About

Flynn is an adventurer who's family hails from Ala Mhigo before the Empire's invasion. He spends most of his time with his wife, Mackenzie Hawk, or working for the Adventurers' Guilds across Eorzea. He enjoys solitude but isn't classed as anti-social, and he is usually not the first to engage a conversation. In his younger days he was always seen with his two best friends, Lorric Wright and M'risha Eliozh. He is a healthy individual, drinks ale on special occasions and doesn't smoke the pipe. He is also laid-back and sometimes blunt when he is trying to be kind. Overall, Flynn loves to be around different scenery every day and is willing to take any job as long as it comes with a description.

As well as being a trained as a gladiator by his stepfather and as a Free Paladin by a Sultansworn captain, Flynn also fights with two-handed weapons such as an axe or a claymore. Where he lacks in the social department, he makes up for it with his strength and fighting skills.

History

Before the Calamity (Patch 1.xx series)

Flynn was only a few months old when the Empire invaded Ala Mhigo, his place of birth. He was among the many refugees that fled to Ul'dah along with his mother. His father did not follow them and stayed behind, and was not heard from for some time. Growing up in Ul'dah was not easy for Flynn as there was little money for them to earn. By the time he turned eight years old, his mother fell ill to a sickness spread within the streets. Over time it consumed her, causing her death.

Flynn was alone until he met two other children, Lorric Wright and M'risha Eliozh, who caught Flynn stealing food from the markets. The three became inseparable and created their own adventures. Flynn was later adopted by a retired lalafell Gladiator named Pepepoki and trained him to use a blade and shield.

At the age of 18, two years after the calamity, Flynn sought to work as a mercenary and first joined up with the Brass Blades. He left as soon as he saw their corruption, then spent the next few years working for the Adventurers' Guild.

A Realm Reborn (Patch 2.xx series)

Five years after the calamity, Flynn met up with Lorric and M'risha to go on their own real adventure. After a few months M'risha disappeared and Lorric went out to search for her. Flynn was alone again until he joined the Travellers Guild where he met Mackenzie Hawk who later became his wife. He also discovered his real father was still alive and had been locked up in Ul'dah's dungeon for many years. His father had been accused of conspiring with the Empire, having been caught in possession of an Imperial uniform. He reassured Flynn that he wasn't a traitor and was part of the Ala Mhigan resistance. Unable to release him, Flynn visited his father once every few months.

After the Travellers Guild disbanded, Flynn and Mack joined other Free Companies until they could find a home and family to settle in with. They eventually joined Crystalline, a company that places an emphasis on doing good work for others. Flynn and Mack became Eternally Bonded and remained adventurers. Pepepoki sadly passed away due to natural causes. Before he died he left a sword made for Flynn to use in his journeys.

Heavensward (Patch 3.xx series)

To his surprise, Flynn learned he had been gifted with the Echo and had been unaware of it for the past years. He recalled a dream of meteors falling from a burning sky that he assumed was the time of the Calamity. It was this dream that provoked him to start an adventure with his close friends. His journey may not have been fulfilled in the way he desired but it has not stopped him so far from seeking to begin anew.
