Appearance & Personality
Glow is athletic, acrobatic, and built for running, and with her blue skin and dark purple hair she's also built for stealth at night. This combination has helped her escape many, many people, be they guards, criminals, or some combination of the two. Every inch of her is smoothly toned muscle, her legs in particular.
Biography
To this day, the Miqo'te rarely known as Glow N'amownoc doesn't know who here real parents are, and it's never been a detail that's concerned her. Left on a doorstep in Ul'dah in front of the house of a pair of Lalafell by the names of Valelu and Samiri Valeria, Glow was raised as if she was their own child. Glow has long since resolved to believe that her real parents chose the Lalafell on purpose after learning that they were repeatedly unsuccessful in having children of their own. She doubts she'll ever learn the true circumstances of her birth and as a result Glow has always believed that a little mystery never hurt anyone; although her definition of "a little mystery" is often vastly different from other peoples these days.
Growing up with a fast tongue and even faster feet, it was a wonder her parents ever managed to keep up with her. If it weren't for the multitude of broken bones that her mother's White Magic healed time and time again Glow might never have slowed down at all. The broken bones were often a result of trying to emulate street performers, and in time the practice paid off. With a little hands on mentoring from some fellow Miqo'te who were impressed by her energy and enthusiasm Glow stopped injuring herself quite so frequently and learned all manner of street performance types, from the acrobatics she started with, to juggling, knife throwing, dancing, singing, and fire-breathing.
Eager to learn all there was to know, she didn't settle for just the legal ways of making gil. Glow saw little reason not to agree with the belief that if one could get away with an item in hand then that item was supposed to be hers, and thus began her trek into the criminal world. After learning how to pick-pocket and pick locks, by the time she was a teenager Glow had made a small name for herself as a general trouble-maker among the streets of Ul'dah. Not sure what to do with their energetic and enterprising criminal of a daughter, her Lalafell parents grew concerned. The Brass Blades were also starting to take notice of Glow, and it seemed it wouldn't be long before she'd end up in jail. After a long discussion, they thought it might be best if she joined a caravan of travelers and set out to explore Eorzea. It was much to their surprise when before they could talk to Glow about it she announced her intention to do that very thing. Valelu and Samiri were initially worried that their daughter had overheard her and was setting out in spite of them, but a little cursory probing assuaged their fears. In the end they supposed it wasn't surprising that Glow wanted to get out and explore the world, and they wished her well.
What happened next was a whirlwind of events. Glow traveled from town to town, always getting in and out of trouble wherever she went. It didn't take her long to end up in jail for the first time in her life, as she didn't know other towns half as well as she knew her home city of Ul'dah. She found the experience to be a traumatic one and it shaped the nature of her particular brand of crime. It became habitual for her to scout towns at night and learn as much as she could, and also pickpocket local guards for keys. She would usually try to get at least two, one to keep and one to hide in the jail should she get arrested. In this way her incarcerations were always on her own terms- the knowledge that she could escape whenever she chose often made jail a more appealing choice than paying for an inn room. She also began to make a name for herself as a cat burglar, but Glow never let herself be beholden to anyone. Some jobs were completed as asked, while she took liberties with others. At times Glow would keep the goods for herself, or other times she would inform the owners of the goods that someone was trying to steal them.
Often overlooked by nearly everyone that met her was Glow's penchant for reading. Having already learned when she was younger the value of expanding her physical limits, Glow thought maybe expanding her mental limits would be good for her too. Whenever she was laying low from guards or other criminals she would spend time reading whatever book she had managed to get her hands on. At other times she would get incarcerated so she might be able to read in peace. However she managed to do it, Glow found that expanding her horizons in every way possible was a worthwhile goal, and resolved first and foremost to remain beholden only to herself and her freedom, which was part of the reason why she might be a reliable, dependable criminal in one town, and a flaky not to be trusted criminal in another.
One could imagine that Glow made just as many friends as enemies, and it was likely the culmination of enemies- along with her natural curiosity- that spurred Glow to travel into Garlean territory. While the Miqo'te is reticent to talk about the experience in detail, she returned to Eorzea when news of the Calamity reached her. Once again she traveled from town to town, this time absorbing what the Calamity had wrought upon the people. Granted, he nature of remaining free kept her from lamenting the loss of much, and the fact that her Lalafell parents were still alive when she returned to Ul'dah helped assuage any worries she might have garnered.
Today, Glow is still very much a criminal. While the Brass Blades desire her capture the most given her incessant disruption of their affairs, various other criminals and guards would very much like to get their hands on her. Despite the adversity facing her Glow has often proved to be as smart as she is fast, always quick to escape in ways most people find unfathomable. She talks fast, runs faster, and if one can get even a half-truth to leave her lips they should pat themselves on the back, as once Glow has begun to lie she'll rarely back down from it no matter how obvious the lies may be. Some folks take her penchant for lying excessively as a sign of desperation; but the basic fact remains that constant deluge of lies makes it even easier to obfuscate when she actually tells the truth. After all, a little mystery never hurt anyone, right?
