Gehr'ir Ett
Gehr'ir Ett The Wanderer
Contents
Those who know Gehr'ir know him for his tenacity and tricksy nature. Frequent indulgences of simple pleasures leave him caring for little else than his personal happiness and spiritual well-being. This nomad is seldom found in the same place for long and refuses to linger where unneeded. Though benevolent at heart, Gehr'ir's unpredictable nature can be a source of despair in both friend and foe alike. Those with thick skin and an ability to understand miqo'te body language will have an easier time dealing with this character than others.
Gehr'ir stands at five fulms, ten ilms and weighs one-hundred-ninety-something ponzes. The bulk of his weight is the modestly padded muscle covering the wide berth of his torso and shaping powerful legs. Cool, darkest brown hair is worn long and braided over his shoulder, though can be seen loose on occasion. The dark fur coating his soft, feline appendages is impeccably thick and smooth. Dusky skin is pulled taut over the muscle sculpting his body, and a strong back and wide shoulders are pronounced from countless years of archery. Though it can be difficult to discern when he is being genuine with you, that short tail- paired with those long, fluttering ears- are incredibly expressive. Gehr'ir's usual garb consists of a heavy boar skin cloak and buckskin leggings. Soft-soled moccasin boots adorn his feet and a visor is oft seen obscuring his eyes from view. Like most hunting Keepers, he is rarely seen without a short bow and dagger. A crudely made scepter can be seen strapped to his hip and is more noticeably worn when without his main weapon. A variety of decorative feathers and painted beads- made of stone, clay, and wood- adorn the majority of his possessions. His ears are pierced in multiple places and support the weight of various, clinking baubles- linkpearls included- and from his neck drapes a multitude of cords, beads, and a single, carved bone pendant made in the shape of some winged creature. "Tis not mine intention to convince you-- only to speak in truths. What you choose to believe hereafter is no business of mine." [edit]
โ HISTORY โ
โผ CHILDHOOD
Born in Gyr Abania to a nomadic tribe calling themselves "Taelyff", Gehr'ir was to be raised by his extended family. So large was his tribe they felt it necessary to split the group in twain, fearing they would deplenish and over-hunt the lands they loved. The two Taelyff caravans would thereafter meet twice per cycle for celebration and trade. These were the few occasions he would be able to spend time with his birth-mother and sisters-- one many summers older, and another born mere minutes after he. As a babe, the boy was shy, though ever curious. He would cling to the skirt and breast of his caretakers, seldom straying far from their security. Come age four, Garlemald had taken Ala Mhigo, and shortly following the influx of refugees into Eorzea, Taelyff soon followed. They were unwilling to risk Garlean assimilation by proximity. Or worse. โผ ADOLESCENCE
While the main division of the tribe migrated the deep, northern wilderness, Gehr'ir's wandering troupe took to the south and eastern wood, where they would come into contact with the forests' Gridanian inhabitants and its wandering adventurers. Civil trade was conducted with the cityfolk and local banditry alike. Though fortunate to learn both sides of a centuries' old plight 'twixt Gridania and its poachers, Gehr'ir would be, unfortunately, horseshoed into the latter. In being seen as no better than the rest of them, a toxic grudge began to stew, and one he would only grow out of in his later years... after losing a couple fingers to the local peacekeepers, of course. โผ RECENT
Moons spent in misery aboard a hybrid ship of air and sea has finally born the reward of landfall. Upon docking at the piers of Kugane, many of Sable Tree Company made their first steps onto Eastern soil. The splendors of the neutral city both awe and exhaust him, yet his friend, Batu Geneq, continues to regale him with tales of his homeland- of Yanxia and the Steppe beyond. Much as Gehr'ir tries to enjoy the comforts of 'city life', he cannot wait to return to the wild soils of an unchecked wilderness. There is so much he wishes to learn out here, and little to none of it has to do with the city proper or its people. October 18 2017 Following a recent trip to the frozen lands of Coerthas Gehr'ir has returned to his tribe to reconcile with his birthmother. He pledges to continue as her apprentice going forward, to better learn their tribal spellcrafts under her many watchful eyes, and under those of his tribe who had learned better before him.
