Physique & Markings She stands short for a Highlander, but has a wiry and toned frame. She seems more dexterous than strong. Hygiene & Attire If she is working on some gun, magitek, or a ship engine, then likely she would appear much like a grease monkey, oil and grime on her face and fingers. If she is crawling around caverns and ruins looking for treasure, she is likely covered in dust and dirt. She does not seem to mind getting her hands dirty. But if she is found in a bar or in normal social circumstances, she is usually well cleaned and dressed. Personality Psychological Profile She comes off at a first glance as cocky and brash. Her flippant attitude often puts people off, which is how she keeps people at arm's length. Only a few have seen past this exterior, and those she trusts implicitly are even rarer. Philosophy & Mannerisms She lives on the reckless side of things, if it doesn't carry a risk, it is not worth doing. She can be goaded to act irrationally if people know what buttons to press. Despite making such mistakes in the past and coming to regret it later, Shael is more likely to act on her impulses rather than not. ● Daring - She hates cowardice, and if she felt that she was running away from something out of fear, it would be enough to make her do the exact opposite, even if it was not the wisest course. She however is not opposed to sneaking by hoard of enemies to get what she wanted, she isn't stupid.

Seventh Umbral Era Adulthood She made a name for herself within certain circles as a risk taking smuggler, mostly of garlean exports. She has worked for both private clients as well as occasionally associating herself with the Ala Mhigan Resistance. She has many acquaintances in the underworld due to this line of work, mostly with other smugglers, pirates, and thieves. (♦) - "Ro" Character's Thoughts: "I knocked her out the first time I saw her. Maybe I was trying to knock some sense into her from all the way back then. Since then I've come to call her friend... despite her stubbornness or because of it." Shael met this paladin when she took up a contract to help an old friend within the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Over the years, she has come to trust the free paladin's intentions, even if she remains critical of her idealism and drive to do good. Shael has maintained correspondence with her over the years, coming to her call when she was needed. It is only recently that Shael has not answered the paladin's letters, although she has read them all and knows that it was not a call for aid, but a concerned inquiry. Shael does not want to answer those questions at the present. Brynnalia Callae, Neutral. (●) - The Frenemy Character's Thoughts: "Knowing that in the end, she will only look out for one person, herself, I can't exactly dislike her for it. I'd do the same." Brynn and Shael met while they both worked with the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Shael left soon enough for her own reasons, only returning now and then to take freelance jobs at the behest of an old friend. Shael always saw Brynn as a self-serving kind of person, and it mystified her that she would be involved in an effort to free Gyr Abania. They acknowledged each other purely on a professional level over the years, sometimes finding themselves on the same side, and sometimes not. Delial Grimsong, Negative. (✖) - Kinslayer Character's Thoughts: "I will never trust her. I will never forgive her. I don't care what the others say. I will kill her." Shael was recruited into the Resistance by one man, Aylard Greyarm, and it was for him that she continued to take smuggling missions even after she left the cause. Then one day, his severed head was delivered in a box, a deed of the Kinslayer who was hunting down his sect. Shael has tried now multiple times to kill her, and yet every time, she has failed to finish the job. She is not sure why. Gharen Wolfsong, Somewhat Positive. (✔) - Lovesick Fool Character's Thoughts: "He tries to do good, but I can see there is viciousness in there somewhere. Also a fool." Shael first met this Highlander when an old friend that she admired greatly, touted him as a possible next leader of the Resistance. But that was years ago. Since, Shael has seen Wolfsong suffer, turn, and then ally himself with those who hunted the Resistance. Shael thought him a lost cause, until recently he called upon her to help the Resistance again. He still seems to have a weakness for a certain Kinslayer, so Shael can't rightfully call him an ally. Kiht Jakkya, Positive. (✔) - "Kiht-Kat" Character's Thoughts: "Ro trusts her with her life, she can't be that bad." Shael met this Keeper when she came to Roen's aid, more than once. She was one contact that Roen had no doubt about trusting with her life. Shael then worked with her while smuggling supplies into Gyr Abania and took a liking to her blunt and honest personality. She also respects her capable skills as a hunter and a tracker. Nabi Kharlu, Positive. (♦) - A Friend Character's Thoughts: "She's one of those that would hold an angry bee in her hand trying to sooth it, no matter if it stings her or not. She drives me nuts." Shael was in a desperate place when she encountered Nabi. And it led her to duping the Xaela, stealing from her, and also luring her out to the wildness and leaving her stranded. And yet despite all this, Nabi still came to her aid and tended to her broken arm and hand. Shael has tried to square the debt she feels she owes the Xaela, but finds herself always still feeling indebted and protective of the girl. She has even reluctantly admitted that Nabi is her friend. Shael would not be happy if someone rubbed this in her face, however. Tserende Valqirelle, Complicated. (�) - The Employer Character's Thoughts: "I thought he was... sod it. Who cares? Not me." To say that Shael's nature of association with this Ishgardian mercenary is complicated is an understatement. In retribution for stealing from his employer, Tserende tracked her down and broke her arm and fingers. She thought that would be the end of that, but later ended up accepting a job offer from him as a way to pay for various bills that were stacking up... and for her to have something to do while she was recovering, both from her injuries and the multitude of drugs she had put into her system. Since their rocky start, the two had developed a strange kind of friendship, one consisting mostly of snarky exchanges but with underlying trust. But recently, he left without much of an explanation, and it has left her irked and angry at him. Ghoa Mankhad, Neutral. (●) - The Poisonmaker Character's Thoughts: "Pretty face. Sweeter tongue. I can see how she gets by on that most of the time. But I suspect there are poisonous fangs hidden behind that smile somewhere." Shael came across Ghoa by the way of Nabi. The Xaela is another alchemist -- one who specializes in poison -- and while Shael's first impression was unfavorable, she decided to work with her for Nabi's sake and because she and Ghoa shared a same enemy. Shael still thinks Ghoa is a selfish woman, but she has never let that get in the way of doing business with her if opportunity arises. Marius Aventine, Neutral. (●) - The Engineer Character's Thoughts: "He's impressed me with his knowledge about magitek. Makes me wonder how he knows so much about it." Shael sought out Marius when Nabi was in danger and she needed an expert on magitek. She found him polite, intelligent, and a patient sort of man, which made her not like him at all. She did like the fact that he didn't ask too many questions though, when it came to helping Nabi; she appreciates discretion. She doesn't think she'll need his expertise in the future though, after all, she's pretty proficient herself. But she'll keep him in the back of her mind, just in case. Elam Grave, Negative. (✖) - The Contact Character's Thoughts: "If I never saw his face again, it would have been too soon." Shael's relationship with Elam is one of distrust and wariness. She has begrudgingly agreed to take him on as a client for just one thing that she wanted from him, a garlean gun. But he is now her only contact to obtain garlean weapons, since her previous contact was discovered and killed. She knows Elam from years past, having crossed paths with him within the Ala Mhigan Resistance and also dealing with Monetarist clients in Ul'dah. She always saw him as a self-serving and ambitious man but recent events have convinced her that he is a true threat to the safety and well-being of those she cares about. Despite her past relationship with the man, Shael worked with Tserende, Ghoa, Nabi, and Anchor to end his threat once and for all. Anchor Saltborn, Neutral. (●) - The Confederate Character's Thoughts: "If you cross blades with him, either kill him or die. He doesn't let you walk away." A business acquaintance, she encountered this Confederate pirate after trying to get around paying the Ruby Tithe. She finally ended paying it and they've dealt with other squarely, albeit in the most unfriendly fashion, ever since. He is a surly but professional fellow and she likes it that way. She has also witnessed his viciousness in battle, to the point of cruelty. She has made a note not to cross him and so far she has not had any reason to. But one thing she can't seem to wrap her mind around, is the compassion and protectiveness he showed towards Nabi. It is purely for her sake that she helped Saltborn out of his predicament with Elam Grave. Now that he is free, she fully expects him to stay malms away from Nabi and not bring his troubles into her life. Former Acquaintances Gideon North, Neutral. (●) - The Butler Character's Thoughts: "I hope he did some good for the trouble I went through to get him hired by the Monetarists. I nearly lost an ear for that." It was at Roen's behest that Shael brought this mild mannered butler to Brynnalia's attention, heaping praises on him as her close associate. It got him to be hired by the then influential monetarist, Jameson Taeros. It was all a ruse to help Roen investigate the corruption in Ul'dah at the time. She has lost contact with the man since. Deceased Thaliak's Axe, Positive. (♦✝) - "Shooey" Character's Thoughts: "He didn't have to die." Shael and Shooey's relationship goes back for almost 20 years. He has been her best friend for as long as she could remember, and the first mate to her ship, The Peregrine. He was her grounding force, her moral compass, her sounding board. She was the only one that seemed to comprehend the various murmurs and growls that rose from his tongueless mouth, often carrying a full conversation with the Roegadyn. He lost his life recently in the Ala Mhigan conflict. Aylard Greyarm, Positive. (♦✝) - "Old man" Character's Thoughts: "I will avenge his death, someday. Somehow." Aylard is the only person Shael ever truly considered family. He took her in when she ran away from home, and gave her a purpose. The wise and determined Highlander was part of the Ala Mhigan Resistance when she met him, and she took up his cause readily. She later discovered that she had her own emotional issues that were made worse by the violence that was prevalent in their Garlean confrontations, so she left. She always maintained her loyalty to Aylard and often returned to the Resistance to help him at his bidding. He died at the hands of a Kinslayer five years ago.

IC Inventory The following items are things that this individual carries on their person at all times. These are noted for pickpockets, and those watching her closely. This information is meant to be a prompt for insight and is not to be meta-gamed, though feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in RP (pickpocketing, a search, etc) with use of a simple /tell. ■ Coinpurse: A simple coin purse made of soft leather, containing a few hundred gil. ■ A custom-made gun: A well made gun that upon closer inspection has all sorts of magitek additions to it is holstered on her back. ■ A metal pack: A metal pack that hums quietly, hangs to the side of her hip. It has a small interface upon it but is unlit when not activated. RP Limits I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. RP Hooks While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content. ■ She is a skilled smuggler. You might have heard of her. She was mostly known for her ability to smuggle things in and out of Garlemald, mostly weapons and such, but rarely even people. ■ She worked with Nero Lazarov when he used to raid the Monetarists. While she kept her involvement in that under the table, a few in the know might have heard of it. ■ She had an on-again and off-again relationship with the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Her most involvement was when the big push was being made against Castrum Abania. After some heavy casualties take there, she was not seen again by the member of the Resistance. ■ A few Brass Blades knows who she is. She has bribed them in the past to get out of the gaol. ■ She has visited Kugane multiple times in the past, some Hingan merchants seem to recognize her face, especially if they peddle alcohol.
