Reretha is a Dunesfolk born to a family of merchants operating out of Camp Drybone. She never speaks of her upbringing, which is of surprise to no one as she rarely speaks much of any topic. Oftentimes, she appears distracted, gazing off as though listening to a distant sound and smiling all the while.

Though she never talks of an occupation, it is obvious to any who know of her that Reretha is without employ or trade; the woman actually takes employment with the troupe of performers, Lansquenet, when she's not off wandering wherever her little legs will carry her.

Looks and Mannerisms

Appearance

Standing at just an ilm over three fulms, Reretha measures in as tall, at least for a lalafell. Despite her appearance of simplicity, the woman somehow manages to take care of her hair... to an extent. Adorning her head, it appears the color of a dark wine, bound into two small tails in back, while the sides bear a braid just in front of each ear, leaving the rest to hang naturally and frame her childlike face. A meager diet or simply privation keeps her rail-thin, though she seems not to notice. Similar in color to her hair are her eyes, which shine dimly even in full darkness. The dull pair are never able to focus on any one thing for very long before glazing over once more, gone away with Reretha's attention.
From her neck to just below her knees, her body is adorned by a dark, long-sleeved robe reminiscent of a priestess'. The garment is well-fitted, but in dire need of mending, patchy throughout and worn to the point of tearing in several places. Beneath the robe are a similarly tattered set of thick, cotton pants, though mostly damaged from the knee downward. At the end of her legs, each foot is (mostly) covered by a pair of shoes so worn down through travel, just looking at them might cause them to fall apart. Only her glasses are in any proper state of repair; both lenses remain intact and largely untouched, while the frames retain much of their original shape, save for some minor shifts that arose naturally from near-constant wear.

Personality

Reretha is, in a word, simple. To the casual observer, she appears to take pleasure from just sitting about in a crowd, watching people go about their lives. Though her conversational skills are awkward at best, she makes some effort toward expressing herself solely through kind words or gestures, as though it were rote. Despite that, she only knows directness in communication, which often leads to misunderstandings or bruised feelings.
For a woman of her years and upbringing, she understands little and always appears forgetful. Her attention is easily lost to nearby goings-on, noises, and often seemingly nothing at all (as best anyone else can tell). She’s just as wont to sit and listen to someone for hours as she is to wander off after the first few words.

Biography

Before the Calamity

Cocotulu Rorotulu never claimed his family was wealthy, or even prosperous, but as early in Reretha’s life as anyone had known him, he always attempted to provide for his family. For a child, she was a tough bargainer and a savvy businesslady. Though she rarely had reson to speak with those of Camp Drybone in her brief childhood there, what little she did say left the impression of a well-behaved young lady who did not spare any effort to reach her goals, or what few such a young girl could have in a remote a settlement as Drybone. As her family’s livelihood became more and more strenuous, demanding more labor and coin of them than it was truly worth, Reretha became disillusioned with a lifestyle focused on wealth and worldly goods. On her twelfth nameday, Reretha announced that she was leaving to pursue fulfilling something other than her purse.
Having lived her whole life until then in close proximity to the Church of Saint Adama Landama, matters of faith were no foreign affair to the girl. To that end, she sought out the twin houses of worship within Ul’dah, and their teachings on Nald’thal. Reretha kept herself from the public eye for several years in pursuit of her religious studies. The woman who emerged a priestess of the patron deity was one more withdrawn and placid than the girl who left Drybone, though a stubborn streak still lay beneath her demure behavior.
In an attempt to put action to the religion she spent so many years devoted to, Reretha left Ul’dah on a pilgrimage to the many holy sites of the Twelve, with her intended ending destination being Drybone. Her journey went, by and large, undocumented by travelers as clergy do not often stand out in areas such as she visited. It was during the woman’s absence that Dalamud fell, and it wasn’t until well after that she was sighted again.

After the Fall

Whether Reretha completed her pilgrimage or not is unknown. Several moons after the Calamity, she appeared again in Camp Drybone, though there was no one left there who would recognize her; her father, mother, and sister had since abandoned her birthplace in favor of better business at the Silver Bazaar. Those who did note her wrote off the lalafell’s odd behavior as mere shock at the horrors the Calamity wrought in Eastern Thanalan and the Black Shroud nearby. However, as she traveled from place to place with no apparent destination, further sightings proved that whatever survived the Calamity donning the name Reretha Retha was far different than who she had been before. Since then, she has wandered Eorzea, having been spotted several times in increasing states of disarray within the three major city-states and rarely elsewhere.

Relations
Love      Good Standing     Neutral Standing     Poor Standing
Nebula Stardancer : One half of the couple that has successfully managed to weave its way into the haphazard little life Reretha leads. She and her partner, Ilwe'ran, have attempted to teach her as best they could of friendship for as long as they've known her. As best anyone can tell, the lalafell prefers Nebula's more haphazard and organic approach to things compared to Ilwe's reserved and careful nature.
Ilwe'ran Hlaiwa : The other half of the couple comprising her closer friends, who has doted kindly on both her and Nebula. In hosting a small party at his house, it was he who invited the woman to join the group rather than waste the afternoon sitting around outside. His more inquisitive approach to her oddness has led Reretha to seeking more answers of herself and others.
Aumeric Chassebel : Though the elezen seems to mean well with his concern for the girl, his attitude seems toward Reretha gives rise to more questions from her than answers. In truth, he struck a stubborn streak in the girl that others might not find through casual conversation by prodding her about the terrible state of disrepair her clothes were in. He convinced her to join Lansquenet with the allure of spending her time enjoying the many crowds they might perform for in their time together.
Fenr'ir Nebelung : While Aumeric was responsible for convincing Reretha to join up with Lansquenet, its leader was responsible for incorporating her. While the two do not share much in common, nor do they ever speak overlong, the lalafell clearly holds Fenr'ir in some level of regard, even if she herself does not understand why.
