Relationships

Family

The Clay family is a respected trading, scholarly and military family reigning from Ul'dah for many generations: Clay Enterprises, founded 1205 Sixth Astral Era. It started out simply trading with local merchants and grew into a conglomerate.

Branric Clay, her father (Deceased, 1572): He was a guard to the Sultans for much of his life. He joined the Immortal Flames in the struggles against Garlemald and lost his life at Carteneau.

Edlyne Abney Clay, her mother (Deceased, 1577): She was a merchant's daughter who fell in love with a guard. She recently passed away due to illness.

Putnam Clay, oldest brother (Whereabouts unknown): He followed in his father's footsteps as a guard. He disappeared about 15 years ago and they are uncertain if he is still alive.

Wade Clay, second oldest brother (Alive, Limsa Lominsa): A scholar who left at a young age and traveled Eorzea. He settled down in Limsa.

Sheldon Clay, third oldest brother (Alive, Ul'dah): He took up the trading business when Grandfather Auron Clay passed away. He remains in Ul'dah keeping the business going.

Auron Clay, Grandfather (Deceased, 1566): He held a long reign as headmaster until his passing of old age.

Too many extended family to count and list. Only one sticks out:

Eogard Abney, uncle (Deceased, 1577): Weasel of man, not as reputable and seen as a disowned family member. He was murdered by the non-royal sect of Syndicate.

History/Timeline

Lina was born into a prestigious rich family in Ul'dah. Being the youngest of four, the rest all boys, her mother got a hold to make sure she grew into a fine, noble woman. Much of her childhood was spent in books. After learning about the Conjurers and white magic in books, she requested to join them and learn more first hand. Her mother happily agreed in hopes of the family's first white mage. Five years of training in Gridania with her oldest brother as her bodyguard, he suddenly went missing. Terrified that perhaps a competitive family was targeting them, Lina was forced to return back to Ul'dah.

After the disappearance of her brother, she looked into learning more martial abilities to properly defend herself. As she grew older, she studied more about Paladins and set out to become one. The looming threat of the Garleans drove her goal harder. Sadly she could not join her father for the battle of Carteneau, which he lost his life in the battle.

Two years later, she was finally accepted as a Paladin. Though her mind still looked out to the horizon to the north, she could not let her grief go with the death of her father. Shortly after her mother became ill. They struggled to keep her healthy, but a few months ago she finally passed away.
