Basic Info

Solitary. Gentle. Unassuming.
This woman, once known for her reluctance to leave the city of Limsa Lominsa, has long since spread her roots and turned them into branches. No longer simply the medical assistant to those who work for the Maelstrom in Lominsa, the Miqo'te Keeper has made a place for herself among a Free Company of erstwhile mercenaries, while finding work far from the pirate city.
Though her appearance has changed, old friends and those who have seen her heal and grow can still recognize the solitary woman beneath the better tailored clothes, the healthier body, and the seemingly more open personality.

Appearance & Personality

Slightly smaller than the average Miqo'te female, Kiipa blends into a crowd with considerable ease with how little attention she calls to herself. Her body is fit despite the curves of both hips and bust, and what little skin is shown in her formal wear bears little in the way of scarring. She bears one golden eye, while the other has taken on a paler gold hue - nearly silver. Across the bridge of her nose is a noticeable scar, but it seems to have healed considerably well.
Her clothing choices range from light clothing that bares her arms when in Ul'dah, to far more formal overcoats and skirts when business is to be conducted. She favors duller colors more often than not, with browns and blues making up her palette. Her lengthy hair, reaching to the small of her back in soft curls when freshly washed, has recently undergone a change from it's ashen green to a white. She is easily identified as a Keeper by her skin color - grey.
Around her throat is likely the only item that never changes - a simple black leather collar
Kiipa's personality upon first meeting can be vastly different per person. She wears her opinions on her sleeve, and it is not hard to be on the opposite side of a devastatingly low opinion for little more than one's race.
At her best, Kiipa is an easy-going woman with a silver tongue and a playful nature that seeks to pull even the most quiet and reclusive of person out of their shell. She is gentle and almost maternal to those that she regards as in need of protection, but those who she takes under her wing are held to a higher standard than most - it is not hard to fail to live up to her expectations, though she is kind enough not to say so.
At her worst, she is a reclusive woman with distinct xenophobic tendencies. The ease with which she flirts at her best is instead replaced by a quick temper and a harsher tongue that easily finds the worst in a person and twists it into a weapon against any who might offend her. She loses her ability to understand and even cope with emotions, often lashing out in anger when patience is desperately needed.

Biography

Childhood

Kiipa was born into a large clan hidden deep within the Shroud. Her mother was a well-known hunter who had won one of the rare males to her side as a primary lover. Not long after Kiipa's birth, her mother and father pulled from the clan during a territorial dispute with another larger clan. Little more than a toddler in the eyes of most, Kiipa learned as her mother had learned when she was but a child, and became quickly accustomed to the use of a bow and dagger, while learning of the medicinal herbs and foodstuffs that grow in the Shroud.
Not long after their initial parting, the small family came into the fold of two more that had also deviated from larger clans for their own reasons. Accepted, the trio of families bonded, with Kiipa swiftly learning how to treat skinned knees for the children to the more dire injuries that came from the adults hunting.

Teenage

Her life remained tranquil, as the family grew to add two sisters a handful of years later, and a brother - much to the joy of the entire clan. Kiipa grew close to another boy within the clan, but youth for both made anything else impossible.

Present

Due to intense trauma during and after the events of the Calamity, most of Kiipa's childhood is completely lost to her - though it's really unknown if this is by choice, or due to actual injury. Those who tended to the woman after her extraction from a collapse in Gridania were unable to pull a family name from her, and so she was granted the surname 'Nulstat' as a joke made by another patient who was recovering in the bed next to the Miqo'te woman. When that patient passed from extensive injury, Kiipa kept the surname as both a memory of his kindness, and because it fit who she had become - a woman with nothing.
At the very least, she remembers that her family was small; two younger sisters, and the youngest brother. Her clan was composed of three families in total, each having broken off from other larger clans. Beyond that, she does not remember more than the terrifying moment of losing her grip on her sister, and the heart-breaking feeling of her brother's heartbeat slowly fading against her chest amidst the stifling and compressing collapse.
From there, her life has been a whirlwind of recovery. Moved from Gridania to Limsa Lominsa, she recovered alongside the sea in the company of Maelstrom doctors. As her healing progressed, she accompanied the medical personnel and eventually took up roles where assisting was allowed. It was in this manner that she was, for all intents and purposes, underhandedly trained in medicine. When it was discovered that she had a knack for numbers and was deemed well enough to leave the city if needed, she was sent to the Arcanist's Guild.
Having traveled extensively and learned a great many things, Kiipa now exists among the Dreamers as a physician alongside other talented medical personnel, assisting in the physical and emotional well-being of those who make up the company.

RELATIONS

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Family Good Standing Poor Standing
Areic Davrun : An amusing meeting in the rain developed into a friendship, and then into much more. Through his patience, Kiipa has bloomed into the woman she never thought she'd manage to become, let alone for one not of her own race. There is no longer any question in her mind where she belongs; at his side as his lover, friend, and confidante. Though he spends a great deal of time away from her, she keeps tokens from him on her person at all times - little reminders of stolen moments, and happy memories to make her eager for his return for the chance to make more.
Kian Daas : While others might question the familial relationship the two have formed, the pair themselves refuse to acknowledge that it's odd at all. Kiipa's devotion to her Hyuran brother is as unwavering as it is deep, and she associates many of the choices she makes with the very early lessons he taught her, if unknowingly. Despite a few rocky patches as any siblings are like to encounter, there is no doubt in Kiipa's mind that if she had need of him, he would be there. Likewise, there are likely very few who could claim to be more at the grumphus' side... should he ever need her.
Anton Borneheld : Though recent times seem to have done more damage than good, Kiipa's affection for the man she considers her best friend remains unwavering no matter how he annoys her. She delights in teasing him and goes too far sometimes, but is quick to apologize with her actions, even if her words aren't used. Those who view them without knowing their friendship are easily led to believe that their relationship is actually a romance, and the pair bicker back and forth with one another that it easily feeds into such thoughts. No matter what he chooses to believe, Kiipa is only too quick to assure anyone who might ask that the man is, in fact, family and dear to her.
Erimmont Chevalier : There is more to the friendship than meets the eye, though it's difficult to tell precisely where things land in regards to the two. Outwardly, the two exhibit a playful dynamic that makes them seem almost like old friends, but when the crowds are gone and the pair are alone, something more akin to the relationship a father and daughter might have appears. There's no question that she cares for the man as one of her own, and she relies on him as not only a friend, but as a mentor and caretaker as well. No matter where the near-hermit may roam, she has made it clear that her door is always open if he needs a place to stay, or a hug to feel sane once more.
Gen Quickpaw : A story of first impressions that evolve into something better, where Kiipa once believed the man to be little more than a drunk and a whore, she now sees him for the potential leader and friend that he can be. Granted, it's hard to hate a man once you've seen him panic over the birth of his child. Their odd dynamic tends to raise eyebrows, but both deny anything more than a working relationship.
Vanilla Wayfarer : Another brief encounter, the Seeker's attempts to cajole Kiipa into being more receptive to the attentions of others has done little on the surface, though Kiipa bears a grudging respect for the woman's efforts.
