Current

Ainle is a free-Paladin of the 81st Foreign Levy of the Maelstrom. He also frequently participates in bouts at the Wolves' Den.

History

At an age preceding his earliest memories, Ainle was adopted by an Elezen woman named Senelle Silverlight. She raised him among the crew of privateers she belonged to, sailing the Grymgohta, and they were the ones Ainle grew to know as his family. His younger years were spent on ships and in port towns, his feet not firmly planting on the ground for more than a decade after his adoption. He began a life of his own by the approximate age of fifteen by leaving the seafaring life and setting a course for Ul'dah. There, he trained to fight in the bloodsands while the legendary paladins of the Sultansworn quickly became his role models. When he wasn't grasping a sword, he swung a pick, and a membership with the Miner's Guild more than paid his way.

Since a reunion with his sisters, Ainle has learned of his past before his adoption. He and a fraternal twin sister were born to parents who each renounced their separate tribes to live as nomads before their untimely deaths. They named him 'Xihra', appropriately without a tribal prefix.

Personality

Ainle's upbringing sets him apart from tribal Seekers. Adoptive name aside, he was once rather culturally disconnected from other Miqo'te, though he quickly developed a familiarity with the other Eorzean races at a very young age. In the past, he often fell victim to social anxieties, but many others have found him to be a likable youngster. Over more recent cycles, he's developed a greater sort of confidence.

The friendliness that runs deep in his character drives his interactions and relationships with fellow Eorzeans. Those few who come to share a close friendship with Ainle enjoy an unmatched measure of loyalty from him. He exhibits strong instincts and has proven unshakably protective of those he cares for. Trusted companions have been scarce throughout his life, and Ainle is not one to squander them.

Combat

Here, Ainle is highly focused, as he seems quite duty-bound to protect his friends and allies. The results are a more decisive and much less nervous individual.

Ainle is highly skilled with a sword and shield- much of his experience from sabers and scimitars with small bucklers on his offhand. He can wield a kite-shield and straight sword with just as much confidence and expertise, now.

His power in hand-to-hand combat is also notable. Though the young man is small in stature, he commands potent aetheric power when he focuses the energies at his hands and feet.

Aetheric manipulation, be it the light from his Paladin techniques, or empowering his body in hand-to-hand combat, comes with a characteristic golden glow. The young Seeker seems to radiate a comforting warmth when his aether is excited. The same effect accompanies his attempts to heal others, though at the expense of his own energy. Any attempts at proper conjury or thaumaturgy are consistently met with failure.

Notable Relationships

Romantic Interest Sexual Desire Platonic Love Good Standing Neutral Standing Poor Standing

Syhrael Danisyggwyn

To Ainle, this woman has been nothing short of captivating since the moment they met, and the effect has yet to falter. One chance encounter has led to several by design, and as these two spend more and more time together, they draw ever closer...

E'liah Tia

E'liah and Ainle's relationship has evolved rapidly over the first half cycle of knowing each other. From quick crushes to unlikely lovers, they now find themselves in a place beyond romance, but not beneath it. Ainle is still quite protective of his close friend, and will likely remain that way.

Senelle Silverlight

Ainle's adoptive mother. This woman's kindness and caring are seemingly immeasurable, and Ainle loves her dearly. From ages three to fifteen, Ainle was inseparable from her- and many of her ideas, preferences, and mannerisms have rubbed off on the boy. Though Ainle has lived on his own for over three cycles now, these two are still incredibly close, and Ainle writes her letters often.

Eyristyrn Elileynwyn

The captain of the Grymgohta, the ship Ainle grew up on. Eyristyrn took on the role of another mother for Ainle as well. While she was usually more occupied with her duties as a leader of the crew, she was there for him when he needed her. More recently she has come closer to him, helping him to meditate and better access his aether.

Seda'li Tayuun

Initially striking Ainle as a professional arse-hat, Seda'li has turned his image around with him considerably. This Keeper of the Moon pressed forward when Ainle's apprehension might have otherwise kept them distant, and they bonded when Seda'li proved himself to be rather caring. Seda'li also helped to improve Ainle's social confidence as well as find his place within their company. Now, Ainle cares greatly for Seda'li, and is strongly driven to see to his close friend succeeding in whatever makes him happiest.

Z'koa Rhiki

Ainle met this Seeker on the streets of Ul'dah weeks before learning that she was his elder half-sister by blood. Since then, Ainle has begun to learn about his birth family and the first few cycles of his life. While Ainle himself holds no memories of their interactions prior to their separation over fifteen cycles ago, they've quickly grown close once again.

Onuma Ahntifi

The first member of the 81st that Ainle encountered, alongside Seda'li, and one that he has quickly grown fond of. Her kind nature broke through Ainle's anxieties early, and he, like many others, has come to look up to her. She's influenced him greatly, in nothing but positive ways, and he reveres her strength. She's got a special place in Ainle's heart, and it felt good to finally tell her.

Ghenta Hellbrand

This brazen and pushy woman joined the crew of the Grymgohta at an early age and spent several cycles around Ainle. He never will get used to her potent attitude, and he isn't entirely sure of how she thinks of him now, but Ainle feels they are on good terms.

Leo Arkwright

Since his first days at the company, Ainle has been fond of this Hyur. Leo seems to hold many characteristics and virtues that Ainle sees as important or even ideal. Even now that they are peers in the same squad, Ainle looks up to this man. Everything from Leo's skill to his courage and optimism in combat, Ainle feels he aspires to. Recently, they have proven to work well with each other in the field, and Ainle tends to stay by Leo's side if he can.

Rhesh'ir Zhwan

Ainle has always greatly respected his newest captain. He has only ever been intimidated by Zhwan's position, as the man's personality and demeanor are quite playful and friendly. Seeing Rhesh'ir with his infant son, Riel'a, sometimes leaves Ainle in awe, as well. Still, it took time for Ainle to warm up to him. Even now, Ainle is always at least somewhat formal with Rhesh'ir, not yet certain if he should try speaking with him on more familiar terms.

Emilienoix Bellegarde

Ainle knows little of this individual outside of how he conducts himself around other members of their company. Ainle's first impression of the man came from an outburst of Kodaro's- that Emilienoix was a thief; one who made an attempt at the 81st's property. To make matters worse, the Elezen seemed quite proud of the title given to him, and that set him on a course for a bad start with Ainle. The Seeker does not trust Emilienoix with matters of money, personal belongings, or tales of any sort. However, Ainle is aware that the Elezen has, since joining the company, been a good companion through his actions. Knowing this, Ainle will say that he is willing to start giving Emilienoix a chance as a teammate... but never a chance at his gil.

Zarek Earthshaker

The man who taught Ainle how to fight as well as meditate. Though the lessons of the latter did not begin to show benefits until after they parted ways, Ainle still considers Zarek a remarkable instructor. The philosophy that Zarek shared with Ainle has greatly influenced the boy in positive ways, and he still lives by it. Ainle knows nothing of the man's past, but considers him trustworthy.
