Marius nan Ferrum is larger than life, both physically and metaphorically. Imposing is an understatement with the man, standing at a full 7’7”, his build wide, muscular and solid. He keeps an impeccable appearance, blond hair cropped short and properly clean-shaven. Despite access to magitek to repair such, there are long, vicious old scars that run down the left side of his face, from his temple to his wide, square jaw. He bears the distinct eye-color common to the Ferrums, being an icy, pale blue.
It is rare for Marius to not look presentable. He will typically dress uniforms, richly decorated as is befitting for his station, unless he expects to be dealing with a hands-on project instead of merely dealing with administrative duties. He wears no jewelry beyond a simple silver wedding band which is often hidden beneath his gloves.
Marius nan Ferrum is the second son of Garlemald’s famous, powerful House Ferrum. As such, he has enjoyed privilege and wealth since he was a child, raised to fully accept he is in a position far above others. Many find his demeanor brutish and unbecoming for a high noble, but none can deny that the man has a brilliant mind when it comes to aether and technology. Over his years, he has risen to high rank and prestige, and has secured himself a nearly untouchable position through bribes and arrangements with the Empire’s most powerful people. He is a cunning, devious, powerful man, and is keenly aware of it.

Marius is known to play favorites with his staff. He tolerates insubordination from those he’s fond of, and often allows them to bend rules. His top staff happens to be quite young in comparison to other facilities, as he “likes fresh ideas without the trained regulation”. The fact they all happen to be attractive is something unexplained.
Quite a lot of scandalous rumors have arisen that Marius has a weakness for miqo’te males, often preferring them to warm his bed.
Has a well documented distaste for gold/yellow eye colors, often describing them as “beastly”.

Atticus sas Ferrum( ♦ ♥ )( NPC ) - Elder Brother
The heir of House Ferrum and Marius’s older brother. Though the two have never had any kind of significant falling out, due to their busy positions, the relationship between them is more business than personal these days. Marius views his brother with fond respect, and is quietly grateful for him taking the burden of the Head of the Household once their father passes; Marius does not and never has been interested in taking Lordship of the house, far too dedicated to his research.
Marius’s younger sister, and a well-liked figure in the Imperial Capital. As with Atticus, their relationship is more business than personal. Constance’s motives and projects are often shrouded, giving Marius a need to distance himself from her. He, however, never doubts her loyalties, and the two occasionally ask for favors from one another here and there.
Aurelia rem Ferrum( ♥ ♦ )( NPC ) - Niece
Atticus’s daughter and Marius’s niece. Marius watched the girl grow up in the scrutinizing eye of his brother, and often sympathized with the strict upbringing. Though his own work kept him from reaching out often, he occasionally develops equipment specifically for her own use to gift her with. It seems the closest the man is able to do to dote on her.
Nerilla goe Ferrum( ♠ )( NPC ) - Wife
Marius’s wife of nearly twenty-two years due to an arranged marriage. To say that their marriage is strained would be a massive understatement. The two all but despise each other for a long list of reasons. Marius wants little to do with Nerilla’s quest for power and influence, and Nerilla tends to be forceful with her efforts to change his mind. Further strains come from Marius’s preference for male lovers, and the lack of an heir between them.
Aurix nan Otus is Marius’s apprentice and closest confidant. A former student of his, Marius took the boy in after he was orphaned by the hands of Ala Mhigan resistance members. Over the years, he watched Aurix’s mind bloom into someone he can consider an intellectual equal, and the two have developed ground-breaking new technology together that would astound even the most decorated scientists. Marius trusts Aurix above all others, but even the strong bond they share does not stand up to Marius’s ambitions; Marius abandoned Aurix to Marcus Feral when he was captured in favor of keeping his flagship project going. For the most part, however, it does not seem to have hurt their relationship.
The newest addition to Marius’s team, and one he’s named as his protégé. When Victor first came to him, he pulled quite a stunt, threatening to steal Marius’s research. The young man’s threats were put down quickly, but Marius found himself impressed and amused by the attempt. He took Victor in as a temporary staff member first, and after seeing his drive, ambition, and lack of restraint, decided to make him a permanent fixture in his division. Victor has proved himself to be reliable and effective, something Marius appreciates, and as such, he allows Victor many privileges and allowances that he truly shouldn’t have.
Valerius mal Prium( ♦ ✔ ♥ ) - Personal Assistant
A handsome, incredibly efficient young man that Marius has been using as his personal assistant. Marius finds Valerius’s cordial demeanor and precise organization highly useful and appreciated, though others have criticized the decision due to Valerius’s lack of experience, believing the decision was made for less than honorable intentions. Though Marius isn’t speaking of his intentions, Valerius has made himself more than useful, and is one of the few Marius can rely on for complex medical procedures and studies if Aurix is not available.
Noctus nan Focarius( ♦ ✔ ♥ ✖)( NPC ) - Former Apprentice
A former student, and useful member of Marius’s staff. Though Marius was always harsh with Focarius, including punishment for his failures, he had hoped to see great things from the young man, despite his half-Doman blood. Focarius was killed recently by Marcus Feral, however, leaving all he had behind to Victor mal Argyris with Marius’s blessing.
”Marius’s thoughts regarding Ahzra’li have been something he has rarely spoken of to anyone, even Aurix. There is a certain care in the way he treats the Keeper, and it has been suggested that he may be the closest Marius has to a son. All he has openly said, however, is that he wishes to make the Keeper stronger.”
”Ahzra’li’s current employer, and, from Marius’s perspective, the first man in line between him and his legacy. Despite their apparent opposition and distaste for one another, Marius has developed something like respect for the Captain, at least able to appreciate the Seeker’s tenacity and propriety. Marcus was a recent captive of his, and once Marius believed he properly understood the weight of his situation, went as far as to offer Marcus a position working for him. The two have not spoken since Marcus’s and Ahzra’li’s escape, making it difficult to determine Marius’s current position on the Captain.”
A bastard son of Atticus’s, and Marius’s nephew. Though Marius disapproves of Anaguma’s gravitation towards Doman techniques (And his Doman blood altogether), he is fascinated by his demeanor, and how alike he is to Atticus even having spent his lifetime never meeting him. Ultimately, he knows to leave the boy alone, however; he is Atticus’s to deal with.
Marius does not know much of Dovienya, only having heard her name after hours of ‘persuasion’ with her husband, Marcus. He knows enough to see her as the mastermind behind many of the things he had been giving Marcus credit for. What little he knows reminds him some of his own wife, however, which has made him sympathize with Marcus more than he wished to.
Marius has only received small amounts of information on Tempest, often when she is near to Anaguma. What he knows of her is that she is a mage of no small talent, and, while that is commendable, he does not see her as a threat, unlike others who are more interested in the future of House Ferrum’s bloodline.
