One time there has been reports of mysterious deaths in the Black Shroud, mostly in the central part. The deaths were mostly of bandits and other lowlifes, some of their corpses had strange burn marks and all of them had a cherry blossom petal on top of them. This caught the attention of Solis, who had been in Arcadeus for a while learning all about adventuring with them. He took it upon himself to start investigating these deaths that kept coming, even after Anelia told him not to and to leave it to the Adder. His superior, [[Nysarias Ylrah]] herself looked after Solis and accompanied on his investigation, both of them running into a Doman caravan headed by the refugee Takemaru. He said that his travelling companion left him one night and has been causing trouble in the Shroud, and asked Solis and Nysa to look for her. After overcoming many comical ninja traps set by [[Sakura Mitarashi]], the kunoichi that was behind the deaths of the bandits, they caught her and were ambushed by Takemaru, who was revealed to be the master of a group of ninjas that want to kill Sakura for their own vendetta. Solis decided to protect her, and after Nysa getting poisoned by Takemaru and going into a coma for many weeks, Solis brought the two of them back to the Arcadeus estate, where Anelia could have discharged Solis if it weren't for [[Mizuho Mitarashi]], Sakura's distant relative and heir to their clan. She afterwards becomes thankful and devoted to Solis, calling him Solis-san as a nickname and acting as his partner soon after she herself joined Arcadeus.

A couple of moons after Sakura joined, Solis started having weird dreams in which he was in a completely different Coerthas than the snow-covered mountains currently, and he started hearing a voice beckoning to him. After a couple of dreams, he had enough and went to Coerthas along with Sakura to where the voice is coming from, now appearing out of his dreams as well. They stumbled across a sheer cliffside, and when Solis found out that the voice is coming from there, they dug into the snow to find a [[Niklas Gran|glowing blue crystal]], which is the source of the voice. Just then, a monster appeared and threatened to send them over the cliff to their deaths, if it weren't for the crystal suddenly taking over Solis's body and managing to drive the monster off the cliff instead. The crystal then introduces itself as Niklas Gran, a knight whose soul has been put into the crystal along with some of his aether before his body died, and is currently suffering amnesia as an result. He then accompanied Solis and Sakura as Sol's blue crystal necklace, taking control of his body either with or without his consent, essentially making it two souls in one body. Three weeks later, Solis, with the Niklas crystal, accompanied Aaron and some girls to a trek in Zaha'rak, when Niklas saw some hooded men beating up Amalj'aa and stealing a lot of fire crystals, which made Niklas and Solis suspicious of them. Another sun, Solis, Nik, Sakura, and Aaron ventured to Coerthas to hunt monsters when they saw the hooded men again, this time at Natalan taking their ice and wind crystals. Having bad feelings of them, Solis/Niklas and Sakura went after them, with Niklas showing his quick swordsmanship in front of them, recognizing his sword style, and immediately running away. Solis Claritas（ソリス・クラリータス）is a player character from the Balmung server. He is a greenhorn adventurer and well-trained gladiator raised by his father Solem Claritas. He comes from a small village in southern Thanalan that was under constant threat from the Amalj'aa coming from Zan'rak.

Solis fights using an unique style of swordsmanship and brawling taught by his father, which he calls his ultimate moves, but really they aren't. With his mother's bare-handed techniques and his father's swordsmanship, all of Solis's attacks can give out the sensation of a burning fire, each slash and strike with enough power that leaves a nasty burn. He fights using his sword, shield, fists and legs.
