GENERAL

T'AVHAR TIA is a young Seeker of the Sun caught in a crossroads. Stuck between an all too-recent dark past and an uncertain future, T'avhar has yet to find a path for himself. While he has made a modest living as a bodyguard, he can't say he's happy just yet. As a former slave and underground fighter, most would not assume his violent and troubled nature hidden under a rather ill-practiced and awkward smile.

Given Name: T'avhar Tia
Aliases/Nicknames: More commonly known as Vhar the Unbound in the underground, he has not used that name in a long time, nor does he care for it.
Current Residence: He was offered a room when he began his employment at the Bastion.
Marital Status: Single
Sexuality: Demisexual
Religion: Does not really follow any set religion, he lost his faith a long time ago.

APPEARANCE

Height: 6 fulms, 1 ilm - T'avhar is above the average height for most male Miqo'te.
Weight: 180 ponz - He has an extremely fit and toned body, most of his weight being pure muscle.
Body: T'avhar is well-built and strong. While not overly bulky, it is clear his body has seen many fights and he keeps himself fit.
Complexion: With the naturally tanned skin of a Seeker, T'avhar's skin holds some of the warmness of those born in the tribe but lacks the richness thanks to much of his life spent underground and in the dark.
Face: While still young, T'avhar's face holds signs of someone who has been through much in his life. With high cheek bones and a defined jaw, he's good looking minus much of his face being marred with scars.
Hair: His hair is often tied back under some sort of bandana or wrap. T'avhar keeps it longer and relatively messy. It is a naturally ashen brown color.
Fashion: T'avhar is a simple person, liking simple clothes and clothes that suit their purpose. While on the job, he has a worn set of full armor he wears, lined with mail and leather. It is lightweight but durable. He likes warm and earthen tones, including reds and golds. But will often well more neutral greys and blues as well.

BACKSTORY

Early Life
Much of T'avhar's earliest memories are of darkness and a cold cell. He knows of his mother, a young Seeker woman who was little more than a slave to a wealthy Ul'dahn merchant, only by what his father told him. Neither ever knew her name. His father, T'vhas, was a once proud Nuhn from a small tribe in the lands near Doma. He became a refugee, the last of his tribe to survive the Garlean attacks and fled to Eorzea. He barely remembers the night he was attacked, bound and drugged, only to wake up in the dark and cold cell of one of Ul'dah's many dark secrets.

T'vhas was made to fight a blood sport for the entertainment of Ul'dahn men and women, in a far more darker and secret gladiatorial ring hidden underground. Far different than the Blood Sands of glory known in the city, these fights were often to the death and for little more than to line the betting pockets of the corrupt and the rich. The fighters were often taken against their will and forced to fight against beast, beastmen, and each other.

This was the life T'avhar was born into, a birth arranged by the same corrupted men who held his father for years against his will. His father was forced to bed a woman and then train T'avhar. T'vhas was one of the most skilled and known fighters in the underground and a son would have been expected to be the same.

T'avhar has little memory of much else besides the darkness of the holding cells and his father's constant presence in his early life. T'vhas was kind yet stern, and he remembers there was a fire in his father's eyes that never went out.

The Pit
T'avhar was thrown into his first fight when he was merely twelve. Many bet that the boy would die, but the one who claimed both his father and himself as his property knew better. The son of T'vhas would not go down easily. T'avhar remembers being absolutely terrified, pitted against a great warbear from the Dravanian wilds. The young Seeker however, felled the beast after a long and troubled fight. It was the start of his new life and new name in the underground.

After that day, much of the days, moons and years after blended together in much the same way. He lived and breathed the pit. Injury after injury, building a map of scars across his body. T'avhar's life was simple: fight, bleed, heal, train with his father, and return each night to the cold and dark cell.

People took notice of the two Seekers. They made their master quite a bit of earnings. It was not something that was well-liked among the other nobles. Both T'avhar and his father began being set against beasts and others with unfair disadvantages placed against them. He clearly remembers several times where he was openly attacked in his cell, or crippled with poison. But neither ever gave in.

The Unbound
With growing pressure from the other nobles, their master finally was forced to end their reign over the pit. And father and son were forced to fight one another in the ring, to the death. T'vhas spoke to his son well into the night, willing to take the blow and more than unwilling to slay his son. T'avhar refused. His father was all he had in this world of darkness. But his father made him swear he would take his life in the ring the following morning.

The battle was long. And while T'avhar all but refused to strike out as his father, T'vhas' urged his son to fight, to let him fall with the honor of a warrior. T'avhar still remembers the feeling of sinking his sword through the breast of his father. The sting of the wounds he earned in that fight, and the scars littering his body from it are a constant reminder.

He changed that day. His mind grew dark, and the fury he fought with on the battlefield could not be matched. His master gave him the name of Vhar the Unbound, no longer held down by his father, or anyone for that matter. And T'ahvar suffered years with this title, still trapped in the same cold cell as before.

Release
When T'avhar turned 25, a mysterious man came to his cell and offered him release. He never knew why, or who the man was, but he was led from the pits and into the sun for the first time in his life. He was left with little to nothing, save a blade and his knowledge on how to use one. Life with the refugees was strange. He found himself anxious, hungry and alone. And he almost desired the normalcy of the fights.

He took his sword to work. He began offering services as a bodyguard to the people in Ul'dah, and earned gil enough to get by. He saved for a proper set of armor, and a shield. And he adopted the Tia to his name to feel more like he belonged, and to raise less suspicions. He had no tribe, in truth, he was neither nuhn or tia. But he did not know what else to name himself. And so he set out to make himself a better person.

RECENT HISTORY

After several months of work, T'avhar fell into something he might have called a normal life if he was not constantly plagued by nightmares and memories of the pit. Fights sometimes trigger memories of his time in the dark, and he slips away into his bloodied past and pains. On the outside, he tries desperately to be himself, the man who was never allowed to be what he was. But it is a daily struggle.

T'avhar has found himself in his first long-term contract only recently. After saving a young Miqo'te by the name of Resh'to from a group of drunks outside the Quicksand, he was offered work by the boy's older brother as his bodyguard. He now has a small room within their home and has become Resh'to's constant shadow.
