General Information
In Ul’dah, she would have been called haughty. Arrogant. Dressing above her station. You’re not a scholar, you’re just a dancing girl. Go crawl back to your apartment and don’t dream of anything better.
Well, at least the “haughty” and “arrogant” parts were right. But she would not go back to those who doubted her. She would be better, achieve more, and show them that she was more than a dancing girl - and that dancing girls, in general, should not be underestimated.
When she stepped off the ship in Limsa Lominsa, she felt no fear. There was no regret. No wavering. Here, she would make her stand. Miqo’te were just as good at scholarly work as any other race could be.
They’d know her name, eventually.
Appearance
Nhepto kept her hair as out of the way as she could, hoping that the messy braid would hold and not fall onto the fresh ink of her hastily-scribbled page. Her long, thin ears twitched. The lecture was long and barely understandable, but she narrowed her pale blue eyes and kept at it. She was starting to get a headache. Nhepto pressed her thumb to the red mark on her forehead, trying to rub out the pain.
Ink, in her pause, dripped from her quill onto her brown pants, the sleeve of her green scholar’s bolero, and finally, her pale hand itself. She licked her thumb and hastily tried to scrub out the stains. A snicker to her right. She glared at the Elezen and went back to writing. She would have to wash later, she internally cringed. In the meantime, there was a lecture to attend to.

Mannerisms
She kept to herself at her desk, most of the time. In the quiet of the empty classroom, she was free to drum her fingers as loud as she wanted without disturbing anyone. Nhepto paused, counting on her fingers the answer to the next equation. It was something that damned Elezen next to her always had a comment about. Excuse the hell out of her if not everyone was spouting numbers upon exiting the womb! It was easier this way. Kept the numbers from dancing upside-down and backwards.
Clack clack clack went her tongue against the roof of her mouth, satisfied with her work. Nhepto lightly blew on the ink to set it, but not enough to make it run, and cleaned her quill tip meticulously. But again, her hands and forearms were stained. Thankfully she’d taken off her robes sometime earlier. She groaned and beat her head against the desk a few times. Everyone else did it so easily! And yet here she was, dotted in ink from her bitten nails to her dirty shoes.
Nhepto sighed and grabbed a cloth from the front of the room and began scrubbing the desk and floor, making sure to get as much as she could. Not that the desks weren’t already stained from decades of use, but she refused to be messy and add to that. She ground her teeth as she worked, the irritation setting in.
One day, she would get this right.
Philosophy & Ideals
Nhepto’s only friend was a Roegadyn, Devoted Dune - a Hellsguard, young, barely a man. Excitable, eager to please. Both of them determined to rise above their station. He had earned her trust after muscling through a crowd of students who had decided that she was an easy target. His too-small robes nearly burst as he gently picked up each smaller student in turn, setting them elsewhere so he could get to the waifish Miqo’te who’d backed up against the wall.
“I don’t need help!” she protested, hands on hips, neck craned back to glare at the man.
But he just gave a hearty laugh and said, “Oh, I know! I just enjoy a good show!”
Nhepto chuckled despite herself and followed her newfound companion through the path he’d made for her.
The two bonded fast over a similar past - both Ul’dahn natives, both in exploitative positions (her, a dancer; him, a sellsword), both trying to escape into what they felt they were born to do. They both felt that good talent was wasted when the poor could not afford to follow their passions, and they wanted to bring their good fortune back to their homeland.
They did, however, want recognition. Fame. Glory. To be something people could not ignore. And so they made a pact. Even when separated, they would tell stories of each other. Even if, they laughed, it was slightly embellished for flavor. It was more fun that way.
