Backstory

Partially written by Tamm'lin Maertena's Player
The start of this story is that there isn't even a start. S'kye quite literally woke up in some damned forest one day, couldn't remember where they were, who they were, and whose shirt they even had on. No wounds could be seen, no chocobos nearby, and really it almost seems the lalafell just laid down for a nap... then forgot her life. Which, in hindsight... isn't all that great. However, S'kye managed to bumble out of the forest and into a nearby village of Sun Seekers, who luckily for S'kye, managed to take pity on the poor, portly, and apparently brain-absent thing. They took the Lalafell in, assuming she was a child from the skies, who'd been sent down for a second chance at life. The Clan gave her a name and integrated here into the village with much joy.
Or at least, that's the story Tamm would tell you, but like all good tales there's an element that changes between storytellers. You want to know what really happened? Well you're in luck.
The start is true. One day the Lalafel just woke up in the middle of no-where, with no idea who she was or even what she was. All she knew was a need to survive. The Lalafel walked for hours in the empty Thanalan deserts before collapsing in a small black heap. When she awoke she found herself in a small village of Seekers. They had given her food and water and even clothes. They viewed her as some sort of gift from the skies. Over time, the Lalafell gained an understanding of language, both through memory flashbacks and teaching and they even gave her a name. S'kye. A subtle nod to her apparent origin. S'kye did her best to fit in around the tribe, helping out with tasks and even helping teach the younger Miqo'te. All around the innocent little Lalafell did her best to live a normal life.
Then she met Tamm. Big green eyes ablaze with intense mischief and curiosity. At first, S'kye was cautious of Tamm. Her constant talking about ditching traditions and leaving sounded crazy to her. "Just leave the people that saved my life? That'd be so rude!" she would say. But eventually it got to her. Tamm'lin's constant talking of the outside world and it's mysteries struck a chord with the Lalafel. She'd lost ALL her memories and she was just sat there doing the same thing every day. There could be so much outside the desert that she'd never see. After that, the two ladies quickly became inseparable, as S'kye quickly developed a never-ending crave for knowledge.
Knowledge they wouldn't really be able to find, considering the Seeker female was meant to do not much more in life than settle for being a woman of the clan and the Lalafel didn't know anything other than what she remembered and was taught by the Seekers. As the two grew older and more 'of age', S'kye's itch to learn had become a full out lust, constantly asking about things the Tribe simply didn't know enough about. All the while, the wild-hearted Seeker only grew more frantic in her resolute bucking of tradition. - Which the current Nuhn had simply had enough of.
He decided to teach the girl a lesson; Whether she liked it or not.
Something changed in S'kye when she saw the Nuhn force himself upon and attack her best friend, something new, something not from her past life. In an instant her fight of flight instinct was already gone. She stopped pleading for the Nuhn to stop and just...changed. Her body moved on it's own accord, knowing that once the Nuhn had finished with her friend he'd surely attack her too. In that moment, she attacked. All it took was a single hand movement as two sharp shards of ""stone"" burst from the floor and floated in front of her very eyes. She'd never been able to use magic before, nor did she even know what an Aether was! But this S'kye, this strange other version of herself didn't care about what she did or didn't know, just that her friend was in danger. With another swipe the shards found themself lodged in the Nuhn's skin, who dropped what he was doing to face the tiny Lalafell. His boot across her face came as a rude shock to the Lalafell, who'd assumed her body was going to keep moving on it's own and fighting for her. As she lay there in pain watching her friend tear the Nuhn apart, her fractured innocence taking a harsh beating, she could feel something different about herself. Inside her head, deep within her mind was someone who had saved Tamm. Another S'kye. Or at least that's what she'd thought for most of her life.
As the blood pooled around her bare, bruised feet - her Seeker friend stood there, gasping for breath, mind cooling from the adrenaline high. Then panicking happened. Knowing the repercussions would be severe and only focusing on the survival of her friend and herself, the Lalafel suggested they steal some food and water and go as far away possible. Deciding it was probably for the best, the two two fled as fast and as far as legs could carry. Rather, as far as T'amm could carry S'kye. For years, they traveled together; Living in any way they knew how, which wasn't very much, other than raising general hell. There were small things about S'kye that were different, she seemed much more less reserved and quiet and surprisingly good at deceiving people. Unlike the innocent flower Tamm had once known, this S'kye was willing to do anything to survive. Over time, this "survival" eventually turned into petty crime, petty crime turned into short cons, and short cons turned into all out fraud. The pair was incredibly' good at being incredibly bad, and the mental high that was achieved from such acts was addicting.
However, after a rather big con went south and the two were nearly killed, S'kye changed again. Everything from her posture to her speech was different and almost exactly like it'd been back in Camp. The more shy, normal S'kye suggested that they stop with all the crime because it's not a good way of life and would only lead to them getting killed. Whilst many believe this situation was proof that S'kye had some sort of split personality, the truth is much deeper than that. The S'kye that fought back against the Nuhn, the same S'kye that was into crime and deceiving people wasn't another person, but rather a response to her environment. When the innocent Lalafell was faced with a situation so different and traumatizing, she was faced with the choice to adapt or die. And she chose to adapt. At first, being ""bad"" weighed heavily on her conscience. She knew what she was doing was awful and that she herself was awful. But she couldn't change her ways. Robberies and cons were all she knew and without them she'd surely run out of money and die. That was until the ""accident"". After falling through the stained glass windows of the Golden Saucer and barely living thanks to an extremely rare coincidence, S'kye had to re-evaluate her life. She had to change, and she couldn't do it with Tamm. S'kye suggested that they stop with all the crime because it wasn't a good way of life and would only lead to them getting killed. Surprised to hear from the S'kye she used to know, Tamm realised that maybe she could lay low for a bit, so the two parted ways. Tamm went to Limsa Lominsa and S'kye remained in Ul'dah, trying to learn more about her other self and the magical arts.
After a while, the two grew to miss each other and so eventually they re-united for good, for a while at least. Tamm hadn't managed to kick her criminal habit, still picking fights with strangers and picking pockets. S'kye however, had managed to move on. It was hard at first, but after months of menial labor for various taverns and a whole lot of luck she was finally back in a lawful way. Or at least until she joined the Pathfinders...

FLAWS

Destructive - A trail of destruction follows her everywhere she goes.
Naive - Her lack of knowledge often results in people taking advantage of her with lies.
Misguided Morals - Good and Bad are interchangeable in her eyes.
Really short.

Appearance & Personality

Despite living with a village of people that worshipped the day, S'kye herself is actually quite pale. It's unbeknownst if this is due to her health or her love for robes.
Her bobbed hair is a dark black colour that often matches the dark attire she usually wears. Despite living in the dry deserts of Thanalan, her hair seemingly remains smooth and soft.
S'kye's love of black clothing doesn't come from some brooding nature or love of darkness, she simply likes black clothing because she likes the color and being able to blend into the shadows when large, scary, predators try to eat her. She usually wears some dark robes with her hood down, but has also acquired some pale formal attire in her travels. A lover of shinies, S'kye tends to wear whatever pretty rings and miscellany she can find.
After rediscovering herself in Ishgard, S'kye has shifted from a love of robes to a love for various outfits. Normally she's seen wearing engineering clothes with goggles or her sailor uniform, just because they're comfy.
The most unique feature of the Lalafel is her eyes. Not unheard of but still quite rare for a Lalafel, S'kye's heterochromia is often the subject of teasing and insults. She jokingly says that one of her eye's turned red after she defeated Ifrit (which she didn't) as a sign of her gaining the Primals power (a lie).

"My Brother's Cousin's friend's Sister's Auntie's Co-worker said that she fell out of the sky one day."
"I hear she'll transport any material goods you need for the right price. But be careful, certain people that go to her for transport needs never come back..."
◢ Character Rumors (Rumors left from other characters)
"S'kye is... well just S'kye. A bundle of energy and destruction wrapped up into a small mammet loving person who can cause no small amount of mayhem despite her pure and honest intentions." - Reinhold Allemand
"Hm? S'kye? She is the most adorable thing on two legs I have ever seen!! I honestly can't get enou..! W-Why is there a hole in the house...?" - Madison Brookstone
RELATIONS
Romantic??? Close Friends "Friends!" Acquaintances ¤Neutral "Jerks!"
Tamm'lin Maertena - Whilst they were once best of friends, after re-meeting their friendship drifted apart as S'kye started seeing the flaws in Tamm. Whilst they're still friends, S'kye certainly doesn't view her in the same light anymore.
Kazino - At the very least, he is great for riding around on his shoulders!
Shay - Also good for shoulder rides.
*Zigovali Rigovali - Once upon a time S'kye hated Zigo more than anybody else in the world, but since then they've become very close friends. No-one quite knows why they're such close friends, hell even S'kye doesn't know. Maybe it's because they're both Lalafell, maybe because they have similar histories? All S'kye cares about is that they're best pals. What's that? You think there could be more going on between them? Gosh no! Besides, if anyone she's got her eye on...
*Jujuwai Totowai - Whilst romantic relations isn't exactly accurate since they've only met once, something about Jujuwai just has S'kye enthralled. His expert knowledge on engineering and mammeteering is superior to anyone else S'kye knows and because of it she views him as the ultimate role model, studying and bettering herself so she can ""be"" like him. He's pretty much the closest thing she has to a crush and even then that's a stretch.

As the Lalafel spent her time with the village of Miqo'te, curious things started to happen. The Lalafell gained the ability to read, write, and speak with grace and brevity, without being taught - And in all manner of tongues! More than that, the Lalafell seemed to have extensive knowledge in Aether manipulation and esoteric mathematics, which seemingly came up at random. They couldn't remember the information at will, but the flashes that came on their own were powerful things, and S'kye's heading often pounding in pain afterwards for a few moments each time a piece of new information came rushing back to them."
When she finally left the Seeker tribe to travel forth into the world, to much fanfare because the cats really did enjoy her sunshine-face waddling around camp, S'kye eventually found herself in Ul'dah.
Why Ul'dah? Well... she liked the way the name rolled off the tongue. "Uuuuhhhlll'Daaaah!" She'd murmur, smiling to herself, adorable nose wrinkling up.
The moment she stepped foot into the city... nothing happened. No memories came flooding back, no ghostly twinges of "This looks familiar...", no pulls towards any sort of direction.
And this was good and pleasing to S'kye, who'd spent the last few years at the whim of her flighty memories.
With gil in her purse and a cheerful waddle to her step, the socially awkward, perhaps rightfully so, Lalafell began a new life in Ul'dah.
Now, even though her moments of painful memory return were now few and far between... she still had such a warm, comfortable feeling towards the magickal arts. It started out as curiosity, but quickly became full-on near insatiable lust for all types of magickal knowledge.
... And she seemed to have such a strange affinity for reptiles, of all things. Huh, weird!

This is at least the story she will tell you... Who knows if it's actually true?

Actual Backstory [SPOILERS. YOU MAY IGNORE THIS PART.]

This information is entirely OOC until mentioned IC.

Before beginning, this is partly taken from Tamm'lin Maertena's wiki page because the two are intertwined, however this backstory is from S'kye's perspective

Over time, the Lalafel gained an understanding of language, both through memory flashbacks and teaching and they even gave her a name. S'kye. A subtle nod to her apparent origin. S'kye did her best to fit in around the tribe, helping out with tasks and even helping teach the younger Miqo'te. All around the innocent little Lalafel did her best to live a normal life.

All it took was a single hand movement as two sharp shards of ice formed in the air in front of her. She'd never been able to use magic before, nor did she even know what an Aether was! But this S'kye, this strange other version of herself didn't care about what she did or didn't know, just that her friend was in danger. With another swipe the shards found themself lodged in the Nuhn's skin, who dropped what he was doing to face the tiny Lalafel. His boot across her face came as a rude shock to the Lalafel, who'd assumed her body was going to keep moving on it's own and fighting for her. As she lay there in pain watching her friend tear the Nuhn apart, her fractured innocence taking a harsh beating, she could feel something different about herself. Inside her head, deep within her mind was someone who had saved Tamm. Another S'kye. One she let take over as she slipped into sleep.

As the blood pooled around her bare, bruised feet - her Seeker friend stood there, gasping for breath, mind cooling from the adrenaline high. Then panicking happened. Knowing the repurcussions would be severe and only focusing on the survival of her friend and herself, the Lalafel suggested they steal some food and water and go as far away possible.

Surprised to hear from the S'kye she used to know, Tamm realised that maybe she could lay low for a bit, so the two parted ways. Tamm went to Limsa Lominsa and S'kye remained in Ul'dah, trying to learn more about her other self and the magical arts.

After a while, the two grew to miss eachother and so eventually they re-united for good.

After many suns worth of living life S'kye's way (NOT commiting mass crimes and frauding people out of their gil, but rather working actual jobs), the other S'kye suggested something; Stealing the normal way was hard... but what if they had others to help? What if, T'amm suggested, instead of simply expanding their repertoire, they dynamic duo goes for broke? At first the two S'kye's debated this. The innocent Lalafel protested that they had moved on from that life and that they should've just stuck to normal jobs, but the other S'kye (Whom had been aptly named, "Switch") mentioned that all they needed was one good heist and they'd be set for life, never having to harm anyone or commit a crime ever again. After some hesitation, the two inner S'kye's agreed that they could do one more job but then they'd just live normally from then on.

With much conferring with each other, a plan was hatched. It would be much easier to get what they wished, if others had no choice but to look the other way. If the Lalafell and the Seeker were in charge, who would be there to stop them?

No-one.

"Though... fear ain't a way t' gain loyalty." The tanned and scarred Miqo'te mused, as she adjusted her beloved Lalafell's hat just so.
"Ah, Tamm, this is true... but.." The raven haired mage reasoned, tilting her chin to peer up at her friend. "What about love?"
A snort rises from the throat of her hoodlum-esq partner, accompanied by a dramatic roll on intense seaglass colored feline eyes. "Love...? Wait... th's... th's could work. I gotta idea."
With a gentle smile, the quaint Lalafell nodded. "So do I."

With that, the plan was set. Now? Now, the two wait and see what happens next.
