Kyt'ir Jakkya
[edit]
Once a promising, naively optimistic mage with unrealized potential, Kyt'ir has finally started living up to the promise his teachers saw in him. Despite his youth, the Keeper has been through countless trials and has come out mostly intact. A dedicated practitioner of magic and alchemy, in forms legal and illegal, he will go to any lengths to try and further his knowledge of magical arts.
Born in the Eastern Shroud, this Keeper stands slightly shorter than average compared to your typical Miqo'te, with a somewhat pale complexion. His hair is naturally a pale, almost silver-white, however he habitually dyes it a dark brown, with streaks of lighter, almost blonde tones that he once possessed. His face could pass for reasonably attractive, with slender yet defined features that all come together to form an almost statuesque appearance, something worthy of an expert sculptor's admiration. The only blemish is unfortunately a permanent one, a scar crossing diagonally down across the bridge of his nose. Even with such an ugly mark, his face is handsome, almost perfect, which only serves to draw more attention to his violet eyes. Those eyes are seemingly perpetually set in a piercing gaze, unflinching in a state of alertness despite whatever emotion the rest of his face may be trying to convey, whether it be a bright, fanged ivory smile or a smoldering scowl. Aside from his hair, his most distinctive feature may be his facial markings, stripes under each violet eye, accented with a series of dots. They take the attention away from the scar running diagonally across his nose, or at least he likes to imagine they do the trick.
His body is much unlike what one envisions when they picture a stereotypical mage. He earned his wealth not from weaving spells, but from fighting tooth and claw, sword and board in the Grindstone, and it shows. The once boyish figure has taken on a fair bit of tone, muscled yet not overly so, with nary a hint of body fat to be found. His legs in particular are strong, enough muscle to give away his penchant for leaping and lunging forth using them as springboards. The Keeper nearly manages but not quite pulls off a six pack, which trails up to a toned chest and shoulders. He is so close to having the kind of body that even an Ul'dahn courtesan would drool over - which makes the blemishes almost tragic, in a sense of potential squandered. The most prominent is his right hand and forearm, covered in webbed burn scars that cover the limb thoroughly midway up, fading from there up to his elbow. Despite retaining some motor function, clearly able to hold onto and manipulate light objects, the permanently damaged state makes his retirement from the Grindstone rather understandable. As if this wasn't enough to mar his image, his back is raked with scars, long faded but still discernible to a prying eye. Having earned a very comfortable living with his Grindstone winnings and ensuing Alchemical enterprise, he is almost always clad in fanciful, high quality garments. He eschews what is typically considered "in style" for his own personal tastes, invariably wearing clothes that hearken to civilizations long dead. The one thing that never changes is that he never leaves his scars visible, opting to wear gloves wherever possible, and insisting on wearing some kind of shirt even in places where it may be uncomfortable.Aspects That Stand Out:
Kyt'ir is an inherently skeptical individual, typically slow to trust and slow to warm up to anyone. Despite his cold personality and posturing, however, he's fragile underneath, quick to anger if his wounds are picked at and prone to self-doubt. Even after staking his own place in the world and building something worthy of pride, he is sensitive to criticism no matter how legitimate, and imagines himself to be in a competition with nearly everyone around him. Everyone is either a potential obstacle or tool, save for those in his inner circle of colleagues and friends.
