Character

General

Fyrilsunn Fiandoensyn is quiet giant of a man, born and raised in Limsa Lominsa and most comfortable with ships and axes. A shipwright by trade and an adventurer by choice, he can often be seen drinking or smashing things with his axe. Occasionally he can be observed doing both at the same time!

Appearance

Fyrilsunn is a Sea Wolf Roegadyn of considerable size, standing at over seven and a half fulms tall with a broad, muscular build and stone-white skin. His salt and pepper hair is wavy and of medium length, and he sports a short beard. Typically he wears three diagonal stripes of blue-black face paint that roughly matches the color of his piercing, dark eyes. A long, thin scar runs across his left eye.
In battle, he tends to wear uncolored heavy armor, wielding his signature weapon, the axe Skoenstyrm. He has also been known to wear his old Maelstrom uniform into battle for visibility. Outside of battle, he favors comfortable, red clothes, eschewing overly formal wear.

Behaviour

Fyrilsunn is a man of few words, and those few words are often blunt, to the point of being too honest. He doesn't skirt around issues. However, he usually won't be the one to initially confront someone about an issue unless he must. While he isn't a very open person emotionally, and is private about his personal life, he loves to talk and share stories over drinks. He's intensely loyal to his companions; the smaller they are, the more protective he tends to be. When it comes to conflict resolution, he won't hesitate to raise his voice or even get physical if the situation escalates. However, despite his lack of tact, he's actually somewhat perceptive and sensitive to the emotions of others.

History/Timeline

Childhood
Fyrilsunn was born in Limsa Lominsa in 1543 to Fiandoen Loetrammsyn, a shipwright, and Fraeswys Hezzerfyrwyn. He spent his childhood and teenage years apprenticed to his father, developing a proficiency in carpentry and a fondness for axe-swinging. In his early childhood, he would also spend time with his grandfather Loetramm in his forge. His family was not particularly well off, almost exclusively fishing and hunting for sustenance.
Young Adulthood & Military Years
In 1562, when the Garlean Empire began its invasion of Eorzea, Fyrilsunn joined the Maelstrom at the age of 19, where he served its navy as a privateer on the ship Nebbronth, starting out as a ship repairman and maintenance worker.
In 1564, his father was slain in a Sahagin skirmish. This event deeply affected him, and marked the beginning of his perpetual drinking habit.
After Dalamud's Fall
The Nebbronth was one of several ships in its fleet destroyed during the Calamity in 1572, and Fyrilsunn was among the mere handful of the crew who survived. The event sent him spiraling into depression and worsened his drinking problem. In spite of this, he had to find something to do with his time, and subsequently turned his gaze inland and applied his combat training to adventuring and mercenary work, taking his leave from the Maelstrom. He spent most of his days picking up leves, and most of his nights drinking away what little coin he had earned.
Things continued that way until the fateful day Shoshopu Shopu came to Limsa Lominsa in 1576. Though their meeting was quite unusual, her perpetual cheerfulness, nonstop stream of questions and tendency to follow him everywhere proved a valuable distraction, allowing him to pull himself out of the rut he had been digging for the past four years. The two became quite the adventurer duo. At Fyrilsunn's encouragement- although Shoshopu didn't need much convincing- the two became involved (once again, for Fyrilsunn) with the Maelstrom by joining the Maelstrom Foreign Levy 81st Company, where their adventures would continue...

Friends & Acquaintances

Leo Arkwright : A good sort, Fyrilsunn quickly took a liking to him. His self depreciating jokes grow tiresome at times, but anyone who would dive in the way of a primal's attack to protect a friend is someone he doesn't mind having at his back.
Shoshopu Shopu : This one's a tiny little bundle of energy. He has to constantly go out of his way to keep her out of trouble, and most of the time it doesn't work. But there's little Fyrilsunn wouldn't do for her, once she brings out those damned puppydog eyes.
Vesna Novaar : Fyrilsunn finds Vesna extremely odd. This amnesiac Miqo'te's tendency to classify anyone and everyone by how big of a threat they pose to Onuma, and her exquisite combat reflexes, keep him on edge at times, but she has proven to be nothing but a friend. It also helps that she's one of a handful of people who can keep up with him when it comes to drinking. In fact it seems more like he's the one doing the keeping up, as often as not.
Ralamano Nulumano : A bit of a know it all, but he tends to not flaunt it, which is good. Helped a lot when Shoshopu was sick, so he's more than alright in Fyril's book.
Rhesh'ir Zhwan : The boss man. Fyrilsunn hasn't interacted much with him, but he seems to have a pretty good handle on running things in the Eighty First.
Y'lyfriel Sikah  : The boss lady/bossman's mate. Seems nice, if stern at times.
Lynn'wo Vahnal : *Sarcastic voice* "Illusions."
Z'koa Rhiki : Seems like a very kind girl. It also helps that her cooking puts the Bismark to shame.
Emilienoix Bellegarde : Fyrilsunn greatly dislikes this elezen. He's fine with the fact that he's a thief by trade. He's fine with the fact that he's rude and condescending at times. He's fine with the fact that he apparently has no remorse for his past actions. What he dislikes is that the man cares not a whit for anyone but himself. He hasn't seen Emil conduct an act of kindness, unless it in some way furthered his own fame or fortune. As a result, Fyrilsunn doesn't trust him any further than he can throw him (Perhaps a bad analogy.), fearing he will turn on the lot of them if the moment seems right.
S'aerdha Tia : He's a total prick, but he helped Shoshopu when she was sick, so Fyrilsunn has mixed feelings.
Ainle Goldpaw : Quiet kid, but a good one.
E'liah Tia : Not-so-quiet kid. His open friendliness gets his ass in trouble as oft as not. Needs to learn when to shut up.
Senelle Silverlight : Another one of those who helped during Shoshopu's illness. He's never seen her in an unpleasant mood.
Cayenne Pardus : Fyrilsunn first met this fiery young woman at the Quicksand, Ul'dah. They bantered for a little while, and went their separate ways. As fate would have it they kept bumping into each other, and she quickly grew on him. She's rough around the edges and acts like she has a lot to prove. But despite this, he greatly enjoys her company and goes out of his way to spend as much time with her as he can. It's been a long time since he'd felt this way about anyone, and he's still sorting out his feelings, but one thing's for absolute certain: he'd do just about anything for her.
Ghenta Hellbrand : Fyril isn't certain what to think of this lass. She's rude, crude, and by all accounts has a mean streak a malm wide. But she's proven to be helpful, so long as you ask the right way. Usually involving booze.
