Personality

Tanner, as he goes by to most, is slow to open up, and even slower to trust, sometimes mistaken as arrogant or a bit full of himself, though he doesn't intend to come off as such. Often taken as rude and heartless, he's very stubborn and set in his ways, not overly concerned with upsetting others by his words or actions. He is confident in his abilities and is always willing to lend aid to those in need, whether his demeanor reflects that or not. He'd not leave someone in trouble to fend for themselves, more than willing to charge in to battle and lend a hand. A member of the Maelstrom since his 18th name day, Vyncent rose quickly to the rank of Sergeant, though his promotions came to a sudden halt as he began to have more difficulty taking orders he deemed reckless or careless from younger officers with less experience than he, eventually leading to an other than honorable discharge from the Maelstrom. He believes one can only learn so much from study on battlefield tactics, and the real knowledge is gained on the field, through experience, earned in sweat and blood, along with his respect.

Combat

Melee: Tanner is master in own his mind when it comes to wielding melee weapons. Axe, swords, the lance, all are weapons of war that he is more than comfortable wielding, the axe being his preferred tool of the trade. More often than not he can be seen leading the charge, swinging his war axe around wildly to strike fear into the hearts of his foes, before colliding with them on the battle field in a clash of steel and Highlander fury.

Ranged: Tanner knows how to make use of a bow, though he's had little experience with the ranged weapon in combat. He's undergone basic firearms training from his time with the Maelstrom, though he never took a liking to the weapons, preferring a much more intimate and close up encounter on the battle field.

Magic: Tanner's grasp on aether manipulation is mostly one of self preservation, skilled in channeling his inner Wrath and Abandon, enabling him to focus his aether to increase his health and stamina, heal minor wounds, or unleash devastating blows on his enemies.

Friends and loved ones ●♥ Keaira Twinning- Twinning, or Twiggy, as he likes to call her, was one of the first people he met when fate deemed his path cross with the 81st Foreign Levy. From day one he's found the woman to be an annoyance, and thorn in his side. Unlike most, she did not shy away from his brash and often rude personality, chiseling away at him, day in and day out, and ultimately ending up being accepted for the nuisance she can be to the Highlander. Tanner has mixed feelings towards the young woman, that of pity and intrigue. The former coming about from personal chats and her own views on herself. The latter, her view on the world, and how she finds beauty in things he would not ordinarily give a second thought to. Though he'll never come out and say it, she is truly his closest friend in the Free Company thus far, one he'd fight to keep. ● Rhesh'ir Zhwan-Captain of the 81st, and one Tanner still has not spoken much with, the Keeper saw the value in a person like Tanner, and agreed to bring him on board. So far he has given Tanner little reason to doubt his leadership, professional respect earned, though their interactions have not progressed beyond that. ● Onuma Ahntifi- The first member of the 81st Foreign Levy to cross his path, Lieutentant Onuma Ahntifi, Kitten, as he's dubbed her, and not for the reason many assume, her being a Miqo'te. Despite the warrior's persona she tries to display, he's well aware that inside the armor clad Lion, is a kitten yet to truly find herself in the world. Fate saw them do battle together, fighting side by side when they first met, Tanner witnessing the injuries Onuma had sustained. Taking a liking to her fighting spirit, he vowed then and there to help the woman however he was able, despite her initial assumptions that he was a heretic. ● Fyrilsunn Fiandoensyn-Tanner's first impressions of the warrior was nothing but another dumb Roe that carried an axe. He's shared a few chats over drinks with the man since joining the 81st however, and doesn't view him as entirely useless after all. The two have fought in battle together on two missions now, finding the man to be skilled in combat, and one he'd gladly charge into battle with any day. ● Chiane N'ardente-Tanner met this woman completely by chance, running into her in the Quicksand in Ul'dah while she was recruiting Mercenaries for a job she had. He's been a repeat customer of hers ever since. He admires the woman, always cool under pressure, calculating in her moves, and she's always payed well upon completion of said tasks. She also has quite the backside, for an Elezen, something Tanner always stops to appreciate. He has a certain sense of comfort in speaking with her, finding himself a little more at ease to open up and talk about things, be it current events, or times from his past. ●Khairen Tumet - That guy, with the face. The one who's name he can never remember. Onuma's pet, the best way he can recall the man. Tanner found the Au Ra to be quite annoying from day one, too friendly, too forth coming. He mostly still feels the same about the man, though he's noticed the repeated and continuing effort Khairen has made to become friends with the Highlander. While not claiming him as such at any point thus far, he has given the man the nickname of 'Karen', something usually reserved for people he tolerates. ● ●♥ ● ● ●
