Appearance & Personality
Vanilla is a calm, calculating Seeker of the Sun who usually takes the more pragmatic option, given the choice. She spends a lot of time playing the 'straight man' to her more unhinged friends, always there to offer a bit of advice or to patch them up when their plans go awry. As a miner, she's much stronger than her slight frame would suggest, but she's not particularly tough, With little skill in actual physical combat.
Vanilla has long blond hair which is well groomed and styled in either pigtails or more recently, tight braids. She posesses fair skin, but due to her very light hair coloration and preference for light colored clothing, her skin seems darker than it really is. She is short for a Miqo'te, but she has excellent posture, which makes the most of her slight build. She is also well underweight for a miqo'te of her height, despite being a hearty eater and legendarily heavy drinker.
Biography
Vanilla is the daughter of two adventurers, Miqo'te who travelled frequently in search of treasure and glory. From what little Vanilla knows of their history, they searched the realm for old ruins and treasures from eras past, and they frequently left the borders of Eorzea to do it. When the Garleans attacked, They fought valiantly at the battle of Carteneau, but were never found in the aftermath, neither alive nor dead. Vanilla holds out hope that they still live, as they were prone to leaving her with her Auntie and Uncle for long periods at a time, but after 4 years without any contact that hope dwindled to mere apathy.
Vanilla's childhood was spent in the woods, unlike a typical Seeker she was more comfortable in the shadows of the forest canopy, learning about the animals and plants and helping tend the farm and the animals within. Her Aunt and Uncle, not related by blood, are close friends to her biological parents, and were her guardians while her parents were off travelling the world in search of adventure. Vanilla would marvel at the tales she was told about faraway lands, and had aspired to one day see them for herself. A side effect of this lifestyle comes in the form of Vanilla's near-total ignorance of how Seeker tribes function, her knowledge either being completely absent or worse, hilariously inaccurate.
After the start of the Seventh Umbral Era, Vanilla started hearing voices in her head. Her Auntie, now her permanent guardian, took her to the Conjurer's Guild to be tested, and was told her potential for becoming a Hearer was great, an uncommon trait even for the Hyur and Elezen that populated the woods, and virtually unheard of among other races. She began her training at once, slowly learning to respect and commune with the spirits of nature, and developing into a skilled healer. She never did become fully inducted among the hearers, as that would mean abandoning her dream of travelling the world, but she still hears the spirits once in a while, and is comforted by their constant presence.
Vanilla is also a practitioner of the nearly-lost art of White Magic, and is excited at the revival of such a long-forgotten form of magic. She is especially skilled in rituals of succor, which are less magical and more traditional medicine passed down by generation.
Her best freind, Tikka Swift, was kidnapped by some mysterious assailants while she had stepped out of the house. By the time she came back, they had already gone, taking Tikka with them. This has left Vanilla inconsolable, and she frequently drinks to quiet the pain of her missing companion. Even the smallest reminder, like a specific hairdo, caused her to fall into a deep depression. She, along with the fellow members of her free company, the Radical Dreamers managed to rescue her from the clutches of her cultist kidnappers.
She has since grown as a person, becoming more mature and exploring relationships with others. She has helped in a variety of ways, from helping exorcise the company house to redecorating, and is now officially promoted to company quartermaster, responsible for managing the company finances and keeping Dreamers Central in good condition.
