"We were once known as someone special..."

Chip harrow.png

There was once a boy...now a monster.

A being forged of wind-aspected crystal, tainted by the chunk of Dalamud that decimated the Burning Wall. This poison has resided always within himself since the boy was very young, and was kept tightly sealed within his subconscious. But a certain series of unfortunate events has caused Harrow to become unleashed--permanently. Albeit he's known for a short and destructive tempo and rarely will interact without violence, he has toned down after a few other recent events and has since become more of a mellow beast.

His strength comes from his emotions. The more upset, agonized, or tortured the boy is, the more powerful he becomes.

Harrow power.png

APPEARANCE:
A light steel galerus plates his shoulder and upper arm with gleaming armor, strapped to his upper torso with leather straps. Remnants of fabric shreds also hang from his arms and waist, of a past discarded. Mole brown pants cling to thin legs, shredded and held together by straps of white bandages. His ankles, though once plated with steel coverings, are bare and encased only with shackles. The same metal is also wrapped around his wrists. Though the armor is minimal, there is little to hamper his movements and he makes up for the lack of defense with uncanny speed.

His skin has retained its pale color despite living in the desert, for most of his time was spend in the darkness of a cave. No longer almost free of blemishes, his entire body is nearly covered with varying degrees of scars. His dark-purple mane, now long enough to cover his neck, is tangled and matted with dried blood. Eyes once aglow with the silver face of the moon are now soulless orbs of starless nocturne. Having been malnourished for quite some time, he is very thin and his bones jut out painfully against scarred flesh.

NOTABLE FEATURES:

  • Claws: sharpened black nails will grow out of his fingertips, about three inches in length. Thin and deadly, they are able to pierce through the tiniest weak points in armor. Often performing a fighting style that involves spinning and darting around, the slashing movements of his claws make no sound.
  • Blackened Eyes: when possessed, his pupils will completely dilate and his sclera will turn black. Basically, this results in the entirety of his eyes to be soulless pits of obsidian. Although its unclear to tell whom Harrow is exactly looking at, there are often subtle hints in his body posture and head tilts. Oftentimes, however, one is not even given enough time to decipher something so meaningless before their throat is slit in a fountain of blood.
  • Fangs: unlike the Keepers of the Moon, Seekers of the Sun do not possess teeth with quite so defined sharpness. However, his teeth have become permanent Keeper-like fangs that will extend whenever he's completely enraged.
  • Scars: His pale skin is almost completely covered with them. While a good portion of them are the thin and ropy lines of knife wounds, he also bares remnants of burns, stab wounds, and whip lashings. There are thick scars across his heels where his Achilles Tendon was severed multiple times. Ragged claw marks streak his back, administered by himself in order to hide a hurtful message carved there by a dagger.
  • Carnivorous: as ruthless a killer as Harrow is, he will also take the time to sample what bits of flesh may have been so delicately preserved upon his claws. He delights in the taste of his enemies, often feasting upon the spoils if he finds a chance to in the midst of his careless bloodthirsty spree. Other times, gnawing off the limbs of his victims is part of the fight itself.
  • Tainted Aether: in the past, the subtle impurity of his aether could only be sensed if someone were to try and absorb his aether. However, since Harrow has been unleashed for such a long period of time, the boy's aether has become almost completely impure. It can be sensed by anyone who is able to detect someone's aetheric properties.

ABILITIES:

  • Speed: by nature of how the wind blows, the more disrupted his mental state is, the greater the speed in which he possesses. At a normal level, his movements are fast enough to be unable to track, but a blurred form of his figure is still visible. However, when he's beyond saving and overcome with unquenchable fury, Harrow becomes nearly the wind itself, with serrated edges that fatally slice any living soul in its wake.
  • Teleportation: at a high enough level of power, Harrow can move so fast that he literally can disappear and reappear in a totally different location nearby. Although he cannot teleport to completely different areas, the ability extends to about a mile away from his current spot.

F A V O R I T E S

Flesh: Hungry beast is hungry. He has no preference for what kind of flesh he devours, but does like it freshly dead.
Aldgoat Stew: It's kind of a long story...

Q U I R K S

Addicted to pain Will sometimes slice himself with his own claws and lap up his own blood. He's become addicted to his own affliction.
Insomniac He hates sleeping because he'll almost always have nightmares. So he simply does not sleep.
Animal Affinity Unbeknownst to him, he has an uncanny ability to sense the feelings and thoughts of creatures that he has grown very close to.
Volatile Terribly unpredictable, his temper can easily snap at the slightest provocation.
Singing While alone in his cage, he will sometimes sing to himself to pass away the boredom. It's usually high-pitched and echoes eerily against the walls.
Humming When he's not singing, he's probably humming. Late at night, he'll sometimes hum the tune of a certain music box to himself. Music Box Song

L I K E S

Darkness Used to living in a cave with no light, he finds a strange comfort in the chill of the shadows.
Blood It's tasty and sometimes sweet. He likes licking it off his fangs and claws.
Moonlight There's something about it that even he finds soothing.

D I S L I K E S

Ice He's deathly afraid of it, especially when it's in the form of a spell. When encountered with it, he'll shriek and wail like a wounded animal and try to escape it.
Spoons Beware their unknown power!
Thunderstorms He'll huddle in the corner of his cage with flattened ears and hiss at the thunder and lightning.
Punishment Much was inflicted upon the beast during his imprisonment within the Tribe. Although he now expects a beating whenever he does something wrong, he loathes the often brutal consequences his father tormented him with.
Magic Thanks to a certain elezen mage, he's also deathly afraid of spellcasting.
Boredom

FAMILY & TRIBE

These are mostly backstory-related relationships.

LIST OF FAMILY MEMBERS
O'anna Xhiji , mother. ( )
Thoughts: "We never knew you."
O'anna.JPG

She died shortly after giving birth to O'kihp, and although the other members of the Tribe raised him, he grew up without a "mother figure" in his life. Nothing was ever mentioned of O'anna, but it could be assumed that part of O'ctan's hatred for his son stems from the death of his mate.

O'ctan Nuhn, father. ( )
Thoughts: "We suffered under your fist for a year, only to be stolen back once more. But one day we will make sure our escape is permanent. Sleep with one eye open, father. Your time is fast approaching."
O'ctan.JPG

From the moment O'kihp was born, his father rarely paid him any attention. This changed, however, when the monster within the boy made itself known and he almost ended up wiping the entire Tribe out. O'ctan was disgusted by the animal he had sired, and was more than happy to pin the entire blame of the Tribe's failure upon his son. When O'kihp was banished, O'ctan became the Nuhn soon after and tried to return the Tribe back to its former glory. However, the threat of their extinction was eminent, and desperation drove O'ctan to one final act: the retrieval of his son. O'kihp was kidnapped during the night, taken back to Thanalan, and held in a cave within the Tribe's encampment. Unspeakable horrors were committed by father against son. His anger and frustration were taken out against O'kihp, earning O'ctan the reputation of an abusive and merciless father.

O'kaje Tia, Uncle. ( )
Thoughts: ”You hurt us in many ways when you kidnapped us. We know it was you that destroyed our camp. We hunger for your flesh.”

Although O'kaje is the older brother of O'ctan, it was his lack of experience that prevented him from being Nuhn. This doesn't bother him, however, as he enjoys the thrill of battle and gets this plenty as a Tia. He was among the small group sent out to retrieve O'kihp from his banishment in La Noscea and the one that was more than happy to set fire to the remnants of his camp. O'kaje has a healthy fear of the little demon, like most of the Tribe, but will not hesitate in tormenting him when given the chance.

O'behr Tia . ( )
Thoughts: ”You were there too, to take us from our home. We will kill you slowly...and willingly.”

Somewhat young, but quite battle-ready, he's one of the better Tias of the Tribe. He was also part of the group that stole O'kihp out of La Noscea.

O'xhiji Nunh, ex-Tribe Leader. ( )
Thoughts: ”We wish it had been us that killed you.”

When O'kihp had still been quite young and part of the Tribe, O'xhiji had been the one to publicly flog him before banishing him to La Noscea. The old Nuhn ultimately died in his prime, falling victim to a rampaging fire drake that had nearly overrun the Tribe's camp.

NON-FAMILY

Listed here are the non-family characters, both PC and NPC, that my character has interacted with.

Last Update... 2/10/2015.

NPCs
Frostfeather, Skycat's Wings. ( ? )
Thoughts: "We remember...flying sometimes. The taste of clouds. Rushing wind. You had...soft feathers. We try not to think about it much."

There was once a great cat-bird who enjoyed the taste of grilled fish and flew a boy and his best friend across the salt-swept meadows of La Noscea. She has not been seen in many months and is becoming somewhat of a fading memory.

Nym, Muh. ( ? )
Thoughts: "You fed us and treated us well, despite what we had done to your brother. We will not forget your kindness. You remind us of what we were once. Never stop smiling."

While recovering in the darkness of his makeshift cage and fighting a deep depression after the discovery of Raziel's true identity, an unlikely maiden approached the demon's lair. She came with only a humble serving of soup and bravely offered it to the beast. He was wary and quite skeptical at first, and she taught him to dislike spoons! A tentative bond was forged, however, after she provided him with enough soup and water for the beast to have a proper meal after countless weeks of undernourishment. Nym never once seemed completely afraid of him, despite the fact that he had severely wounded her twin brother. She remains but a mystery to him.

Mitzi, Chip's present?. ( ? )
Thoughts: "Quote goes here."

There was once an annoying little rodent that pestered the boy many a time. This was long ago, however, and O'kihp remembers very little of her anymore.

Madam . ( )
Thoughts: "You fattened us up and fed us to the wolves. Your betrayal stings deep and we will always despise you."

After failing to destroy the Tribe's intruders, O'kihp was captured by a traveling group of gypsies and restrained by a sleeping-spell cast by the Madam herself. He was wary of her at first, having sensed her use of magic, but she never posed as a threat and displayed great patience while tending to the beast's wounds. She taught him the motto of "food, not fingers" and never beat O'kihp, even when he had done something wrong. However, just when things between them began to settle down, the unthinkable happened. With much hesitation that was unnoticed by O'kihp, Madam sent him away into the hands of Rose in order to keep the peace within her gypsy family.

Rose, Siren. ( )
Thoughts: "Azrael served you willingly, but we never did. We may finally be free of your torturous ways, but next time we meet it will be your last."

Enchantress. Silver-tongued. Viper. Rose has but a nasty reputation, despite being related to the Madam. She fancies unique creatures and runs a sort of "collection" exhibit of some of her most prized pets. O'kihp was given to her in Raziel's place, and stripped of his identity. Under the name "Azrael", he served as one of Rose's favorites. She treated him cruelly, destroying what meager bits of humanity he had left and turning him into naught but a tamed animal. And then...Raziel came. Lured by the urging of a small child to " save her friend", he all but invaded Rose's camp in order to do just that. Things got a little messy, however, and although Raziel was able to safely escape from the madness, Azrael was presumed dead in the end.

Omen . ( )
Thoughts: "Your words are sharpened daggers and we will never forget that pain. Know that we will seek to end you should we ever cross paths again."

A gargoyle who has all but been a huge annoyance in O'kihp's life. Not only did he try to convince O'kihp to abandon his best friend, he also ended up within Rose's encampment and tasked as her servant. Azrael was not happy to see Omen around and about again, and really wished he'd had a chance to destroy him.

Tome . ( )
Thoughts: "We hate your ice magic and your silence. When we figure out how to be free of these restraints you will be the first to die."

An Elezen mage hired by O'ctan to help restrain O'kihp when they captured him. The Duskwood doesn't pose much of a significant threat--dark gray skin hangs from a bony figure and his face is always hidden by a deep shadowy cowl. What Tome lacks in threatening appearance, he makes up for with his cold and emotionless demeanor. He can say not a word, yet unnerve someone by simply standing in the shadows. Tome is very skilled in black magic, and is especially talented with the use of ice enchantments. When kidnapping the boy, Tome used frost-enchanted chains to keep him bound and restrained, even when the beast was unleashed. Further measures were taken and he set up a barrier within the cave as well. During the time when O'kihp had been suddenly released and presumed dead, Tome was appointed as the Nuhn's retainer. He is not considered part of the Tribe, but is indebted to the Nuhn because of his coin. When O'kihp was successfully captured once more, he healed him with great reluctance, and has since then served as the overseer of O'kihp and will ensure that he can never escape again.

PLAYER CHARACTERS
Raziel, Skycat. ( / )
Thoughts: "We see now that those are memories long since forgotten. We will always remember what Skycat once was, but will know you only as Raziel. Though separate our paths must be trodden, we will always treasure what was forged in the past. Goodbye, brother."

Memories...cruelly ripped apart. A fragile heart...shattered. From the moment O'kihp realized who Raziel really was, he was devastated. The fact that his friend no longer remembered him ruined him even more. Due to O'kihp nearly killing Nym's brother, however, Raziel's hatred for his forgotten brother spurned an equal hatred in O'kihp for their unwanted rivalry. Their confrontations proved bitter, and at one point violent enough that O'kihp was almost killed--had he not screamed out "Skycat" in the nick of time. Things turned agonizingly bittersweet, however, as the name forced Raziel to remember tiny pieces of his forgotten friend. But, hearing the name "Chip" caused O'kihp to instantly shut down and he was so overcome with guilt and shame that he tried to push Raziel away. Ultimately, O'kihp has decided it is best that he remains forgotten. Now presumed dead, it is even more so for the better.

Hedgemole.jpg

The Tribe of the Mole originated in La Noscea, where many of the beastkin, in which the Tribe was named after, resided. However, a subspecies of the mole migrated into Thanalan, after an unintentional stowaway was found upon a ship sailing to Ul'dah. This species, known as the Hedgemole, was adopted as the Tribe's beastkin. They are known to be aggressive and extremely territorial, which are the key traits of this particular Tribe.

Location:

The Tribe resides in the southern part of Drybone, alarmingly close to the encampment of the Amalj'aa. Skirmishes are a common occurrence between them and other wandering Tribes. Due to their viciousness, however, more often than not is the Tribe of the Mole fearfully left alone.

Before the Calamity: They originally lived closer to the area known as the Burning Wall, but after it was destroyed by a shard of Dalamud, they've migrated away and currently take up residence in Drybone.

Hierarchy:

Note: These names are intended for OOC only. Please ask for further details, or if your player character is unintentionally listed.

Nuhn:

  • O'ctan Nuhn (Tribe leader and first breeding male)

Nuhn's Retainer:

  • Tome (Elezen mage; hired for a considerable sum of money; oversees the darker activities of the Nuhn & provides reconnaissance if necessary)

Tias:

  • O'kaje Tia (older brother to O'ctan)
  • O'vihz Tia
  • O'lixo Tia
  • O'behr Tia
  • O'qido Tia
  • O'kihp Tia (Secret weapon of the Tribe; carries out most of their territorial disputes)

Breeding Females:

  • O'saia Raehi
  • O'minna Xhiji
  • O'phina Raehi
  • O'xezo Raehi

Characteristics:

Aggressive. Brutal. Territorial.

This particular Mole Tribe is bred for only one purpose: war. The Tias that make up most of its members are skilled warriors and are often involved in numerous skirmishes between neighboring Tribes--be it beast or man. Despite their relatively small size, they are quite savage.

Calamity Aftermath: After the infamous events of the Calamity, the Tribe found themselves questioning their brutal methods and grew fearful of their placement near the decimated Burning Wall. A unanimous decision was made to lessen the killings. Full-scale war will be allowed only if the safety of their Tribe is threatened. Smaller skirmishes are still accepted and widely popular among the Tribe and its neighboring beastkin.

Customs:
  • When the young reach seven years of age, they begin training as warriors for the Tribe.

  • Punishment involves a variety of actions, often determined by the weight of the crime. This includes, but is not limited to, fights to the death, periodic starvation, abandonment in the desert, public flogging, and permanent banishment.

  • Selective Breeding: The Nuhn handpicks the females he chooses to breed with. Therefore, only those that the Nuhn sires are able to freely choose their mate. Otherwise only the Nuhn is able to breed with the females.
Other Details:

Race: Miqo'te
Clan: Seekers of the Sun
