GENERAL INFORMATION
L'yuta Tia (24th Sun, 2nd Astral Moon) is a registered conjurer from the city-state of Gridania, with roots in Ul'dah and the Sagolii desert.
APPEARANCE & PERSONALITY
L'yuta around average height for a male miqo'te, with scruffy brown hair and bright amber eyes. His lean, wiry frame is more due to his high metabolism and miqo'te physiology than strenuous physical activity, but he is still surprisingly agile and can hold his own (for a while) in a fistfight.
Quick-witted and alert, L'yuta can be prone to hesitation, especially when there is risk of injury involved. He prefers tried-and-true methods over high risk, high reward ones. He is often frustrated when others dive into situations without considering the consequences, and as a result, developed a snappy, sarcastic, and direct attitude when dealing with other people. When he isn't being a terrible sport, L'yuta has a tendency to keep to himself, and doesn't like imposing his problems on others.
MISCELLANEOUS
■ He lets people assume he had been raised a conjurer, and is perfectly happy not talking about his knife talent and questionable pre-healing line of work.

Insensitive. He is blunt, honest, and to the point, which can be jarring. Stubborn. It's hard for L'yuta to admit that he is wrong, and it's harder for him to own up and apologize. Reserved. He is not trying to hide anything in particular, but he doesn't disclose much about himself unprompted. Also tends to be rather silent and detached unless he has something negative to say. |

BACKSTORY
Born in the arid and unforgiving Sagolii Desert, L'yuta was raised a hunter. His mother was responsible for the majority of his upbringing, and as a result L'yuta holds an indifferent attitude toward his biological father.
Years later, L'yuta's mother grew enamored with a soldier from Ul'dah. She took her son and moved into the city, married the soldier, and joined the Immortal Flames to accompany him. They were dispatched to Gridania to assist the Adders, and both presumably killed at Carteneau, but their bodies were never recovered.
As the people of Eorzea began rebuilding, L'yuta relocated to Gridania with the faintest hope of finding any sort of information about his missing mother and her husband. He spent the next few moons in small refugee camp, where he would attempt to take on odd jobs during the day for pocket change while asking around for information concerning his parents.
Already distrustful of outsiders, especially after the events of the Autumn War, Gridanian xenophobia was even stronger in the wake of the Calamity and the onslaught of refugees it brought. As a result, L'yuta was viewed as "just another refugee" from Ul'dah, and was treated as such. Jobs were hard to find, and most Gridanians would rather pay twice as much than hire a refugee for cheap. As a result, L'yuta became distressingly good at making gil through underhanded means - along with finding himself under the occasional employ and aid of Atreus Fulke.
Overestimating himself, he the mistake of impersonating a conjurer to assist an old hearer living in Quarrymill - with the intent of pocket as much gil and valuables as he could before disappearing. His lack of conjuring knowledge was discovered embarrassingly quickly, but instead of turning him in, the old hearer was reminded of the son he lost at Carteneau, and took L'yuta in as an apprentice.
Staunchly unenthusiastic at first, L'yuta spent the next few years properly learning the art of conjury. The old hearer passed away quietly not long after that, and L'yuta packed his bags and left the Twelveswood, determined to sate the restlessness that had been building ever since he left Ul'dah.
