In her not-too distant past, she was a street rat of the truest form, and isn't afraid to flaunt her heritage. Her rough demeanor and lack of manners seems to put off those of a finer disposition at first, though her kind-hearted nature tends to win people over in the end. Most of the time she means well, even if she is in the habit of opening her mouth before she thinks about the consequences of her words. APPEARANCE The young woman is pint-sized for a Highlander. Though in a bit better physical shape than a few years back when she was fresh off the streets, Mandy still seems to be skin wrapped around sinew and bone, her physique made of flat planes and sharp points. She doesn't have much of a girlish figure, being almost flat as a board both front and back, and it is not uncommon for people to mistake her for a boy. As for notable features, Mandy has an old, naturally-healed scar that stretches from the tip of her nose to the bottom of her right ear. Her dark brown eyes can often times seem too big for her face, especially when surprised or scared. She has thin lips and hollow cheeks, and when she smiles, more often than not it comes across as snarky and ingenuine. All together, she creates a somewhat cute, but fairly plain picture. She moves with a slight limp on her left leg. If exposed, her left leg shows lots of deep, pitted scars down its length on the front. LIKES BANTER. Gods knows the girl loves her snark. A good-natured battle of the wits is sure to put a grin on her face. BAD JOKES. The more groan-worthy, the better! FOOD. FOOD. Food? FOOD! Foooooooood... FREE FOOD. What's the only thing better than food? Food you don't have to pay for. DISLIKES DISORGANIZED CABINETS. Okay, well, disorganized bandages. How hard is it to keep your grubby mitts off the bandages?! STUBBORN PEOPLE. At least, when she's in triage. Why come visit a mender if you're not going to listen? ROE MEN. They scare her. STRENGTHS STUBBORN. Once she sets her mind to something, it seems to happen, one way or another, like it or not! SMART. She'd argue against it until her last breath, but the girl has a good head on her shoulders, most of the time. SELF-AWARE. Mandy is painfully aware of her limits as a person, and tries to work well around and through them. WORK ETHIC. If asked, it's easy to have a good work ethic when people's lives are depending on you. A missed class or a chapter behind could mean the difference between her friends living or dying. WEAKNESSES STUBBORN. It's been said that arguing with her is not much unlike slamming your head against a brick wall. SELF-ESTEEM. Who would ever want a second-rate healer with no tits? IGNORANCE. Being able to read and having a general working knowledge of the world outside the gutters was for people who didn't need to figure out when and where their next meal was going to be. She has a lot of catching up to do! WEAK. She can talk a big talk, but if blows come to fists, she's at a serious disadvantage. COMBAT & WEAPONRY Mandy almost always has a staff on her person. Though she doesn't know how to use it as a piratical weapon, she can make up for that a bit with her conjury. The teen is proficient in most of the basic spells of her craft, and has been known to defend herself with a good-sized rock to the face, a painfully biting gust of wind, or to knock people back with a sudden burst of water to the face. She might be more smol than swol, but that doesn't mean she's defenseless. For hand-to-hand combat, Mandy is at a serious disadvantage. She has great reflexes born out of her time on the streets, so the girl can dodge a lot of things coming her way(as long as she sees them coming), but she couldn't take much punishment if something lands. And if she tried to deliver blows herself? She could probably cause a good bit of pain with her staff if she landed a lucky blow or two, but her fists probably wouldn't be much more than a nuisance. BACKSTORY Mandy was orphaned at a young age. She lived with her mother near Little Ala Migho, and found herself suddenly on her own after a robbery went wrong that left her mother dead and herself lost and homeless. An incident drove her from the caves and crevices of the refugee shanty-town to Ul'dah, where she survived(as well as one could) on Pearl Lane until just a few cycles ago. She survived mostly on picking pockets and scrounging for scraps, though once she got too big to slip about unnoticed she abandoned risky thievery and took more to sitting around and begging. IN THE BEGINNING As luck would have it, Mandy caught the attention of Lukas Madrazo. She took an immediate liking to the older Miqo'te who would come around with a handful of gil, food, or a bit of small talk to take her mind off of her situation. After coming into a windfall of gil from a random gentleman, the teen took up an almost permanent residence of Lukas' couch and made the decision to start trying to study as a mender to try and make a living one day. A random chance of catching snippets of conversation led her to approaching Eyvindr Kolrast and R'mehro Deadeye in the Quicksand. Vin had been speaking of some sort of mending potion or the like, and Mandy approached the pair asking for instruction. Rem convinced Vin to take Mandy on as an extremely fledgling student. She worked to hone and grow her skills. She studied her craft almost obsessively, pouring over books(slowly, as reading has never come easy to her), and picking other mender's minds when she's able. RECENTLY Mandy has become a bit of a loner as of late. There is no one organization she can say she's tied to with any perminance, though she keeps returning to a certain tavern where old friends can often be found. Every once in a while, though, she disappears for a bit, striking out on her own to find new ways of getting into trouble. Still, she continues to study, and continues to try and grow her skills as well as she can. LIST OF FAMILY MEMBERS Siobahn Milner, mother. ( ❖ Deceased ) Thoughts: "Ya finally fuckin' won." Sio was the closest thing Mandy ever knew to a mother, though it was impossible for her to define their relationship togehter in that way while the savvy Monetarist was still among the living. The woman taught Mandy a great many valuable lessons, and holds a dear place in the young woman's heart. Often when she perceives herself as 'doing well' in one way or another her thoughts will turn to this woman and hope that she would be proud of her. Edwarde Nan Tavius, father. ( – ● Neutral ) Thoughts: "Well fuck." Those close to Mandy would most likely know this man as "Th'fucker who says 'e's m'dad". There is no hard and fast way to prove Edwarde's paternity, except maybe for the amount of facts he knows about her from her early childhood. It would probably help the situation if she could remember anything from before having to fend for herself. He is still the only person besides a select few to know the date of her nameday, and he has a stubborn habit of hanging around and keeping an idle presence in Mandy's life, even if she isn't completely open to the idea. Lukas Madrazo, sibling. ( ♥ Platonic Love 🔒 Trust) Thoughts: ”Ain't know where I'd be withou' ya. An' 'onestly, ain't wanna think 'bout et too much, ei'er.” Lukas is the one person who has had the most positive influence on Mandy's life. If it were not for him, she may very well have died like so many others in one of the dark corners of Pearl Lane. When she needed it the most he gave her a roof, an education, and some semblance of stability. She doesn't see him or talk to him as much as she would like to these days, but she's always up for an adventure if it means being able to go with her chosen brother at her side. I just tend to only add these as necessary for those who make a real impact on Mandy, and descriptions are purely based upon in character experiences and opinions. Back in the day Mandy and Kri were quite the trouble-making pair. Their foul-mouthed, loud natures feed easily off of each other and each joke and affectionate verbal jab seems to grow raunchier than the last until other more sensible folk around them end up giving the good friends dirty looks! The dynamic duo have grown apart a bit as of late as life seems to have sent them along different paths, but one day they may make it back together again, and Twelve help those who reside in their path. Avery is one of Mandy's closest friends and confidants. The man is infuriatingly logical, but kind under the cool exterior he presents to others. Mandy has been quite hung up on the Maelstrom Inspector for a good long time now, with nothing along the romantic lines to show for it. Even though she would like to press him for more, she holds the greatest value in their friendship, and will continue to show up on his doorstep with drama, presents, and unwanted adventures. Art ABOUT THE PLAYER I am 33 years old, and have a nine year old son. I also have two cats, a dog, a gerbil, and two horses. I work full time, am in school, and try to juggle a household. My life can get immeasurably busy, and there will be times when I try to rp and will be interrupted(sometimes a great deal), and there will be many other times where I won't be able to be on for any substantial amount of time(more than a couple days a week). Separate IC and OOC Mandy is a little, skinny, Savo-obsessed, vodka-drinking, previously homeless orphan with a strong personality and sometimes a bad attitude. That is not me. There are times when Mandy will be mean, will fly off the handle and cuss people out, and just be down right raunchy and impolite.
