Seeking Members Introduction Tucked away in a little corner of the Mist is a small oasis of paradise known as The Keeper’s Rest. Thavnarian elegance melds peacefully with Eorzean amenities to craft a space designed for pampering and relaxation. Staffed by only the most well-trained, highest-grade Courtesans in the realm to attend to the needs of all of the Rest’s patrons, The Keeper’s Rest separates itself from the common with its attention to detail and staff who care deeply for her patrons. The staff of this little paradise offer, above all else, companionship and genuine appreciation for all who enter her space. The Keeper’s Rest is a heavy RP Free-Company and Linkshell on the Balmung Server. This Company seeks to offer a comfortable and welcoming space of pampering and luxury to the In-Character High-Class society of the realm. The Company Staff is a collection of well-trained, well-educated Courtesans who offer a wide menagerie of skills to take care of their patrons. Please see the Services page for a list of services offered by our staff – and if there is a service there that you would like to see offered in the future or one you feel that your character can bring to the Company, please do not be shy to bring it up with the Company Leader. We ask all of our staff and patrons to keep in mind that this is not an ERP/sex-based Company. Our staff and Company members offer many skills and talents beyond just physical carnal needs. This Company is also not one that offers services for in-game gil (though tips are accepted and greatly appreciated), as we care more about the RP environment than the size of your wallet. Furthermore, the members of this Company are not here to be your blood-dolls, drama outlets, or to behave as common whores. If this doesn’t sound like the environment for you, as either a patron or a member of staff, there are numerous other options on Balmung – we ask that you do not try to force your characters into a space that they would not normally fit. We greatly appreciate your understanding. On a final note, the Company is not an exclusive Free Company. We realize that many players have Companies that they are already involved and invested in for various reasons, and as a primarily RP oriented organization we do not want to ask our members to leave their own groups to come be a part of ours. The city-state of Radz-at-Han is located on and governs the island. It is known for its alkali sands and the blistering heat of its midday sun. The island's desert climate makes it difficult to grow wheat, making imported high-quality flour valuable on Thavnair. The stone Giantsgall is found only on Thavnair possessing exceptional hardness. Its name is derived from the legend of a Far Eastern hero who voyaged to the island and vanquished a savage giant. A nearby stone drank up the giant’s blood and gall, receiving its strength. Lassi is a drink made from cultured milk popular in Thavnair. The mint variety is known for its ability to offset the heat while Rolanberry lassi is known for its ability to soothe the burn of heavily-spiced dishes. Chocobo enjoy the flavor of Thavnairian onions, which are pungent and tear-inducing and Han lemons, which are foul and bitter. The Adamantoise is a species of giant turtle native to Thavnair. Long thought to be impossible to domesticate, the efforts of Ul’dahn zoologists have managed to tame a handful these colossal scalekin. The people of Thavnair are famed for their alchemy. Thavnairian mistletoe is a potent variety of parasitic plant commonly found growing on acacia trees. According to custom, if two people meet beneath mistletoe, they must exchange shoes. Thavnairian mistletoe is a major ingredient in X-Potions, X-Ether, and Hi-Elixirs—as well as Spiritbond Potion. Thavnairian Mist is a concentrated elixir created on the island and invented by Jalzahn. Citation From: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Thavnair Lore-wise there is very little known about Thavnair at this point and time, and much of this section is based around what little we do know alongside some personal headcanons. This section is also very likely to change at a later date once we receive more lore-based information (hopefully during Stormblood) on this mysterious little island! Thavnair, being a medium-sized island, surprises the world with its far-reach of luxuries and influence. Many of Eorzea’s alchemical advances are thanks-in-part to the research and supplies from the Radz-at-Han nation. Alongside alchemical influence, we see examples of Thavnairian culture in the beautiful, yet sturdy, collection of outfits and weaponry from this near-eastern state. It is suggested, then, that the people of Thavnair are also strong-willed and sturdy people to have not only survived, but thrived in the desert landscapes around them. There are hints that, much like Ul’dah, Thavnair is a state of wealth from its unique collection of exports with luxuries interwoven into all that they offer. For the sake of this Company’s existence, there is an assumption that their Courtesans would be much the same: strong, physically and mentally. Given the nature of such an island, it can be believed that the Courtesans would be expected to know how to pamper and care for the higher-class citizenry of Radz-at-Han, along with how to defend and support themselves. Radz-at-Han would likely have little need or tolerance for the uneducated, thus even their Courtesans would need to know a wide array of skills to make themselves useful to the state as well as their patrons. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      From Eorzea to Space (Firefly Inspiration)      ᣁᣁ The first inspiration for this company comes in the form of the show “Firefly.” In the show, we are introduced to the character Inara, who works as a Companion. By definition of the show, a Companion is “a skilled, well-educated and well-respected member of a guild of professional courtesans/entertainers… While they do frequently engage in a form of state-sanctioned prostitution, they are nonetheless treated with a great deal of respect and deference by nearly everyone.” The education of these Companions is made prominent by Inara herself when she states, “A companion chooses her own clients, that's guild law. But physical appearance doesn't matter so terribly, you look for a compatibility of spirit." The idea of Courtesans being highly educated, well respected, and well trained, is what the Company bases itself around. A desire to create a truly high-class environment for both staff and patrons, wherein the Courtesans are viewed as an integral part of society rather than seen as something common or undesirable. Companions in Firefly are portrayed as high-society, regal, elegant, smart, and strong. A few important notes that also influenced the creation of the Company are as follows: “A Companion greets a client and bids that client farewell with ceremony, and the act of lovemaking is designed to make each client feel that he or she is special and valued - only one of the reasons an evening with a Companion is so highly sought after." “Contracting with a Companion earns the client 'an evening of pleasure' that goes far beyond the sexual encounter. A Companion is trained to listen, to entertain, to soothe, and even to offer advice, for they are well-versed on any variety of subjects from politics to the economy. A Companion knows traditional and contemporary dance. They are skilled musicians, schooled in literature, and stay current with all significant newsworthy events. Services Provided ∭∭       IC & OOC Etiquitte       ∭∭ When In-Character, clients of The Keeper’s Rest are expected to be of high-class society and wealthy. ICly, the Company requires a monthly payment to have access to the grounds, along with the necessary payment for any Courtesan’s requested times. This is part of your character’s display of wealth and belonging in high-society. Patrons are to act with proper decorum and modesty when in the presence of the Company, and treat their Courtesan with respect and care. Those that do not follow these basic rules and mistreat their Courtesans will be exiled from further contact or communication with the Company and its staff, and barred from Company property by physical force if necessary. It should be noted, OOCly, that no actual gil is required to be a part of the Company or Linkshell. As stated previously, this is not an erp-for-gil organization, but a RP environment to help immerse players into a high-class environment. Also understand that you are expected to be respectful ICly as well as OOCly to those within both the Company and the Linkshell. Those who cannot follow these rules will be removed and barred from further interactions. Finally, remember that this is a Heavy RP Environment. We expect our members (patrons and staff) to RP with some level of regularity. Almost all staff of The Keeper’s Rest are capable and trained in this basic service, to accompany you to whatever social event and present themselves with elegance and decorum and dazzle those around you.                                    Companionship    ⋘⋘ Have you ever wanted to spend a night with someone and have a good time, but seem to have a lack of someone to share your time with? Our Courtesans offer companionship, a genuine care and understanding that people have social desires beyond that of simply dazzling high-society. Whether it be a night out on the town or a romantic dinner, we have someone who will genuinely appreciate your company. ⋙⋙   Therapy                                All of the staff of The Keeper’s Rest are extensively knowledgeable of the mental and physical needs of their clients. Whether it be a sympathetic ear, a shoulder to cry on, or even assistance with physical therapy (in the case of injuries), these Courtesans will tend to your character’s needs with proper knowledge and empathy.                               Pampering    ⋘⋘ To make you feel as special as we can, our Courtesans offer pampering in many forms. Those trained in this service are dedicated to making you look and feel like the King or Queen you truly are. Come have a relaxing spa-day with us, you won’t regret it. ⋙⋙   Entertainment                                    There are some in high-society with a need of talent for shows. Many Courtesans of The Keeper’s Rest are gifted with such talents and can appear for shows or private events (accompanied by a guard) to display their talents. Singing, dancing, acting, sometimes even all three! Any Courtesan of our Company is sure to dazzle and shine, and make your event a standout for the foreseeable future.                          Sex    ⋘⋘ Whether it happens naturally from another service, or if that’s simply all the client desires, many (though not all) of our Courtesans are skilled in the art of lovemaking. Their goal is not simply sex, but to make the client feel loved and special, and to keep a line of communication and interaction open with the Company that our clients know that our staff do care about them. Rules ᣀᣀ      In-Character Rules & Behavior      ᣁᣁ The following rules are dedicated towards Courtesans and Staff of The Keeper’s Rest. These must be upheld ICly for the character to remain within the Company’s employ, and failure to follow these rules will lead to (IC) consequences. If you are interested in joining please make sure that your character can adhere to these requirements before going in for the IC meeting, lest it end in rejection. The Keeper’s Rest has high expectations of its staff. ⋙⋙   All Staff Must Have Foundational Education                                              The staff of The Keeper’s Rest are expected to be able to keep up with social and economic conversation that comes with the climate of high-class society. With such in mind, the Courtesans are tested on a broad range of foundational education, and are helped in areas that need strengthening. Furthermore, the staff are expected to continue to educate themselves in as many fields as they find interest in. Their foundational education is in the following: Reading, writing, calligraphy, math, science, economy, and world affairs. ⋙⋙   Not All Staff are Required to Perform All Services                                                          Different people have different talents, and those of The Keeper’s Rest do not expect their Courtesans to be able to perform every task to the highest standard. Thus, the Company allows different Courtesans to specialize in different areas of service specific to their talents to ensure the happiness of the staff, and the highest quality of service to the client. The Courtesans are, however, encouraged to train in areas or services where they are weaker, to offer a broader range to their clients. ⋙⋙   Staff are Held to High Etiquitte Standards                                Does the fork go on the left, or the right side? This question is never a problem for the staff of The Keeper’s Rest, as all members of the Company are expected (and trained) to know current etiquette standards for high-society. ⋙⋙   Training and Education Are Available To All Staff                                   Before a new Courtesan is admitted into the Company, they must first display a strong education, a desire to learn, or a desirable skill-set that would add to the environment. Once done, they enter a training phase, wherein they are given a strict training regimen to bring them up to the standards of a proper Courtesan of The Keeper’s Rest. Finally, a test is given to prove that the material has stuck before they are made a full-fledged Courtesan. However even after training, there is still training and education offered to further broaden their knowledge and skills. ⋙⋙   All Staff Reserve the Right to Refuse Service for Any Reason                                   Courtesans of The Keeper’s Rest choose their clients as much as their clients choose them. Thus said, the Courtesan is allowed to refuse service at any point during an encounter. This is not something to be upheld frivolously or without merit. The most common reason to refuse service is for mistreatment, verbally, physically, or emotionally. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      OOC Rules      ᣁᣁ Naturally, go to along with the IC rules are OOC rules that are expected to be followed by ALL members of both the FC and the Linkshell. Refusal to comply with the OOC rules will result in a far more swift reaction than the breaking of IC rules. A warning, suspension, or possible expulsion from the Company and Linkshell await those who choose to ignore these rules. Ignorance is not bliss. ⋙⋙   Respect Thy Neighbor                                              Respect given is respect earned, that is the motto for handling other members of the FC and LS. We expect everyone to treat everyone else with a level of respect, especially within public spaces. This means no public drama (take it to tells), no shit-talking, and no belittling. If another player is being abusive or actively breaking these rules please screenshot the encounter, get logs, and show a Company Admin ASAP. Let them deal with it, please do not try to play hero (as this, more often than not, only causes more drama). ⋙⋙   ALL Members Must Be 18 Years Or Older IRL                                                          This is not a kid-friendly FC or LS. It is a hard rule that all members of the Company and LS be over the age of 18 IRL. Those who are caught lying about this will be removed from the FC/LS immediately and permanently banned. ⋙⋙   You Do Not Have To Join The FC To Join The LS                                                          Whether you’re a member of staff or a client of the Company, you do not have to join the Free Company to join the Linkshell. All active members of the Company, staff and client, are expected to be in the Linkshell, but the Company is for staff who want quick access to the house and a room. We understand that people have friends, raid-groups, or other engagements with another Company that may not allow them to join our Company and that’s fine. We want people to be comfortable and have fun. ⋙⋙   No Means No (Consent Rule)                                IC Drama is fine, it keeps things eventful and interesting. However please be aware that this FC/LS strongly upholds the consent rule for violent, sexual, or otherwise character-altering events. Make sure all parties involved are notified and agree to the event OOCly before anything if RP’d out. Failure to do this can result in event ret-con, and further action by Company Admins depending on the severity. ⋙⋙   On Inactivity & Alts                                   While we know that everyone has a real-life that they have to attend to (and we will never punish you for that), we do want to keep the Company and LS active. We expect our members and staff to RP often, to keep up with events, and develop their characters with some level of consistency. If you expect to be gone from the game for a long period of time, speak with a Company Admin beforehand. If you find yourself bored with RP or want to focus on other areas of the game (exceptions being for the start of expansions), we ask that you take a temporary leave from the FC/LS so that people who are looking for RP don’t seek it from uninterested parties. Furthermore, we are a little hesitant about inviting alts into the FC/LS. For an alt to be accepted, they must be active like any other player or character. ⋙⋙   Branch Out From Your Circle                                                          People make friends, and it’s not unreasonable for people to want to hang out and interact more with those friends. That’s perfectly fine. However only interacting with a small group of the same characters and players without a desire to interact outside of that group is not friendly to the environment of the FC/LS, and may result in a request to change the behavior. ⋙⋙   Extravagant Characters Beware...                                                          The Company is NOT a good fit for any of the following types of characters: Voidsent, Dragonkin, Vampires/Werewolves, Cyborgs, Genetic Mutations, Chimeras, Time-Travelers, Dimensional Travelers, Zombies, Ascians, Warriors of Light/Dark, etc. I understand the desire to make your character interesting, and to make them stand out from the crowd, but please remember that this Company maintains that its characters are Lore-Friendly, which means minimal bending of canon to make a unique character. ⋙⋙   No Fantasiablood                                   This is the act of changing your character’s race, gender, majorly altering their appearance, or creating a whole new character. ICly we do not recognize Fantasia as a lore-canon item or effect. OOCly, if you change your character, they must re-enter the FC/LS and will be held to the same standards as any new character joining. ⋙⋙   This Is An RP Group First And Foremost                                   While we may refer to the FC and LS often as if they are two separate entities, please know that this is an RP group as a whole and one group cannot exist without the other. Every member of the group is valued and respected. Once again we do not want to hold anyone back from other aspects of the game, whether it be social, content, or just shit-posting in Ul’dah. Staff Positions & Heirarchy ᣀᣀ      Overview       ᣁᣁ Everyone in The Keeper’s Rest has a job that they offer or perform, whether for the House itself or for the clientele of the Company. Positions are more than just titles given for the sake of making people higher or lesser than another person, but exist as a symbol of responsibilities that a character has taken on to further the success of the Company as a whole. A character who takes on greater levels of responsibilities and displays dedication to their job will not be ‘rewarded’ with a greater title, but instead will be trusted with more important tasks and responsibilities and earn themselves a title fitting of their position. Below are a list of the current positions and jobs within the Company. Some positions, like Guard, Courtesan, and Client, are entry-level positions as well as a fitting title for many to stay. Positions in the hierarchy above those positions are only given to those who work and display aptitude for greater responsibilities. For instance, a Courtesan who expresses great skill in helping and teaching their fellow staff may be given the title of Matron or Patron, with the expectation that they are now responsible for their old duties alongside the new duties of training and mentoring their fellow staff when such is needed. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      Company Leader / House Head       ᣁᣁ This position is simple, and goes to the Head of the House and Company. Currently this is Mrin’zi Anate. The jobs of this position are numerous and can encompass all other jobs along with added responsibilities including: Maintaining the house, running the company, seeing to relations between other companies, maintaining and overseeing finances, hiring new staff, and ensuring the safety and comfort of staff. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      The High House       ᣁᣁ A collection of trusted staff who have proven themselves in loyalty and work-ethic, along with a small contingent of sponsors and allied Company representatives. The High House is a group that can be called upon to discuss important Company business, and help decide any new directions or needs for the Company as time progresses. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      Matron/Patron       ᣁᣁ Trusted and highly supportive Courtesans whom have proven themselves to show a great deal of compassion and leadership towards their fellow staff. Alongside their normal expected duties they are expected to act as mentors and counselors to the other Courtesans in the Company. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      Courtesan       ᣁᣁ The most numerous and well-known staff of The Keeper’s Rest are the Courtesans that give the Company its good name. These members of staff are expected to be poised, elegant, beautiful, intelligent, and compassionate. Their job is to perform a predetermined set of services (see the Services page) and be the face and personality of the Company. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      Guard       ᣁᣁ These members of the Company are entrusted with keeping all of the house members safe and protected. Their normal job involves them simply being present in the house to act as a deterrent to anyone who might wish ill, and to step in and handle unsavory or dangerous situations when needed. Guards are also called to service whenever a Courtesan is requested to be present away from Company property. During these events, a Guard is assigned to accompany the staff to their destination, and remain present until the staff member returns to the house. They are not to involve themselves in the affairs of a staff member unless it is deemed necessary for their safety. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      House Help       ᣁᣁ Additional staff members that tend to the Company and its staff directly. These staff have specific jobs relating to their title, and often only a few are needed. Jobs that fall into this category include: Teacher, Chef, and Cleaner, however the House Head keeps his ears open for other areas that could use an extra hand. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      Courtesan-In-Training       ᣁᣁ For those still in training to the official Courtesan title, the Courtesan-in-Training is a member of staff that is still learning how to fulfil their job roles. During their training they are not allowed to take on official Clients, and must undergo a test of their knowledge and skills before they can be promoted to a fully-fledged Courtesan of the Company. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      Company Client       ᣁᣁ Clients are the lifeblood of the Company. Each Client is required to pay a monthly fee to gain access to the Company grounds and interact with the staff and utilize house amenities. An additional flat fee is paid per-service from a Courtesan, and gains their time for a set number of hours depending on the requested service. So long as a Client is up-to-date with their monthly subscription payment, they are allowed to access the grounds at any time, and may stay in the house and enter any door that is not locked. (Additional note: No actual gil needs to be paid for this, it is an entirely IC transaction) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⁅ ‹ ᨎ › ⁆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ᣀᣀ      OOC Positions       ᣁᣁ On top of our many IC positions and possibilities for players, there are also OOC ways to help and contribute to the Company for those who feel so inclined. While our Courtesans and staff are expected to attend the events of other Companies and groups, we would love to have someone with the time, energy, and creativity to put together events for The Keeper’s Rest. There is no OOC application to fill out or website to go to (this is a game, not a job after all). Send a tell to Ink Heart in-game and ask about joining the group. Make sure to specify whether you’ll be joining the FC and the LS, or just the LS. Also be sure to tell us what roll your character would fit into, and be sure to discuss any questions you have about the Company. Before an invitation can be sent for the FC or LS, there must be an IC meeting that takes place. ⋙⋙   Will My Character Fit-In?                                              That’s up to your character! Remember to take into consideration that this group caters to a high-society setting, and while we have plenty of RP opportunities (even for characters who are not high-society), it’s best not to put your character into situations that they wouldn’t do well in. Also remember to see the rules page for a list of character types that we simply don’t accept (examples being voidkin, dragonkin, etc.). If you’re not sure, you’re more than welcome to ask! ⋙⋙   Check Your Drama                                                          I would like to keep this group as free of drama and craziness as possible! Ain't nobody got time for drama in their happy fun pretendy times. Disagreements and occasional arguments are to be expected from any group. However, repeated hostility, passive aggression, and anything that generally and consistently disrupts the harmony of the group will lead to warnings and finally, dismissal from the group. ⋙⋙   Lore-Friendly                                   Please try to keep your character as close to lore-accurate as you can. While we fully understand that FFXIV’s lore is far from fully fleshed out, there are still a lot of resources to go to for questions about lore. We do accept head-canons for areas wherein the lore is very sparse (for instance how we handle Thavnair), but please be prepared to alter your character’s story to fit the game’s lore when it does come about. ⋙⋙   Can I Still Raid/Do Content?                                   Absolutely! In fact, we 100% encourage you to do whatever makes you enjoy the game. This may be a heavy RP group, but we do not expect nor ask you to be IC at all times. We also have periods of low-RP in the case of new expansions (about one and a half months) and new major patches (about one week) where nobody will be asked or expected to RP unless they really want to.
