P E R S O N A L I T Y

Momone is a former Sultansworn turned Free Paladin. However, despite the transition, one shouldn't be fooled; the way of the paladin is not just a job to this Dunesfolk, but an entire way of life. Thus, she has very strong notions of what it means to be a knight and holds herself to an extremely high standard of what that entails: courtesy, kindness, holding one's word as their bond, duty, and self-sacrifice. Momone was so committed to this ideology for a time that, after first ascending to the Sultansworn, she also adopted the archaic form of the common tongue for her speech to pay tribute to the storied knights and first Sultansworn of old. She eventually discontinued it, but her commitments to the other tenants of duty have not wavered in the slightest. If she feels she had erred or misstepped in line with these beliefs, she is absolutely hardest on herself: even if the general population would think the matter trivial.

Further to her duty, Momone puts great personal stock in the power of one's word and of Oaths. If she pledges her service to someone, or volunteers to assist someone else, her word will be her bond without question. Conversely, when she sought release from her service as a Sultansworn to become a Free Paladin in order to serve a greater good, she carried deep personal guilt over the decision to ask to be released from it. Despite eventually coming to peace with her decision, she still expects that she will have to answer to the Twelve at the end of her life for the reasons she broke her Oath.

Momone receives great personal satisfaction from listening and possibly helping with the troubles of others. At heart, she is very much a 'giver'. To her, a quiet smile from someone or a simple 'thank you' are often all the reward she feels necessary. To that end, though she is exceedingly charitable herself, she grows embarrassed when charity is given to her in kind, and privately views the kindnesses she receives from others as a sort of debt she should seek to repay. The same can be said for the individuals in whom she decides to confide her private concerns and troubles. She struggles to view such relationships as symbiotic; rather, once something has been given to her - be it advice, a physical gift, or simply friendship - she feels beholden to pay it back even more.

Much within the same logic is why despite nearly being 41 years old, she has never been able to be the first confess feelings of romantic affection towards certain men who have come into her life. In her eyes, to do so would be selfish and so, unsure of how to handle her emotions, she has quietly endured them all until, eventually, one of them acted first. That sole experience eventually ended in heartbreak for the lalafell, leaving her additionally wary about how to handle things if such a situation occurs again. Her outlet for any and all romantic notions are novels: of which she has a considerably large (and secret) collection.

L I K E S
Charitable Giving -- One of Momone's core tenants of life as a Free Paladin is service, by all means. Not only will she go out of her way to protect others by sword and shield, but she will freely give of her coin and time to those in need.
Cooking -- Momone is an extremely accomplished cook, having literally grown up in the kitchen of her mother who, before her passing, went on to become a sous chef in the kitchens of the world-famous Bismarck. For a time, Momone herself served as head chef of a hosting club known only as Rendezvous, though she speaks only of the establishment in passing. She is passionate about food and will speak to any aspiring cook or experienced chef about the craft with enthusiasm.
Reading -- Though not an academic, Momone is an avid reader; stories of the Sultansworn she devoured as a child led her to her life's path, in fact. Few things give her greater pleasure than curling up with a cup of tea and a book on her lap. Her preferred genres are narrative histories - especially of the Belah'dian, Sil'dih, and early Ul'dahn empires - and, surprisingly, romance novels. Her collection of the latter vastly outnumbers the former, though she goes to great lengths to keep her indulgent collection a secret.
Travelling -- After becoming a Free Paladin, Momone slowly embraced the notion of travelling becoming a regular part of her life. While she does enjoy the comforts of hearth and home, waking up in a new place every morning - for the moment - excites her. She especially likes visiting distant and insofar unfamiliar cities: including Ishgard and Kugane.

D I S L I K E S
Cruelty -- Momone will quickly react to defend victims of cruelty or malice -- or to admonish those administering it.
Sounds of Explosions/Fireworks -- Momone is a survivor of the Battle of Carteneau, and large, booming sounds of gunfire, explosives, etc. trigger very unpleasant memories of that terrible battle. Fireworks, for all their beauty and innocuousness, also have this effect, and she is not fond of them.
Rogues & Tricksters -- Momone is set on edge by these kinds of people, because she believes they are most likely to either lie or warp their words to not mean what they say. Though she has met several exceptions to the rule over the years, Momone will keep her guard up on first meeting people of this description.
Travelling by Aetheryte -- For mysterious reasons only known to a couple of people, Momone will avoid travelling by aetheryte if she can. In the past, she flat out refused to use them after a certain incident, but she's become more willing if necessary. However, the experience of doing it still makes her uncomfortable.
Q U I R K S & V I C E S
Me Second! -- Momone will put the needs of others before her own in almost all circumstances, and work herself to the bone to make sure that people in her care or under her protection are provided for before herself. She will willingly take on fatigue and stress first, and only ask for help when absolutely necessary. She has become better about reaching out for help in recent moons.
Quixotic -- To call Momone an idealist is an understatement: for her entire life she has lived and breathed the ideals of what a paladin should be, and adhered to them in practically all instances. Even when she's been met with distate or disdain for someone's actions, her drive to be a living paragon of paladinhood has often seen her turn the other cheek for others who may not have been deserving of mercy or, at worst, seen her fall into a conflict between ideals versus reality. What damage this constant conflict may be doing to her psyche, however, remains unknown...
Spiritual -- Momone is absolutely a woman of faith: more so now than she was in her youth. She does not show it or speak of it often to others, but she keeps a tradition of offering prayers to the Traders once a week in Ul'dah, and to the Fury should she ever find herself in Ishgard.
Fun-Loving -- Though focused in purpose and striving to always live by her ideals, Momone does enjoy honest-to-gods fun. She has been known to participate in costume contests and make no small effort for the sake of fun, and enjoys games: particularly Triple Triad.
Innocent Instincts -- If there is ever talk of innuendo, suggestiveness, or even vague 'hints' in the areas of love, sexuality, flirtation, courtship, etc. going on around her, Momone will often not have a clue about it unless it's made blatantly obvious to her. Furthermore, in the rare times one has made overtures directly 'to' her, the veteran paladin swiftly turns into a stammering, hapless mess who would rather mumble and escape than engage the conversation.
S K I L L S
Sword & Shield Combat -- As a Lalafellin woman, it's been questioned how Momone could rise in proficiency in such a martial and up-close style of combat in spite of her size. The answer she gives - readily - is relentless practice over twenty years. In this style of combat, Momone is an absolute veteran and can hold her own: even if fighting two or three average-skilled assailants at once.
Soul of the Paladin -- Momone first came to paladinhood by rising to become one of the Sultansworn: the elite guards charged with protecting the ruling sultanate house of Ul'dah. Before Free Paladins became more prolific, to join the Sultansworn involved rigorous martial and historic tests about the origins of the order, and proving one's worth to ascend to their ranks. Though Momone now walks as a Free Paladin, she retains the soul crystal she was given upon first joining the Sultansworn. The techniques she has learned from it are what enable her to withstand blows that would easily fell other swordfighters of her race. These are also what enable her to shield her allies from harm, and take the pain of blows intended for them unto herself in sacrifice.
Fencing -- Though still prone to make mistakes, Momone has studied the basics of fencing and fought in close-quarters combat at sea with naught but a rapier and a small buckler. She would not be completely hapless fighting with this weapon, but she would be at a distinct disadvantage compared to a traditional sword and shield.
Culinary Arts -- See 'Cooking' under Likes
Fishing -- Her father was an angler who sold fresh fish alongside her mother's culinary creations, so Momone knows the basics of fishing. If given a rod and a selection of bait, she could catch, clean, and cook fish while out on the road for an adventurer's campfire meal.

A P P E A R A N C E
Body: Very tall for a Lalafellin woman, she actually stands taller than most Lalafellin men: though this is rarely noticeable to the other taller races.
Skin: Slightly sun-kissed, but not easily burned or flushed.
Hair: Blonde and thick: cut short into a feminine, but functional cut that doesn't hinder her in battle.
Eyes: Deep red.
Scars None visible on her face, but there are an assortment of scars, puncture wounds, and mottled burns from decades of combat under her armour.

Clothes: Momone appreciates fashion and styles of her native Thanalan, but otherwise mixes functional clothes with only small fanciful elements. She rarely wears skirts, but is fond of feminine colours: pinks, purples, and dark reds. She also often likes colours that call back to her Sultansworn heritage: especially Royal Blue. She is also fascinated by beautiful shoes, though does not own or indulge in wearing many different varieties herself.
Jewellery: Not often worn in battle, but she favours two sets of earrings: a simple pair of silver triangles, and also a singular drop earring on her right fashioned to look like a bluebird.

" I presume you're asking me because of her food? She's a master, it's certain; I learned not too terribly long ago that she gets it from her mother. At least two new specials every month! . . . Right, that. I--well, you should probably ask her, frankly. Let me just say that almost nobody understands what a vow is, anymore. She does. They think it's something emotional, or some titanic matter of will--something romantic and sentimental. It's completely wrong; even though it involves those parts of you. Of course it does, it involves all of you. She knows." - Ghalleon Helseth

Kosetsu Kensei | A stoic Raen knight of very few words and a relentless sense of duty, Momone and Kosetsu are old friends stretching back to the days of Rendezvous when they shared a secret destiny between them. They both have very similar views on the nature of justice and duty, which formed the basis of their friendship over the years. Momone sees Kosetsu as a fellow sister-in-arms, but also as one of the few people in whom she can confide her worries and troubles when in need of honest, unbiased advice. She loves the woman as if she were family.
Claisent Vaucotier | An Ishgardian Elezen knight with a checkered past, the two first met with Momone's initial funding of the Winter's Wake house and charter activities. As a disciple of Kosetsu's, he, she, and Momone ended up spending a great deal of time travelling together as adventurers and knights errant before coming across the Keys. Claisent's background in baking in his parents' shop in Ishgard have made him a staple in the running of the Royal Order Cafe alongside Momone, and the pair work well together as both knights and chefs. After an unexpected confession from Claisent, however, the two of them have been very gradually exploring the feelings between them as they take their first steps into a slow-burning romance.

Mino Barrett | A Miqo'te culinarian of no small skill of her own, the two have traded recipes and their fondness for their respective hobbies over several conversations.
Razaphale Lito | The proprietress of the Iron Lynx Bar & Cafe who kindly assisted Momone after a duel that went (slightly) awry at an officially sanctioned Tavern Brawl night.

Briardien Miraudont | The friendly doorman of the Iron Lynx who always seems to be first to greet Momone on arrival.

Mother: Pepena Pena | Died from complications of pufferfish toxin.
Father: Mimidai Gegedai | Died from complications of pufferfish toxin.

Feel Free To:
Send me a tell before engaging IC if possible, please! I'm often IC, but standing around in the latest leveling gear likely means I'm not...
Ask if I'm interested in plots and stories; I love them! I also am very happy to serve as an NPC for an event in a pinch, as I love the challenge of writing/making up a character on the spot.
Feel free to book me in or schedule RP with me for certain dates/times. I have a very busy schedule in RL, so making appointments is usually what I prefer.
Ask First Regarding:
Heavier mature RP themes including torture, kidnapping, abuse, etc. If there's no discussion or consent before hand, I will end the scene and blacklist you.
Historical connections/friendship with my characters; I'm very open to them! Please just send me a /tell to talk about what you have in mind.
I Will Not:
ERP only for the sake of ERP.
Play with Fantasia/race change plots - Fantasia is an OOC item.
Use flagrantly lore-breaking plots/character concepts.
Play with high powered characters/themes: including characters with strengths/abilities only accessible to the Warrior of Light in the MSQ. This includes, but isn't limited to, White Mages, Black Mages, Summoners, the Azure Dragoon, or manifestations of the Echo.
