Character

General

Shido is more or less a freelancing Paladin currently living his life as a leader of The Tomial Order, an adventurer-based company. Before the company formed he was freelancing any jobs he could get his hands on, all the while traveling throughout Eorzea to find a certain person he met 9 years ago. He does not have great difficulty talking about his past, but usually leaves alot of it out, and doesn't tend to speak of the subject unless asked to by someone he trusts.

Appearance

Usually found smiling, and laughing, Shido is a Miqo'te with snow-white hair, adorned with golden tips. He is a bit on the taller spectrum of his race, usually beating even some Hyur Midlanders in height. His eyes are discolored, for no special reason only that he was born that way, his left eye golden-yellow, while his right ocean-blue. On his face he has tattoos on his cheek that his mother gave to him at a very young age, and near the corner of his right eye, he has a tattoo of a faded heart. His body may look a bit slim, but under all of his armor is a lean, muscular figure from years of training and traveling. Around his body stands quite a bit of slash and stab scars, mainly from the battle of Carteneau and his adventures. A very big scar, more profound then the others, rested on Shido's left side. Shido is usually seen with his red cuirass and boots on, symbolizing his favorite color and the city he comes from, he also wears a beret he got from his time in the Knights of the Barracudas.

Personality

Despite his care-free nature, Shido takes care in everything he does, and is very capable of handling himself in most situations. He is also extremely respectful to those who he has deemed worthy to earn his respect, and he tried not to judge until he figures out the true nature of a person. He tends to try to help others, either directly or indirectly, showing his loose compassion for everything. Tends to be drunk more often than not, though he has calmed down a great amount, his behavior changes a great deal to a hot-headed/happy type. Shido speaks with a thick accent from his years of living in Limsa Lominsa, and time serving in the 'Cudas. He feels that loyalty, humility, courage, and respect are the most important traits for a person.

Combat

General

Shido is somewhat of a master of fencing, though unorthodox in his style, he is extremely deadly with a one-handed sword. He learned how to fence from his father and his mates as a Barracuda, he had also picked up the use of the shield in his early teens. Though not official, he has learned the ways of the Sultansworn from his caretaker, an ex-paladin, further enhancing his abilities as a fighter. He is also very proficient at hand-to-hand combat and in his early days participated in underground fighting clubs held at Limsa, though still no match for Hitari head on. His style consists of using a single sword to fence and he throws in a mix of kicks and punches. He also uses whatever he has on him, and his environment to face his opponent, always having more than one trick up his sleeve. Shido has no skill in magic or manifestation of Aether whatsoever.

History

Early years in Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa

Shido was born in Ul'dah to a pair of Miqo'te, a far-eastern merchant and a Limsan native. His father, the merchant, is named Junpei Wahorah and his mother, Y'zula Rhikita met an Limsa Lominsa a few years back, and were living in Ul'dah at the time. They were not an overly-welathy family, but well-off some could argue, thus Shido was a bit spoiled growing up. Being the spoiled "rich" child he was constantly bullied and made no friends, unless you include the books he read. Witnessing this, his mother suggested that they move back to Limsa Lominsa, believing that Shido would fit in better with the children around there. One Shido turned the age of five, they set out and moved back to Limsa Lominsa, where they owned a nice house on the outskirts of the city. The bullying did lessen a bit, but it was still very profound, and would lead to Shido staying home and reading books from his father's collection. During this time his father would train Shido in the basics of fencing, building a solid foundation for his swordplay. This continued for three years, and reading stacks, upon stacks of books, he improved his education significantly for his age.

Shido's Loss

A few months after his 8th birthday, Shido's father took the family and a few crew members out for a trip to the Indigo Deep on his merchant ship, after months of pestering from Shido himself. They finally set sail for the Indigo Deep, expecting to come back in a a few days. Out on the Indigo, the family had a picnic with the crew, and Shido wandered off to the front of the ship, near the bow sprit. As he looked out onto the horizon with childish amazement, a small ship caught his eye, but he thought nothing of it. It came at incredible speed towards his father's ship and sudden realization hit him, he ran down to his parents and called out "Pirates!" The ship-hands jumped up to the railings, trying to ready the ship for sail, but it was too late. There were already hooks latched to the railings, with men climbing up with incredible speed. Shido stood there and watched as the crew fought off the pirates boarding, not noticing his mother running to him and picking him up. Y'zula rushed into the captain's quarters, Junpei follwoing closely behind. They shut the door behind them, listening to the butchering screams.

Shido's mother said to him in a frightened voice, "Remember no matter what happens, ye father and I will always love ye to death."

There was banging at the door as Junpei exclaimed, "That's right Shido, stay back!"

Y'zula grabbed Shido and held him close, retreating to the end of the room near the windows. A burly Hyur Midlander bust in through the door, and Junpei drew his sword. Shido always admired his father's skill in fencing, and Junpei fought valiantly, killing the intruder. It did prove to be a futile resistance, two Miqo'tes rushed in, followed by an Elezen, of whom which pinned Shido's father down. He heard his mother scream as he watched his father's throat severed right before his eyes, a red mist forming in the air, a memory he will never forget. The pirates looked to Shido and his mother, and walked slowly towards them. They grabbed his mother and dragged her away from a crying Shido.

*Important please skip the next paragraph if you are bothered or disturbed by excessive violence and/or rape etc...

The pirates pulled Y'zula away, and proceeded to rip off her clothes. The Elezen came to Shido and tied him up, "Watch this, boy." The two Miqo'te pirates then raped Y'zula, with the Elezen forcing Shido to watch all the while. After all was said and done more pirates came in and did the same in turn to Y'zula, Shido being forced to watch again and again. He was then beaten whenever the men felt like it, and lost consciousness a number of times, only to wake up to the horrible sight again.

In summary of the last chapter, incase you skipped it, Shido's mother is raped, and Shido forced to watch over and over again.

This continued for two days, until on the second day, shouts came from the outside, " 'Cudas! Take what ye can 'n let's go!" The men currently in the room with Shido, grabbed his mother and one of them stuck his sword into her abdomen. The Elezen came to Shido and impaled him in the side, leaving him for dead. Shido laid there on the floor for what felt like two eternities, trying to deal with the immense pain in his side. He was looking at his mother, trying to find a sign of movement, but it was an effort for naught, once he heard footsteps coming from the direction of the doors. He looked up and saw an old Hyur man check his mother's body, and shake his head before proceeding to Shido. The old man looked at Shido with worry then yelled, "We got a live one 'ere!"

The Knights of the Barracuda

The old man turned out to be an ex-paladin working as a mop-hand for the Knights of the Barracuda. Shido was picked up by the ship and after gathering things from his parents' house, he was officially "adopted" by the ship, after getting the necessary paper work from the Maelstrom. The old Hyur was Shido's primary caretaker, teaching him about the world and how to work, with the rest of the crew always willing to lend a hand. Reluctant to open up at first, he finally took comfort in these men and considered them to be his family after a year and a half. The ship's crew quickly took a liking to Shido, as he was the youngest on the ship, they taught him a variety of skills, one being the current fencing style he uses today. At the age of twelve Shido was an official member of the Barracuda levy, and about this point is when Shido started to excel at fencing, learning very advanced techniques, from a quarte to a prise de fer. He also started to fight in clubs in Limsa's underground, ironically fighting many pirate, for he did not hold a grudge against pirates as a whole, but rather the specific one's that raided his ship years ago. Missing his mother dearly, he went and got a tattoo of a pink heart near the corner of his right eye. He spents his days drinking, fighting, and working, saving every bit of money on the way, for he hated to gamble, despite loving to play cards.

First love

When Shido hit the age of 17, the mop-hand died of old age, and he volunteered for a job that was stationed at Gridania, this is when he finally experienced his first love. He met a young Miqo'te girl about his age, maybe a year younger, while loading and unloading supplies sent from Limsa. His mates constantly teased him and his puppy love, telling him to just talk to her. Shido had no experience with the other gender, and was painfully shy, when one day the Miqo girl came up to him and gave him a rose. She smiled at him and ran away, leaving a blushing Shido standing there by himself. These small acts continued for a year, which he did smalls acts as such in return such as; writing her letters and leaving it by her door, cooking an extra lunch and dropping it by the window of her room, and constantly waved everytime he saw her (which was quite embarassing for her.) On his last day at after two years of working in Gridania, they had not yet even learned eachother's names, when the young Miqo girl came up and gave Shido a parting kiss a minute before he set off. She whispered into his ear, "K'neko Grishta," and she ran off into the woods back to Gridania, as Shido called after her, "Shido Itsuka!"

Carteneau

Shido had hit the age of 20 and his levy was set off, bound for Mor Dhona a few days before Carteneau ensued. On the way, a strange mist rolled up upon the ship, once they were nearing the coast and the ship crashed into a jagged rock, wrecking the ships into splinters. All of the crew survived and washed up upon the shore, the crew took the whole day to gather what supplies they had left and made way to Old Revenant's Toll. Once they arrived, they were given new clothes and were charged with being reinforcements, should the battle need them. Once the battle started, Shido was charged with protecting a supply camp when a sudden call for reinforcements was heard. His unit was to be ready and sent to the frontline in fifteen minutes. Once he made it to the frontlines and thrown into the full of the fight, he had great difficultly, for his fencing-style was made more to fight an enemy one on one. Multiple opponents surrounded him, but with the help of the comrades around him, he prevailed, and was exhausted. Despite his exhaustion he fought as hard as his body would allow him, using every dirty trick he had up his sleeve, literally. He used the whiskey he kept in his boot and drenched multiple enemies, and a Gridanian mage set them ablaze. He looked back at the mage, and his eyes lit up instantly, "K'neko!" He exclaimed. The those words left his mouth, a Garlean Centurion knocked Shido unconscious. The battle raged on and Shido was dragged out by a certain Gridanian Mage, and he was sent back to Limsa before the battle was over. Once back in Limsa Lominsa, Shido slept in his coma for 3 months.

A New Adventure

Once Shido woke up from his coma, he was diagnosed with a mild case of amnesia, forgetting all of the events of Carteneau. He learned that he was there and that his whole crew had sacrificed themselves in the war. Distraught and disheartened from the loss of yet another family, he left the Barracudas shortly after being assigned to his new levy. Shido then decided to use the money he inherited and the money he saved up all these years to buy his way to Gridania, in hope of finding the girl that caught his eye so many years ago. In Gridania he found no sign of her, and asked around, learning that she had disappeared after the Calamity. He stayed there for about a month to help in the building of new projects, and finally a common swindler suggested that he invest his money into a company that would manufacture armor on a world-basis. Naive as Shido was, he accepted and the swindler ran off with Shido's money the day of. Now with not a penny to his name, he set out once more, now as an adventurer, after losing everything he had worked for. Through his travels he learned to be an expert chef, some even dubbing him as the "Whiskey Wizard of Cooking," which he then later adapted to the Beach Wizard. Due to his cooking, he enjoys good food and good alcohol, frowning upon simple meals and cheap liquor. Shido became quite fond of Costa del Sol, so whenever he was in La Noscea that was the one place he is seen most at, due to the fact that there were no shortage of cute vacationers he's spent nights of passion with, but it will never be enough to satisfy the enormous gap in his heart. This is where he met Sabathius Kath'lani, Shido was roaring drunk at the time, and came upon the giant crab that resides there, instantly picking a fight. Sabathius caught eye of this and rushed over to assist the drunk Miqo'te that was swinging around a sword recklessly. Sabathius was the one to actually defeat the crab and the two struck up a friendship almost instantly. Hitari came shortly after, looking for Shido, witnessing Shido trying to sell Sabathius an "excorsism," in which Sabathius refused. About a year later, after going there separate ways, the three formed The Tomial Order, as a company for adventurers. He is now looking for a more permanent home and family, which he hopes to find in the Order.

Friends

  • Hitari Senjougahara- One of Shido's closest friends, has a high respect for Hitari and her combat skill. Even believing that she may best him on the battlefield, given the circumstances. Thinks that she is a bit hot-headed, but this has proved to save his ass a countless number of times. She is a moderator for Shido if he gets too rowdy.
  • Sabathius Kath'Lani-Shido considers Sabathius as a brother to him, and Sab has earned an extreme amount of trust from Shido. He admires Sabathius' personality and tact, respecting his strong-willed character. Secretly he itches to fight Sabathius one day, testing their capabilities.
  • Ragnar Eisenberg- Looks to Ragnar as a big brother type fifigure, though recently acquainted, Shido almost idolizes Ragnar's friendly nature. Shido feels the two have a great relationship and a similar taste in humor. Though not what he would pick for himself, Shido likes Ragnar's fighting style, it shows a vast control in his plentiful strength.
  • Sukina Cassady- Also just recently acquainted, Shido believes Sukina to have neverending potential, and a will to not give up. Having sparred with her once, he finds her style very rigid and traditional , although it also has a strong foundation, reminding him a bit of when he was training in the basics of fencing. Shido, being an experienced fighter, feels a bit of shame when watching Sukina fight with such valor.
  • Aerack Dawnshadow- See's Aerack as an extremely good-hearted invidual with a mission, much like his own. Aerack is searching for his sister, and Shido hopes to help him in this quest. He recruited Aerack into the Order at The Drowning Wench, suspecting he was new to the city. Though never seeing Aerack in combat, Shido commends him for sparring with Ragnar, a great feat not easily done.
  • Aerius Destroven- Shido met this particular person a long time ago at the Quicksand. Shido was incredibly drunk each time, and often approached Aerius as the Beach Wizard. After talking to Aerius recently, Shido recruited him into the Order, in hopes that Aerius finds a place to belong to . By nature he sees Aerius as a very valuable, and peculiar, individual with a questionable set of skills, and motive unclear, despite this Shido feels that he can trust him.
  • Yonene Yone- A fresh recruit in most all terms, but a promising one. Shido personally loves to tease her, to see the kinds of reactions he can spark in her and those around him. He instanly suspected Hitari to be all over this Lalafell, and hw was correct. Shido also knows that Yonene cannot handle alcohol very well and is always amused to see her (try to) drink, sparking Shido to give her a glass whenever possible.
