on the primal Odin.
A291dbf8689944b8d73a76bfa06a1f22.png
Sigurd Sundsteigen
Ebonbrand Technoworks

Sigurd is the first person Suen encountered in Mor Dhona on the way to her pilgrimage, which whom she kind of kept contact when he offered her a linkpearl. Not especially sure what that bizarre vintner clad in armour was up to with this linkshell, she decided to investigate.
BraveHorizonInfobox.png
Brave Horizon
Dufresne Bellworks

Brave Horizon showed immediately that she was a considerate person, and her involvement in the Airship maintenance and design of Aeon sure proved to be a point of interest for Suen.
White space height.gif
Yashaix Ki'lari
RareX

Suen got abducted and nearly physically tortured by a band of shady individuals lead by this tall mi'qote woman, that took her for someone else. Suen is still deeply shaken by the experience, the first time she had to look at death in the eyes, but she is slowly healing through it. Since then, Yashaix proved to actually be a very caring, gentle Keeper mother with a strong sense of kin.
White space height.gif
U'xi Krash
Oathforge

U'xi is part of Yashaix' little gang of Keepers, and the one that abducted Suen for her. Suen appreciates her social flair, but her often lewd, flirting comments and manners tend to weird her out.
White space height.gif
Sami Rokha
Trident

Sami is the daughter of Yashaix, and proved to have quite a different personality. Suen immediately got along with a simplicity they both share. They promised to see each other again.
Pdesmond.png
Paul Desmond
Aethereal Warriors

Paul caught Suen in Uld'ah when she got the attention of the authorities by sneaking into the area around Castrum Meridianum. He was a reminder of the consequences of her actions, but not really interested in taking her to the Blades, he offered her to do some investigative work for him instead. She eventually did the work that culminated in the death of a target, and got cleared of her warrant afterwards.
LiselotteAvagnar1.png
Liselotte Avagnar
_

Liselotte stumbled on Suen near the airship landing of Ul'dah. Learning about her investigation services, Suen eventually redirected her to various cases that could require her skills. Suen is not really sure to understand Lise colorful imagination and happy go lucky mood at times, but she sure finds it rather fun.

Roleplay, stances

Roleplay, stances

Stances on RP: Usually 'heavy' kind of RP, with emphasis on character development and growth. Modest characters, lasting plots, but open to most RP really. Suen is mostly designed as a supporting character, even if she has her own story.

Hooks and relationships: Totally open to any idea that can provide potential RP with my character. If you feel that my character profile can provide a hook for a story you have in mind, don't hesitate to reach me out to see what can be done! I am also definitely open for family ties, or background connections between characters.

RP combat and injuries:Open for most systems as long as they make sense to me. I can roll random dices or settle it through a fully organic RP exchange without any other tool, or a combination of both. As long as both players are conscious of the limitations and strengths of their characters, it should flesh out pretty good situations. As I am a strong supporter of dealing with the consequences of every actions our characters do, I will go by almost anything that can happen (except when true death, or other very dire things have to happen).
