Personality
A curious mind, Jeannot has always been absorbed in the texts of the Enchiridion and the practices of the Arcanist sect. He has prided himself in his work, and made his due place in society not as an aristocrat or socialite as his father or mother have, but as a learned individual with a capacity for the supernal. Because of his studiousness, the man has never truly broached the subject of social behavior, and as such may come off a bit skittish or even dismissive of idle talk. Learning to speak as a colleague has pushed forth from him the certain curtness that may have come from such anti-social behavior, but talk outside of work may be met with nothing other than confusing and/or vague rhetoric in response.

A wallflower by countenance alone, Jean is not one to approach people. He finds pleasure in watching: an observation of the world around him left to be archived within the stores of his mind. Many consider this a lonely existence: and Jean does not disprove or argue that sentiment. He is a lonely individual, and those that can be found close to him are kept close and guarded...but this has its faults: his child-like understanding of interpersonal relationships has him grasping for strings that at times have been cut or let loose, and he yearns for the days past where that friendship blossomed fruitfully.
Jeannot is finally learning to come out of his shell a bit, but at what cost?
Rumors
"It's a shame, really, that his father insists on decrying his worth. He is a scholarly man, but the traditions of the House have become far more important to Lord Fondebrodeur than the happiness of his own son." Archombadin of the Scholasticate
"Jeannot? Oh-.. he's really smart. Like.. really smart! He knows so many big words! I think he's one of them people I could talk to for hours, an' still have thousands of questions to ask. I feel like he's got so many stories to tell, an' he tells them with such grace! He's very kind, though I think he might be just a bit too hard on himself sometimes. I hope he'll come by the Elysium again soon. He was lovely to spend time with. I feel like I'm gonna learn plenty from him." Etani'a Sedi
"Rumor goes here." Name goes here.
Relationships

Acquaintance     Friend     Love Interest     Enemy

Raeventiel Beaudonet - THE SPEAR

A colleague of the Scholasticate, Jeannot met Rae during one of his returns to Foundation. A conversation and a few jests later, and somehow Jeannot has landed himself tutelage under Raeventiel in hopes that the man can knock some social sense into the poor bookworm. Raeventiel introduced Jeannot to Vaughn and Duroxas, and at the very least successfully integrated him into that small social network. However, an attempt to broaden his horizons set him back another two steps-- He doesn't hold it against Rae, but Jean simply wishes he could be like him. To be friends with people of all different flavors, so to speak.

Morrigan Beaudonet - THE EWER

The twin of Raeventiel and quite possibly his polar opposite! Morrigan is an irritable, hot-headed ex-knight who takes to drink to calm the ghosts of his past. Very lively: like the flames of a fire, he's spent many a' days passing side-long criticism at Jeannot and making well to cause spats betwixt the two of them with his stubborn and self-centered thinking. It was only after an argument that nearly turned to assault that the two better learned to understand and cope with one another. Morrigan is currently a contracted guard of the Professor during his stay outside of Ishgard, but first and foremost is his loyal friend.

Vaughn Antain - THE SPEAR

Raeventiel's betrothed. Jeannot doesn't have much of an impression of the man at current, other than that he's very comfortable with his Scholasticate colleague. He feels a bit bad, however, to know that the man has no recollection of his past other than small fragments scattered throughout his mind. As a researcher, he feels the need to delve into this further: but as a man, he feels that it's a subject better left to silence. Vaughn seemed to be the only one present to understand Jeannot's struggle with societal integration, and calmed the man down from his near panicked state. He has a much broader respect for him, and to say the least finds the most support in him as a sole individual.

Duroxas Quel'ivan

A friend of Raeventiel's. Besides making a total ass of himself in front of Duro, Jeannot finds the Miqo'te male to be enjoyable company for the most part, if not solely because of his quiet, reserved demeanor. If not for the fact that Jeannot was fairly buzzed when he actually got to talk one on one with his newfound friend, he may have been able to spend more time observing rather than blabbing away about research regarding his familiar condition: amnesia, just as Vaughn had admitted. He doesn't know much about Duroxas because of this, but he does know that the man seems oddly adamant on keeping his distance from other males...

Ranirus Crithalos - THE SPIRE

Another friend of Raeventiel's. A crash and short individual, the miqo'te made no good impressions on Jeannot; In fact, quite the opposite! Ranirus drove Jean to the point of breaking, treating him the way his father often did, which is a surefire way to make the poor man collapse into unerring, abysmal anxiety. He does feel as if something might be the cause for the spikey exterior. After the series of events leading to Jeannot's anxiety, the man's emotional capacity completely went haywire, and his numbness to emotional stimuli granted him the ignorance to stand up to Ranirus' words. He was presented with a bead, told to hold onto it....and was warned about what the Fates had in store for both Ranirus, and potentially Jeannot himself. Ranirus' lack of faith in the Stars as a means of divining the lives of those around him leaves a sour taste in the Elezen's mouth.

Tufh'to Ananke - THE BALANCE

What an...interesting individual! Not quite as emphatic as Raeventiel, but definitely just as bright and cheery, 'Tuft' has caught Jeannot's eye as the sunny type. There are a lot of things Jeannot doesn't quite understand about Tuft and it might be better left that way. The boy seems to be afraid of hounds, but given what Jeannot learned about his past: it's no wonder. He seems to be doing alright on his own now, at the very least, and the success of his friends is elating enough for him.

I'rinha Tia - THE EWER

Tuft's lover, or so Jeannot gathered. The male wasn't quite impressionable until the subject of the 'Stars' had arisen, and of course the researcher himself could not hold back the ramblings of an overly-exuberant and curious mind. It was thanks to Rinha's impressionable nature that the man was able to finally get a reaction from the Astrolabe: the first ever drawing of one of those Cards of Fate. He intends to credit Rinha in his next thesis as an honorable mentions.

Vera Tala - THE ARROW

An interesting woman who has the companionship of a wolf-dog named Cheza. Jeannot's feelings for Vera have become very complicated: star-crossed love mixed with duty to a friend. Vera is the only woman Jeannot has ever gotten close to, and that makes her as dangerous for him as a sharpened blade. She is a pariah in this world, from what he understands, and that makes it only duly so in Ishgard. It has led to a lot of torn, complicated emotions and time spent running away from her to pursue other endeavors as means to distraction. He's not seen her in quite sometime, and he feels as if its for the best. Would he be able to tell her that he could no longer go on like they were?

Etani'a Sedi -

The "Jewel of the Elysium," Etani'a has always been seen as a beautiful and striking individual in Jeannot's eyes. He is graceful, feminine, petite--- all qualities which the professor didn't think could exist in the masculine. He promised to help teach the courtesan, and in the process began to learn more about him--- about his past, and about eachother. He began to fall for him, to the point that he would so selflessly do anything for the man if it meant even his own life. But his self-worth and esteem constantly leave him thinking: ....is he good enough?

His Story
Jeannot is the first and only son of the House Fondebrodeur, a smaller, less noble house headed by Armand Fondebrodeur: a renowned tailor and aristocrat within Ishgard's ranks. Related lengthily to House Durendaire, it was only natural that the distant cousins of this great House would be allowed lands and royalties befitting of their blood. It was upon the birth of the young Jeannot that his father would task him in the footsteps of all the Durendaire House men before him: to become a dragoon under the just and righteous guidance of Halone and her chosen advocates. This was not so. The heir to Fondebrodeur's somewhat unimportant legacy had instead taken to the pen: finding his place and interests in the Arcanist writ and Ishgardian sacrosanct laws. He has not founded much loss or struggle in his life, but does well to prefer a life without the luxuries of his name: instead working for his keep and dressing in much more comfortable accordance to the role of a scholarly gent. The only problem? Jeannot is no scholar. He has learned many things, written many articles and books, but if any were to ask him to physically enact the findings of his research: he would fall short. The man has never picked up the pen and parchment of the Arcanist, never healed the wounds of the ill or augmented the strength of the Ishgardian force.

His learned ways had not gone without merit; The Athenaeum Astrologicum found out about his ability to perceive and commit such archaic texts to memory. He was no figure of disgust or scandal, and as such was the perfect candidate to distribute and discuss the mystical ways of the Sharlayan practice of Astrologians. Ishgardian Forces had already seen the benefits to the practice of the Astrologicum on the Dravanian front...so why not further that ambitiousness? Jannequinard was forced to seek out the nobleman by order of Leveva herself (because he was not much reliable in any other function: the man was a terrible astrologian!,) the conversation that occurred between the two men was simply thus: Janne made his offer, Jean replied with incoherent muttering, and was thrown an astrolabe and given Good Tidings.

Well then.
