Not all tabs complete! Arata Matsuoka, known by some as Ara, was born on the 28th Sun of the 5th Umbral Moon. Arata grew up in the nation of Doma, living a peaceful enough life. However, like the other Domans, she was forced to flee to Eorzea when the Garlean Empire came and destroyed her home. A novice Arcanist and something of a scholar, Arata is best with healing magic, believing there to be 'enough people who are capable of causing hurt in this world'. While she is still learning the ways, she is competent, and it seems that she will be a strong Arcanist someday. Arata often haunts Limsa Lominsa's more scenic spots, as she enjoys looking at the ocean and hearing it while she reads. She is also sometimes seen around the Quicksand when she is feeling more talkative, though more often than not she will try and keep to herself to avoid bothering the other patrons. Otherwise, she might be out in Eorzea, doing field studies on various things. Arata doesn't mind the topic of politics, though she would prefer to read about them than debate about them. She finds the topic boring to talk about and often ends badly even if there is an effort to keep things civil. Currently not working for a Free Company, though wouldn't mind working for one dedicated to knowledge and/or magic. Arata's Inventory Arata always has a large bag at her hip so that she may carry what she needs. Last updated: January 20th, 2016 - Her grimoire, used to amplify her healing magics (and more hurtful ones, if it comes to that). - Two 'light' novels. These books are about 500 pages each, though Ara considers them 'light reading'. - An old, worn-out journal. Its pages detail her life back in Doma. - A new notebook. Its pages detail her studies, whatever they may be that day. - A pouch of cinnamon incense. - Pouches of loose-leaf tea of various flavors. She seems to enjoy the beverage. Height: 5 fulms 2 ilms Weight: 95 ponz Complexion:  Porcelain Blue Hair:  Bluish Teal with Periwinkle tips Eyes:  Light Gray with Cyan limbal rings Arata is a rather pretty Raen, blessed with very symmetrical features. She has a sharp, triangular jaw, covered in the beautiful white scales of any Raen. Her lips are thinner, as well as her nose, its bridge also hidden by her scales. Her icy gaze is angular, somewhat sultry in appearance. Her horns curve neatly around her head, coming toward her chin. Near her temples sit two small, black horns, poking out of her hair. She has bangs which sit on her brows, cut straight across. Along either side of her face rest two longer locks, the rest cut into a layered sort of bob which tapers off at the nape of her neck to meet more scales. Arata is a thin, petite Raen, not physically intimidating in the slightest. At 5 fulms and 2 ilms, however, she stands tall her her gender and race. On her thighs, twisting around her calves and onto her feet, lie more scales atop porcelain skin. Arata is incredibly pale, her skin with a faint grayish-blue tint to it. Her movements are always seeming calculated, as if every step she took was planned; as such, she keeps her head held high with an air of mystique and confidence around her. Her voice is deeper than most Auri females, and it doesn't help she tends to speak in a fairly monotone, disinterested voice. Her speech is always formal, no matter the situation, and she seems to always be thinking of what to say. Arata is incredibly inquisitive, though her tone would never give it away. She asks many questions, and expects just as many answers. If she can't find an answer, she'll simply find it later. Due to the fact that Arata's company is often books, she often smells like... well, books. However, she does burn cinnamon incense in her room (to keep that musty book-scent away!) so she can smell of cinnamon if you manage to get close enough to her. Arata is not the type to approach unless someone warrants a question. If she finds something worth asking about, she will. She doesn't express emotions very well, often speaking in a dull tone that sounds almost uninterested, though don't be fooled; she does want to talk to people, she just isn't the best at it most times. She will ask many, many questions, and will not be satisfied until they are all answered to the best of the person's ability. She often criticizes others on their actions, saying that 'perhaps you should not have done that in the first place' even if the event was necessary. In the case that Arata finds one intriguing enough to speak with again, she will make a point to talk to them again, if only to bombard them with more questions. She will begin to open herself up more, showing a better amount of emotion. She begins to grasp what the person considers to be a joke and will laugh or smile at what she deems the right times. She may be an odd friend, but she is loyal enough, despite her odd demeanor. Flaws ❅ Hard to read her emotions. Reserved with them. ❅ Doesn't trust others very easily. ❅ Lacks empathy. Fears ❅ Falling in love too quickly. ❅ Bad thunderstorms. ❅ Pain, be it emotional or physical. Talents ❅ While still learning the art, she is looking to be a skilled healer. ❅ Brews amazing cinnamon tea. May or may not share, depending on the person... ❅ Skilled at getting the information she wants, even if she doesn't exactly mean to. Quirks ❅ When she assumes incorrectly or says something funny on accident, she will quickly try to make it seem like she meant to say whatever was correct or funny. (It's obvious she didn't.) ❅ She doesn't drink because she is very much a lightweight, and she gets clingy, which she finds embarrassing. ❅ She likes working with clockwork and things like it. The challenge and precision needed to dismantle and put these things back together is fun to her.
