He stands at 5 fulms and 7 ilms and weighs 150 ponzes. He has brown hair with sunbleached ends that falls past his shoulders when it is out, which it rarely is. It is usually tied up with a small metallic clip or two at the back into a tail. When his hair is tied back his face his framed by long bangs that frame his face and cover most of his forehead. His chin is decorated with a small brown goatee. His eyes are emerald and become brighter and intensify in the sun and darker and more verdant in darkness. Scars & Markings: On the right side of his neck, at the base near his trapezius muscle, are two small, circular scars. He also has two scars from bullet wounds one on his left shoulder and one on the left side of his abdomen. Voice: Vado’s voice is typically very deep and resonant, not quite a deep bass but easily projected and heard. As his mood lightens, his voice does too and his laughter is quite hearty punctuated with the sounds of deep breaths being sucked in. Vado spent time as an adolescent amongst Ishgardian nobles and has learned how to speak eloquently and with correct etiquette, when needed. He usually resorts to this in times of formality or in the presence of other nobles. When is more relaxed his speech becomes more informal and there is a higher chance of him cursing. Clothing: Vado is often seen wearing a pair of red goggles on his head with most outfits. Occasionally he will wear a blue pair. He mostly wears a tight black, turtleneck top. His belt is outfitted with several tools that he uses around the workshop and in the field. He wears somewhat loose black pants and a pair of metal boots. His gloves are usually black, leather and fingerless showing off an obsidian ring which he is rarely seen without. He also has outfits for more formal Court work and relaxes at the beach near their estate in swimming trunks or can be seen in a casual white tee, blue jeans and boots. He remains the unchallenged Nunh of the Y tribe in the Sagolii desert. The few memories that Vado has of his father are not fond. Y’zelehdi Daxhi (♥ ♥ ) - Biological Mother Vado’s biological mother. She is fierce and protective of her children and a capable warrior in her own right. However all of Vado’s memories of her portray her as a loving, gentle and kind woman. Y’mellisi, Y’nali and Y’sara Voro (♥ ♥ ) - The Three Sisters Vado’s three older sisters. Y’mellisi and Y’nali are twins and Y’sara is one year older than Vado. All three young women are all strong, capable fighters. Kevix Mercier (♥ ✖ ) - Adopted Father Kevix took Vado into his household when Vado was twelve years old. His wife had passed and his own son, Reve, had no interest in manufactoring and saw a protégé in Vado. Kevix taught Vado not only the ways of manufactoring but also business, spending time in Ishgard with the nobility there as they came to accept machines as a way of life. The two grew close together and one of Kevix’s final deeds was to name Vado as his successor and heir, much to the chagrin of Reve. Vado later learned that Kevix had connections to the Sons of Saint Coinach and they were responsible for much of the Allagan technology and research that Kevix possessed. Reve Mercier (♠ ✔ ) - Adopted Brother Reve has never liked Vado from the moment his father brought him home. Having been cut out of the deed to his father’s company simply because he lacked an interest in his father’s hobby, he now spends his time in Ishgard claiming a noble title and managing the day to day running of Mercier’s Manufactory. He will often refer to Vado by the names ‘Trash’ or ‘Filth.’ Asher (♥ ♥ ) - First Love Vado’s first love and introduction to the mercenary world. He helped Vado retrieve many of his Allagan artifacts. Asher and Vado broke up when Vado insisted on building a Magitek prosthetic for a man that Asher hated at the time. Vado still has romantic feelings for Asher and occasionally wonders what happened to him. He never did find out his last name. Atalan Cross (✖) - Miqo’te Prince Atalan was a Miqo’te Paladin who called himself a prince. The Keeper had gathered a bad of ‘knights’ who were really nothing more than sellswords in expensive armor. Atalan had no ties or claims to any real royalty, yet he pursued Vado and his heart relentlessly. When the obsession turned violent, Vado’s mercenary friends retaliated with one of them sacrificing their lives to kill Atalan and his followers in an explosion. Atalan is believed to be dead. Valdin Loire and Sterrhaerz ( V:✖ S:●) - Mercenary Explorers Valdin and Sterrhaerz worked for Asher in a small mercenary company that Vado joined briefly. They all travelled together across two Allagan artifact sites and helped Vado recover Allagan artifacts for him to use in his engeering. Valdin was an explosives specialist while Sterrhaerz provided the brawn for their operations. Valdin sacrificed himself to kill one of Vado’s pursuers, Atalan Cross while Vado and Sterrhaerz went separate ways after an encounter in Limsa Lominsa where Sterrhaerz tried to force himself on Vado. Dr. Eline Sialeeds (♦✔) - Thavnairian Geneticist Vado first met Dr. Eline Sialeeds during an expedition in Azys Lla. She was fleeing from the Garleans at the time and later explained that her husband was a geneticist that had chosen to defect from the Empire after falling in love with her. Her husband was murdered and Eline felt a responsibility to carry on his work, believing it could be used for good. She worked with Vado, his research and his equipment to start up the Genetic Research division of Mercier’s. Now an independently functioning facility she heads up the production of cells and organs that serve as the base for many of the prosthetics that Vado creates to help others recover from serious injuries. Player Characters Marcus Feral (♥ ✔) - The Captain Vado met Marcus through the mutual connection of a Miqo’te Vado was dating at the time. When Vado and the other Miqo’te ran into problems Marcus intervened to calm the situation down and it was during this time that Vado and Marcus shared their business objectives and parted ways agreeing to discuss working together further at a later time. That later time came and Vado was offered a permanent position under the employ of Marcus and his wife, Dovienya. Since that time Vado has been promoted within the Court. Marcus and Vado have had many opportunities to spend time together and a strong friendship has been built between the two. Dovienya Cuenn (♦ ✔) - The Mistress Vado’s first impression of Dovienya was coloured by another individual being lead to believe that Dovienya was somehow an inherently ‘bad’ person. Vado suspected her for a long time of being a vampire, which became something of a joke for him. After being employed by her and her husband, Marcus, he strove to earn her approval as a loyal and trustworthy companion. As he completed work for the Court he came to see her as someone that was loyal and would do anything for those under her care, a view he still holds today. Their relationship is one of professionalism. Talic Siegebreaker (♥✔) - Giant Teddy Bear Vado met Talic in the Quicksand. Talic was looking for work and after a few more meetings, Vado introduced Talic to the Court who offered him employment. Vado and Talic had a tumultuous relationship filled with passion and desire both in the bedroom and on the battlefield, however it was not sustainable with Vado choosing to focus more on his work. The two ended their relationship as friends however, Talic has not been heard from in quite some time. It is Vado's belief that he may be in Ishgard chasing down rumours of a sword that once belonged to Talic's father. Ahzra’li Lhomi (♥ ✔) - First True Friend Ahzra’li worked with Vado after the attack on the Court at Naga’s wedding. Vado completed more work for Ahzra’li and the two began to spend more time together outside of work, getting to know one another and sharing each other’s problems. Over time Vado began to develop feelings for Ahzra’li, despite Ahzra’li being in a relationship. Ones that he could never act on. Vado considers Ahzra'li to be his best friend and he has helped him out of difficult situations on more than one occasion while Ahzra'li continues to provide sound advice that helps Vado remain true to himself. Livia Crane (♦✔) - The Unknown Equation Vado first met Livia during a social gathering with the Court. He drunkenly decided to try to remove her helmet simply because he didn’t like the way it looked. Livia knocked him unconscious for his efforts. Since then, Livia has probably been responsible the death of Vado more than anybody else he knows. Vado used to view Livia as a potential ally but several of her actions lately have lefthim questioning her motives. Livia continues to refuse to open up about herself which has made getting to know her extremely difficult. He often thinks that she despises him. Anaguma Kenesa (♦ ✔) - The Shadow Vado has worked alongside Shadow on a few missions now but still knows every little about the man, despite being present for his wedding. He does know he is a trusted ally to the Court and he respects him as any of the other leaders. Tempest Fey ( ♦ ✔) - The Celestial Mage Tempest approached Vado to help him with a confidential task early on. Vado sought clarification regarding the task from her husband and failed to obtain it. Since then, Vado is not sure how to approach Tempest however he does find he biting wit and sarcasm extremely entertaining, even when it is aimed at him. Vado has seen Tempest broken more often than not lately, often lamenting her marriage and giving a sense that she is dreading the impending birth of her child. Vado has found it difficult to maintain a stable relationship of any sort with her. Yusui Asai (♥♦) - The Mysterious Heart Vado met Yusui when he arrived at one of his facilities foretelling impending destruction if they were going to continue with an experiment they had been performing. Yusui helped to resolve the issue at the facility however Vado sustained a serious wound during the battle. Yusui treated Vado and as the two talked it became apparent that Yusui did not have anywhere to go, so Vado offered him the opportunity to stay with him. The two continue to live together and Yusui has taken to teaching Vado how to manipulate and use aether, a skill which had eluded him for some time. Vado has feelings for Yusui and he knows the affection is returned, however, his heart remains conflicted and divided and has decided this is not a burden that Yusui should have to bear. Nylora Ebonclaw (♦ ✔) - The Helpful Vado first met Nylora when she approached Talic at the Quicksand from her deceased parents naming him her ward. As they spent more time together Nylora’s true past came to the surface and Vado wanted to help her. He offered her the services that his medical teams could provide at the time and he gained some information to help her. Together with the aid of the Court and it’s members, they tried to help Nylora but each passing day seemed to make no difference. With the piling up of Vado’s workload he could no longer manage assisting Nylora alone. Asking Talic to take over, he then went back to focusing on his work. However, Nylora has taken it upon herself to make sure that Vado is well fed when he works back late in the house and her deliveries of meals provides them with an opportunity to talk and remain engaged with each other, which he is grateful for. Xiang Kahkol (♦ ✔) - The Little Sister Vado first met Xiang after waking from unconsciousness. Xiang helped Vado to find his Allagan devices, which he thought he’d lost. He enjoyed Xiang’s company initially and still does somewhat as the two would talk about their commonality in homosexuality however recently, after it took him some time to draw information out around an incident that resulted in his death, he is not sure of his relationship with her anymore. Charlant Bastoix (♦ ✔) - The Theatrical Mage Vado has completed several jobs with Charlant. He enjoys his witty banter and flowery way of speaking, even if he finds it inefficient and unnecessary. He is wary of the power that Charlant wields and does not understand it whatsoever, which makes him uneasy, yet Charlant has shown himself to be a friend of the Court’s so far and this has been enough for him to trust him to have his back in a fight. Serick Aster (♦ ✔) - The Bouncer Vado first met Serick when he was ejected from the Court’s premises after he was prematurely invited to attend a meeting at which he was not welcome. Serick was sent outside to guard Vado. Vado has since been able to find time to speak with the older Keeper in an open and honest environment and Vado found it refreshing that Serick was straight to the point. Serick has said to Vado that he would be willing to spar with him anytime he wished, which Vado is appreciative of. E’shiji Tia (♥✔) - The Tiny Ninja Vado took E'shiji on as an apprentice in his workshop due to the passion he showed for Vado's craft. He began as a good student, completing tasks that Vado set and seemed dedicated to learning the craft. However, E'shiji disappeared for a period of time with no explanation which worried Vado a lot. E'shiji has since returned and Vado has spoken to him since, however it seems that he was spending time recovering from his injuries which gave time for Vado to reflect E'shiji's his position in the workshop moving forward. Cemi Jinfeh (●✔) - The Minigun Vado has spent very little time with Cemi but completed a few jobs with her. Vado has since learned that Cemi is a skilled alchemist and while some of her practices may be questionable, she was amenable to the idea of creating potions for him to take into the field on missions for healing. Pandora Voss (♦✔) - The Doctor Vado has respect for Pandora and the work she does in the medical bay. Although he has heard rumours that she can create some potions of questionable effect, he has not spoken of this with her. Since she has been promoted to Courtier, they have been afforded the opportunity to work together to help secure a location for a new engineering workspace for the Court. Vado has been grateful for the opportunity and appreciates Pandora's input. Vado has completed some devices to assist Pandora and the other medical staff to track the status of members while they are aware from the house, enabling them to respond to any medical crisis quickly. More recently, Vado was present when Pandora's sickness seemed to take over her body and threatened her life. He was responsible for notifying Yusui who then worked to help restore her. An ongoing process. Cierra Borlaq (♦✔) - The Divine Huntress Vado was impressed with Cierra’s discipline from the moment he first watched her use her bow on a practice dummy. She is controlled and level headed, admirable given her tribal heritage, something else which drew Vado to her. Vado helped Cierra on the first leg of her journey to acquire a soulstone which belonged to a long deceased samurai. Vado and Cierra used to train together with Cierra developing Vado's hand to hand combat skills. He never successfully defeated her in a sparring match before he decided that he needed to continue to broaden his horizons with his training. Vado sees Cierra more often now that she has taken a position which requires her to work with Marcus more closely. Dalmar Ferrera (♥♦) - The Youth Vado's first impression of Dalmar was the he was a lost individual. No family, no real friends and no idea about romance or dating. Vado invited Dalmar to the bar he works at occasionally and while he was physically attracted to the blonde haired youth, his heart was divided in several places. The two spoke occasionally when they could but it appears that they may be able to foster a true friendship built on trust. Dalmar is now seeing A'sedai Tyatu and Vado could not be happier for the both of them, hoping Dalmar can find happiness with her. Madeleine Lanverlais (●✔) - The Wailing Woman This woman came up with a hairbrained scheme that would see Vado imprisoned before he'd even had a chance to meet her formally. However, she visited him after the incident was resolved and despite Vado's initially cold reception, he sympathised with her current situation. Still not entirely sure of her morals and how she works, he understands the importance of secrets and keeping some things hidden and can empathise with her on this level. Biast Basiliscus (♦✔) - Garlean Brilliance Vado had no respect for Garlean engineering until meeting Biast. The two are yet to sit down and discuss their theories and projects, however from the brief conversation they have had, Vado is overjoyed at the man's brilliance and eagerness to get back into a workshop, a goal that Vado will do everything he can to help him achieve. He looks forward to the things they will create together and watching what Biast does on his own. Vado has some concerns about mention of a drug addiction and wishes to speak with him further on this, but overall enjoys his company. Atlan Himaa (♦ ✔) - The Medical Dragon Vado has had little to do with Atlan on a personal level yet he has seen him perform his healing on other members of the Court and he is in awe of it. Favouring aetheric healing it is a miracle to Vado how he does this but his skill is undeniable. Vado trusts him to perform any medical procedure required on him. A'sedai Tyatu (♦✔) - Class in Female Form Vado has had very little interaction with A'sedai, however he appreciates her demeanour and skill in battle. She also seems to be a kind woman to Dalmar and Vado is appreciative of this also. He would work beside her without question as she seems to possess an innate sense of professionalism and capability. Hylda Brood (♦✔) - The Earth Witch Hylda performed a ritual on Nylora, at Vado’s request, to help heal her from injuries she had sustained prior to joining the Court. Initially, Vado was angry because he believed the ritual did not work and in fact, harmed Nylora further. It was later that he came to realise that the ritual had indeed worked and helped to heal Nylora. Vado recently had the opportunity to run into Hylda nad give her his thanks and apologise for his behaviour after the ritual. Hylda was pleasant and cordial the last time they spoke. Daiyu Kahkol (♦✔) - The Security Officer Vado met Daiyu when the Mistress first suggested that the two work together on establishing a security system for the mansion they had just recently relocated to. Vado was quick to develop a respect for Daiyu’s professionalism, admiring her logic and judgement and her willingness to collaborate. Vado has also fought alongside Daiyu in the field and seen the punishment she can withstand. He would trust Daiyu to have his back in any situation. J’veda Thiro (●✔) - The New Recruit Vado did have the opportunity to know Veda very well at all before she chose to leave the Court. Their paths may cross occasionally still, however, their interactions will still probably remain minimal. Charce Noirterel (♠✔) - The Deceiver Vado and Charce’s relationship has been under almost continual strain since Charce first joined and Vado criticized his fieldwork. Their relationship has never really mended from there and just as it appeared as though it might, Charce revealed that he was spying on Vado. It was also later revealed that Charce had negotiated a deal with an enemy of the Court and this had catastrophic consequences for all members of the Court. Vado was present when Charce was taken by Imperials and even considered shooting him at the time. Finally it was decided that Charce's ambitions and goals no longer lined up with the Courts and he was asked to leave. Vado was not sorry to see him go and has not seen or heard from him since, however Vado still does not trust Charce at all. Shona Hotgo (●✔) - The Insane Painter Vado has only met Shona twice. The first time he rambled and Vado found it hard to keep up with his illogical way of speaking and mannerisms. Shona, an acquaintance of Charce’s, also took the opportunity to repeatedly remind him that Charce hated him, which Vado was unappreciative of. The second time Shona seemed a lot more like he was in control of his faculties if not still blunt to the point of rude. Shona left the Court shortly after Charce did and Vado has not seen or heard from him since. Kahn’a Ohditra (♦) - The Keeper Kahn’a has been a friend to Vado for a long time. In their last meeting, Kahn'a was extremely irritable and cranky due to the fact that he had recently lost his eye. He chided Vado for living such a refined life away from tribal life. Vado asked Kahn'a to teach him more about tribal hunter life and the two agreed that they would spend some time hunting. Whether or not this happens, only the future can tell. Ozgar (♥ ) - The Wolfman The man known to Vado only as Ozgur first introduced himself to Vado only as Ozgur. Vado was drawn to his wild looks and Ozgur helped Vado to deal with the inner hatred and rage he felt towards his father. During an intense moment of passion, Ozgur bit into Vado’s neck, near killing him however Ozgur recovered his senses in time to heal Vado, although Vado still wears the scars today. Rhyan Charm (♠) - The Narcissist Vado was dating Rhyan for a short time and he invited him to attend Naga’s wedding with him. Rhyan spent most of their time talking about his long lost love and even though Vado was trying to be patient with him, it grew tiresome. After Vado had met Talic and the two decided to marry, Vado thought it was right to tell Rhyan. Rhyan laughed at Vado when he told him. Vado left with a fairly negative impression of Rhyan after that. Rinh’li Nelhah (♦) - The One-Eyed Hunter Vado met Rinh’li in Ul’dah. When Rinh’li learned that Vado could create Magitek prosthetics, he approached Vado to make him a new eye which had been damaged during a fight. Vado was fond of Rinh’li and offered to complete the task as a gift. Rinh’li was overjoyed to receive the new eye and he and Vado parted ways amicably. A’lehsi Tia (♦) - The Pirate Trader Vado met A’lehsi during an even that he, Marcus and Ahzra’li were attending. Vado and Lehsi originally discussed having a dinner involving both of their partners at the time, however that never happened. Since then, Vado has seen Lehsi again through a mutual friend, Sebra'li Jinjahl. Lehsi and Sebra'li are dating and Lehsi has once again invited Vado to dinner, however, this is still yet to happen. Pyotyr Ilych (♦) - The Surgeon Vado used to work with Pyotyr and even though the two had relatively little to do with each other, Vado always remembered him as being kind, warm and approachable. After Vado had left the Court and sustained two bullet wounds, with no doctors on hand at the Court, Vado contacted Pyotyr and made his way back to the Shroud where Pyotyr treated him. The two are close friends and would always be there for one another if need be. They still say hello on occasion when they do see each other. Mhridi’a Vosu (♦) - The Starving Artist Vado met Mhridi’a recently in Pearl Lane in Ul’dah. Mhridi'a's love of artwork and art was something that Vado had tried to foster with the Keeper, however he is so insistent that he wishes to forge his own path and achieve success on his own that he refuses any help that Vado might provide. Regardless, Vado cares very much about the Keeper and helps him out on occasion. Sephirah Eruafnor (●) - The Lost Boy Vado’s first encounter with Sephirah entailed him attempting to claim Vado’s soul for the Void to make him a thrall. Vado was then tasked with the capture of Sephirah. While he failed to hunt him down, Sephirah did find Vado. Taking advantage of Sephirah’s failed magic spell, Vado captured and disarmed Sephirah, separating him from his scythe with the help of Charlant. During his short time in Vado’s capture, he and Sephirah had an opportunity to chat and it was here that Vado began to see Sephirah as less of an enemy and more like a lost boy who needed to be saved. More recently, the two met again in the Shroud and while Sephirah was not very forthcoming with information, he did encourage Vado to keep trying to save him because the Au Ra inside him could still hear his words. Y’sebe Tia (♥) - The Escort Vado very recently met Y’sebe in Ul’dah. Vado was quite taken with the escort’s wit and sense of humour and as the two chatted it became clear that being an escort wasn’t Y’sebe’s only skill and it was revealed that he was an information broker, of sorts. Y’sebe was extremely intelligent and savvy with his business, if not slightly careless and Vado appreciated all of it. After an incident involving an individual who looked very much like Vado, he had to make it up to Y'sebe by apologising to him. Vado also gifted the Seeker with a very expensive piece of jewellery. Alden Thorne (●) - The Warrior of Light Vado met Alden whilst travelling through Kugane. As the two talked it became apparent to Vado that many of Alden’s claims seemed ludicrous to the point where it frightened him. Vado and Alden have parted ways and Vado is not sure how he’d react if they were to meet again. Some of these rumours are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.
