He grew up in Forgotten Springs in the Sahgoli Desert under the care of the U clan, learning how to hunt and survive in the harsh environs of Southern Thanalan. Due to a series of unfortunate events, Zamza left his clan behind when he was old enough and made his way to Ul'dah to start a new life for himself. His bad luck seemed to follow him, though, and after a few years he found himself in gaol for a crime he didn't commit. A mysterious benefactor calling himself Mr. K paid for Zamza's release, essentially 'purchasing' him as a kind of indentured servant under some law (that might not even exist), and bade Zamza join the Bloodsands as a gladiator. Eventually he hopes to make enough money to purchase his freedom, but that seems like a long ways down the road. Part of the release agreement states that Zamza is never to leave Thanalan, so he spends most of his time either in Ul'dah or the surrounding environment. Recently, though, he's been testing the bounds of the contract with frequent excursions to Limsa with his girlfriend, Rihxo Matoi. When not with his lady friend or fighting in Bloodsands matches, he devotes a lot of time to training, both for physical fitness and proficiency with arms. In his spare time, he's contracted out for mercenary work to various clients. And when he gets a moment to himself, he can usually be found in the Quicksand having a drink. Zamza's streak of bad luck continued recently when Mr. K's thugs ambushed him. He was subdued and thrown in gaol again for a period of two months. An agreement was eventually negotiated between Zamza and his criminal overlords that allows him a higher degree of freedom, but keeps him permanently in debt until the day he dies. Thus, Zamza is destined to be gil-less until he can figure out a way to solve this dilemma. Zamza doesn't care much for politics. He's lived among Ul'dah's destitute and knows all too well that the only thing that drives the wheels of the government is money. He hates the injustice of the social divide and would do anything for a chance to make a difference. He's also woefully behind on global events, not having had a chance to stay abreast of the ever-changing political climate between the nations of Eorzea. He is currently employed by the Red Wings free company, where he works as a security consultant. Height: 5 fulms 8 ilms Weight: 163 ponz Complexion:  Sun-kissed Tan Hair:  Sandy Blonde Eyes:  Electric Blue Zamza has a narrow, classically shaped face full of youthful vigor, with high cheekbones and a prominent but finely tapered chin. His eyes are bright and shockingly blue and hooded by thick, dark lashes. Underneath his eyes are two markings the color of burnt sienna that arc down his cheeks like the blades of two scythes. He has a straight, thin nose and lips a few shades dark than his tanned complexion. Amazingly, he has no scars on his face despite his refusal to wear a helmet while he's fighting; whether this is due to his skill, pure dumb luck, or some combination of the two, however, remains to be seen. Years of living in the harsh desert, coupled with his fanatical devotion to training, have left Zamza with a body that is nothing but lean muscle and sinew. He stands tall for a Miqo'te at 5'8", and he has surprisingly broad shoulders. You wouldn't think it from looking at his wiry physique, but there's a deceptive amount of power in those muscles. His legs are well-toned, and his long tail scrapes the tip of the ground when he relaxes it; its fur is the same sandy blonde shade as his hair and ears, and it's feline in appearance. Like his face, there are no scars present on his body, but he usually has a bruise or two somewhere. His tone of voice is deeper than you might expect, given his young appearance. He usually speaks clearly and slowly, trying hard to use proper diction; but when he gets riled up, his elocution escalates and he starts using slang or improper grammar. He's quick to laugh, though, and finds humor in many things. His laughter starts with a bass pitch and rises in a merry crescendo. Zamza is usually surrounded by an earthy musk smelling of sandalwood and seawater, with a touch of silver tequila under it all. Zamza is a friendly sort of fellow and usually loves meeting new people. However, his tendency to be snarky can throw people for a loop. He can't seem to resist cracking wise, and has ended up in a sticky situation more than once on account of his mouth. To him, it's all in good fun, but not all people see it that way. Insightful people might infer that Zamza's sarcasm is a way to shut himself out from other people and remain guarded; this is partially true, as he does have some trust issues. But mostly he just jokes around with people because he thinks it's hilarious. He's also something of a flirt sometimes, but again, this is more for his own amusement than anything else. Despite being strictly heterosexual, he's even been known to jokingly hit on guys just to get a reaction out of people. Once he's gotten close to someone, he's much more willing to talk about his personal feelings or issues. For the most part, he doesn't like to discuss his problems with others and tries to take care of everything by himself. He's more apt to be considerate of the feelings of his close friends or loved ones, so usually he cuts back on the snarkiness a little (but just a little!).
