His build is long, lean, and lanky, his face a study in sharp angles and bordering on gaunt. Though he is hardly old, his shoulder length straight hair has already turned pure white, while his eyes are a brilliant shade of light green. His body is covered in scars, though most only see the one that mars one side of his face. It is clear from a glance that he takes pride in his appearance, to the point where some would call him vain. His hair is always neatly tied back, his clothes striking a balance between the latest fashions and function. He can usually be seen wearing at least one or two pieces of jewelry, whether it’s a silver and garnet necklace or a pair of simple silver earrings. Scars & Markings: Idristan possesses numerous scars, from the one that mars his left cheek to the prominent claw marks across his stomach where something apparently attempted to eviscerate him. There are other claw marks marking his chest (though none seem to be as deep) as well as evidence of a stab wound to his right shoulder. In addition, there are signs of a gunshot wound on his right thigh, burns running down one of his legs, and numerous scratches across his calloused hands. There is also an odd bit of arcanima tattooed--or perhaps branded--onto his chest, just above his heart. It is very clearly a custom spell, yet it is not related to protection or shielding as one would assume. Voice: Low and smooth, and typically with a hint of either dryness, sarcasm, or outright disdain in his tone. Clothing: If one were to sum it up in one word: fancy. He always strives to look neat and well put-together, his clothes not too outright extravagant but clearly well-made. He favors darker colors, from dark greens to pure black, with hints of gold and silver and the occasional gemstone. He does seem to have some degree of wealth and is not afraid to at least hint at it. Personality At first glance, Idristan seems to embody every negative stereotype about Ishgardians, with an extra dash of cynicism thrown in for flavor. He is aloof and cold, with a sarcastic streak and a tendency towards dry, bitter humor that can occasionally edge into outright cruelty. Though he can be pleasant when the situation absolutely warrants, there’s often a sense that he’s holding something back that makes it hard to tell whether he’s actually being sincere or merely putting on an act. He is adept at dancing with words, saying everything and nothing at the same time. When one gets a chance to see behind the facade, however, one can find a man who is extremely empathetic, even kind. Though he tries to avoid talking about his past, it is clear that he is very familiar with suffering and often can’t bear to walk away from someone in pain. In the past he has been accused of being too self-sacrificial, a charge that is not without merit even if he has been trying lately to break that tendency. He is extremely stubborn and loyal to those he cares about and, though he would never, ever admit it, a bit of a hopeless romantic. Likes Gardening: Idristan has a green thumb and finds tending to plants relaxing. Wit: Give him someone who can match his humor any day. Fine Clothes: Looks are important. Especially when one actually has the gil to spend on them. Dancing: Though not necessarily the best dancer himself, there are few things he enjoys more than finding someone else who can waltz. Dislikes Crowds: They are overwhelming and hard for him to deal with, especially for long periods. Cultists: As far as he is concerned, they are stupidity incarnate. Gratitude: It is horribly awkward and, in his opinion, unnecessary. Airships: He has had some truly bad experiences with them lately. Fears Inquisitors: Though they might not have the power they once did, old habits are hard to break. Having lived in fear of having one of them find him for years, Idristan can't ever be comfortable around them. Losing Those He Cares About: His sister has already been threatened once because of his actions, and most of his friends live lives just as dangerous as his own. As he grows older, he can feel the specter of mortality hanging over them all all the more sharply. Uathach: A voidsent that once tortured Idristan. The scars left by her haven't faded. Losing Control: He fears what he can do. He fears that he will hurt people and not be able to stop himself. He fears not being able to come back from it. Forgive me. I should have been there." Idristan and his mother were fairly close growing up-or at least as close as they could be, given the long hours she worked. Wanting to give her and his sister a better life played a large factor in Idristan's decision to enter the priesthood, and he is ashamed to have failed her in that regard. She died not long after the Calamity from pneumonia. Idristan did not get a chance to say goodbye. So would you please stop rubbing it in?" After years of not talking out of fear of putting her in danger, an encounter with a voidsent hunting him forced Idristan to finally break his silence. The two have a lot of catching up to do, as both are very different than when they last saw each other, and Elonne still bears a grudge towards her brother for his absence. Still, Idristan is at least attempting to repair things between them. After all, she is the only family he truly has left. Idristan has very few kind words for the man who technically is his father. Though he helped create him, it quickly became apparent that Leodaire wanted nothing to do with his son, a feeling that over the years has become mutual as far as Idristan is concerned. The two have not said anything to each other in years, and Idristan is happy enough to keep it that way. I just don't know how far to trust you yet." An organization composed of voidsent hunters, with the goal of researching and ultimately eradicating them. In other words, goals that Idristan can get entirely behind. He ran into them during one of their jobs in the Shroud, and has since been adopted into the fold as one of their medics. Formed from former members of Mythril Wings, the group special in taking unusual jobs and solving them discreetly. So far he enjoys having his old friends together, but is also very, very much aware of how much has changed. Due to peer pressure, Idristan joined the Ishgardian blitzball team and was made an alternate forward. Though the season is over for now, he is still friendly with his teammates, and is looking forward to next season. You changed my life so much. Some days I'm not sure for the better or worse." A mercenary company that Idristan got truly involved with when he ran into Solenne when she was in trouble. That single chance encounter set off a chain of events that changed his life forever, and he owes some of the best and worst memories of his life to them. The group has for the most part scattered to the four winds. It's future as a whole is unclear. A small mercenary company that Idristan has taken to working for. He likes the people well enough, especially their style of getting things done--though he would prefer it if they would stop dealing with things far above their weight class for awhile. A Reformist group that aims to improve the lives of those who live in the Brume, Idristan was one of the first members and part of the reason for it's creation in the first place. Nothing more, nothing less." A trading company in Kugane that dabbled in questionable goods that once employed Idristan as one of their healers. He never formed a significant emotional attachment to them, just seeing it all as another way to make gil. Let's hope it doesn't come to that." An Alliance task force that once dealt with aetherical threats, Idristan chose to join them after several repeat encounters, figuring that his skills as a voidhunter and healer might be of some use. He never had the chance to become close to most of them, as the group found itself in hot water over the actions it took to defend Eorzea and was forced to disband. A knight that Idristan ended up working with as part of a voidhunting mission. He only found out later that he's both a noble and the brother of someone that he absolutely despises. In spite of this, Idristan still finds himself liking the knight... even if he probably wouldn't outright tell him. A voidtouched man and member of the Quill and Eye, Idristan was wary around him at first, believing him to be an actual voidsent. For a noble." Idristan ran into this particular noble while the latter was delivering firewood to the Brume. A long conversation followed, one that evidently inspired the young man, for he returned not long later with plans to truly begin enacting change in Ishgard. This impressed Idristan greatly, enough to cause him to agree to help him. The two could easily be called friends. He was the one to extend the offer to join the organization to Idristan. The two have not gotten to talk much, but he's been impressed enough by what he's seen so far. A young Brumeling and heretic that the Silver Table Accords was asked to help. During that visit, Idristan had a disturbing encounter with his mother that has drawn the two of them into a far larger mystery. I see that now." A Garlean that Idristan found locked inside an Ark gaol cell. The two had a rather pleasant conversation, with Idristan promising to bring him some proper tea next time they met. Since then the two have become rather unlikely friends. Idristan and Michaux first started out hating each other, a situation that was not helped by Michaux once attempting to kill him. However, circumstances forced them to cooperate and eventually come to an understanding, and the two could even be called friends after Michaux helped to save Idristan's life. And yet... please, prove me right about you." Complicated barely begins to describe the relationship between Idristan and Mirette. In the past Mirette severely hurt him, yet he has decided to give her a second chance to redeem herself. He's not quite sure he will ever entirely forgive her--but he also knows that he needs her, and that a part of him truly does want her to succeed. Noise helped carry Idristan back after being knocked unconscious during a mission, and since then he has never let the Elezen forget it. It has since sparked a friendship based on the trading of mutual goads and jabs at each other. Yet neither seems to mind the pettiness. Another of the Golden Fox healers, and perhaps the only one that Idristan has gotten along with without issue so far. The two have two things in common so far: a shared heritage and a dislike of Lebeaux. The two may or may not be conspiring to put someone new in charge of the medics. But my feelings... those haven't." Idristan's fiancee. Having survived a great deal and saving each others' lives more than once, Idristan believed that their love was unbreakable. Her disappearance and subsequent reappearance did damage that belief, but they are slowly repairing their relationship to what it once was. A dark knight and member of the Mythril Wings who he has fought alongside numerous times. Though he can often be annoyed by him and his stubbornness, he does count him as a friend. But I don't know how far to trust you." A fellow healer and member of the Accords, Lionnet ultimately saved Luca's life after the teenager was poisoned by an ahriman. Since then, he has joined Idristan and Luca in their quest to solve the mystery of what was happening to his family. Idristan is not sure what to make of him yet; he respects his skills and the fact that he hasn't turned them in yet despite their somewhat illegal activities... but he's not sure how far that willingness extends. Idristan's impression of this particular Xaela did not start out favorable, and did not improve after she decided to amputate her friend's damaged arm in secret. Having met the info broker through Lebeaux, Idristan was already inclined to dislike him--a feeling that the Hingan was only too eager to validate for him. For now Idristan intends to use him to get whatever information he can--however, it is clearly not out of any good will towards the man, but rather because he is the lesser of two evils. It's clear now that the two of them won't ever see eye to eye on what is best for their home. And that's not even getting into the personal issues between them... Idristan's feelings towards his homeland and the people who reside there are complicated. But he will at least have a word or two with any other Ishgardians he runs into while traveling. Plus he's been spending far more time in Ishgard lately. ■ Freelance Healer - Idristan is a healer for hire. He will happily work for an organization, provided that they pay him well and aren't too morally objectionable. He is also willing to help individuals, in which case he may or may not ask for gil, depending on what's needed and what he thinks your character can afford. ■ Voidsent Troubles - Idristan is pretty open about what he does, and that something is making sure that voidsent die. If you're having trouble with them, he's willing to help. Alternatively, he does know a great deal about them. It's information that he's willing to share-provided that he thinks that your motives are good. ■ Red Magic - Idristan has recently come into possession of a soulstone from a red mage, and is trying to learn this strange new magic in the hopes that it might solve his own aether problems. He'd love to run into either someone more experienced or another student. ■ Blitzball - Idristan was... persuaded to try out for the Ishgardian team, and somehow made it as an alternate. Maybe your character is a sports fan? Negative/Hostile Hooks ■ Inquisitors and Former Inquisitors - Those who were involved in the Ishgardian Inquisition while it was in power, especially those who were there over a decade ago, might have heard his name. He was wanted for questioning and suspected of heresy, something that was all but confirmed in many minds when he disappeared. Though the organization isn't in power now, there are still ways to make an old fugative's life much harder... ■ Ossuary Thaumaturges - Though it is subtle, if one is trained and looking it soon becomes clear that there is something very wrong with the man's aether. Combined with the rumors about him, and it is easy to see why one might become suspicious. ■ Voidtouched - Idristan is voidtouched--specifically, he is more or less a nightkin.
