Basics

K’haz Tia

- Peel back enough layers and everything starts to look the same - be it hopes, ideals, or people...

Once a combat medic to the Immortal Flames, K'haz did a six year tour before deserting after the battle of Cartenau. For the next five years he worked for Gridania's Fane, hoping that he might find his sanity in the bottom of a bottle.

Now, a year later - K'haz has found new purpose in dark corners of Ul'dah. Cradled in the birthplace of his failings sits a second chance - a small glimmer of hope in the form of hushed whispers and shadow wrapped blades.

Appearance and Personality

- If we can't go crazy once every while we might all go crazy.

K’haz is a young Miqo’te with disheveled black hair and traditional Sun Seeker markings. He has a scar on his left cheek and along the base of his throat. Gold, slanted eyes mark him as his father's son as well as his broad shoulders and lean frame. Though taller than average his Miqo’te heritage still leaves him a good few inches shorter than most other races.

Preferring to wear comfortable clothes with few trimmings that get in the way, K’haz harbors a very simplistic look. His only accessories are his medic bag and an elder wood staff which he uses as a cane after a run in with some Garleans left him crippled. He also has a wand and dagger strapped to his legs at all times.

Sometimes acting like a child on stilts, his teasing; mischievous demeanor can hide a sharp mind burdened by brooding pessimism. K'haz has spent years wearing his jester's mask and it takes a very close friend to pry it off.

History

- I'm afraid this war will never end. I'm afraid it will end. Because what does a soldier do when there's no one left to fight?

Early Life

Born to the nomadic Hipparion Tribe, K’haz spent most of his young life deep within the dunes of the Sagolii Desert. For eleven years he struggled for his mother's attention via shadowing his elder brother. After his mother's death K'haz's hero worship prompted him to follow his brother's depressive spiral. It was only when K'raqi got his act together that K'haz sought to do the same.

Determined to stand on his own two feet K'haz left the tribe at sixteen. However tribal culture had ill prepared him for the City State Ul’dah and it wasn’t long until he found himself making poor choices; choices that eventually landed him to become a soldier in the Immortal Flames.

Military Career

K’haz took to the military like he took to water. Not well. His poor attitude and weakness in arms made basic difficult and it wasn’t until it was discovered that he held some talent with Aether that things really got moving.

Eventually making Staff Sergeant, K’haz continued his career as a combat medic until his twenty second year. Disillusioned by the trials of war and a broken friendship, K’haz decided to go AWOL during the chaos of Cartenau.

For a time he hid amongst the members of his old tribe before setting out on his own again. He eventually found a home in Gridania and the Fane.

Today

It took two years for K’haz to get back on his feet - and has only recently managed to rid himself of his alcohol dependency. Despite his dislike for the military they still did a good job with training him and he now struggles with the day to day things of civilian life.

Current events have dragged him away from Gridania and back to Ul’dah where he was forced to face some familiar faces. Now that some of his old debts are finally settled, K’haz is finding some semblance of peace at the house of a good friend. One might even argue that he is on his way to becoming productive member of society though those close to him are quick to disagree.

Skills/Weaknesses

K’haz is brilliant with shields and an excellent healer. He is practiced in both magic and non-magic healing methods and has a good grasp on herbology. The army and tribal life has armed him with an impressive set of survival skills. Also he can hold his drink like no ones business.

However without all that? K'haz is just a skinny dude with a stick. Even with aether he's all defence, a tank without a gun so to speak.

All in all K’haz is best standing on the sidelines - casting shields and keeping everyone else on their feet.

Likes/Dislikes

K'haz spends his free time doing one of the following: reading, practicing magic, sleeping, drinking, healing, and or eating. He also enjoys pestering his friends from time to time but that's more a 'to pass the time thing' then a real hobby.

A very active person, K'haz does everything in his power to avoid boredom, sometimes at other people's expense. However if excitement equals fighting K'haz would do everything in his power to avoid it, especially if it involves fighting sentient beings like Hyurs, Miqo'te or any of the other races. The only thing K'haz hates more than seeing blood being spilled is the feeling of uselessness.

Relationships

  • Razeiel Venaire: K'haz and Raze's relationship is an interesting one, having been built after the two tore each other apart over drinks. Though the pair may seem antagonistic towards each other, they are actually quite close with a bond bordering on brotherhood.
  • X'Yeukiih Tia: K'haz's partner in crime, X'yeukiih has been with K'haz through thick and thin and is always happy to go along with his schemes. Currently the pair are mates though far from exclusive.
  • K'raqi Nunh: K'haz's elder brother. The two haven't spoken to each other in years. There relationship is a touch strained on K'haz's end.
  • Gerik Aston: K'haz met Gerik through Raze. So far the two haven't talked much though they did bond over cinnamon rolls and a kidnapping...Gerik's kidnapping.
  • Aeiteil Strand:A friend of K'haz's who was regretfully left behind in Gridania. The two have sadly lost contact since K'haz's coming to Ul'dah.
  • Elise: A paladin K'haz has great respect for. The pair have been on a few adventures together and though their meeting wasn't the best they are on their way to becomming allies.
  • Tristian: An adopted younger brother of sorts. More hard headed than K'haz, the two often have trouble seeing eye to eye. Despite this, K'haz has still taken it upon himself to look after the kit.
  • Leyanna Beraud: Leyanna used to be K'haz's closest friend and lover. The two have had a falling out since Bahamut however and even though they've...somewhat patched things up they still arn't on speaking terms.

Affiliations

- it's not a question of freedom, it's a question of who has the nicest cage.

K'haz is affiliated with the Blades, a very secretive organization bent on bettering Eorzea no matter what the cost.
