Basic Info

Mia Sasano was born under the sign of Thaliak, the Scholar, on the 8th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon. A foreigner, she hails from a nation far to the east called Arcycira. To strangers, she can appear cold and stern, yet is polite to all. To friends, one could not ask for a more loyal and understanding ally. Honesty and balance are values she holds above all else, very seldomly straying from the path of truth unless it is absolutely required. She can often be found meditating along the rocks of Mist Beach in the mornings and evenings. Her grasp of Eorzea's common language is not perfect, so sometimes she speaks in a long winded manner (without contractions or common slang), not really sure how to word some things otherwise.

History

Mia was born in a small nation far to the east of Eorzea, called Arcycira, a nation which prides itself on honesty and balance in all things. As such, she was born into a society and household that followed the same values, leading her to adopt meditation from an early age. Her childhood was a fairly peaceful one, since the nation was more or less free of corruption and scandals. However, during her early teenage years, the country began taking a turn for the worst. A new generation of youths would rise up, not wishing to follow the old traditions. Eventually, this group would rise up against the government, plunging the tiny nation into a civil war. For several years, the country would remain divided equally as both sides attempted to establish control, but in the end, the rebels would begin to gain the upper hand.

Now nearing the end of her teenage years, Mia's family grew the desire to leave their beloved homeland behind, in the hopes that they might move to another land where they might continue practicing the traditions their people had upheld for dozens of generations. On the day that the Sasano family was getting ready to leave, however, they were ambushed by a group of rebel soldiers, and only Mia managed to make it out alive. She discovered that she had a natural affinity for the dark arts, unleashing her raw fury in the form of Fire against the group. Having little time to bury the dead and escape, she secured passage on the first ship leaving the nation. It was bound for Eorzea, where she would begin her life anew, alone. After many months at sea, Mia arrived in Limsa Lominsa, but she did not stay in the mighty capital for very long, finding the atmosphere and citizenry not what she was looking for. She wandered for a time, eventually coming to the Twelveswood, and subsequently, Gridania. The citizens seemed mistrusting of her, and almost hostile. However, she began to help out where she could, trying to etch out a living, having no home to go back to anymore. Eventually, Dalamud fell upon Eorzea, and Mia Sasano disappeared from the records for a time. During this time, Mia decided that she should learn to control her untapped potential, and rediscovered the importance of meditation, and honing her black magic skills.

She then reappeared in Ul'dah, having decided to travel to see for herself what the people were like, and perhaps do a bit of adventuring along the way. Not really being familiar with the desert city, she headed into The Quicksand, the local pub and Adventurers' Guild, where she came across Oksana Vankraft. This Miqo'te gave her directions and assisted Mia with a few concerns she had. Over time, Mia came to grow fond of Ul'dah almost as much as she did Gridania, and spent much time there, trying to aid the refugees when few others would. She aided them not with coin, but with basic tasks, if only to make their lives a little easier. The inn in the Quicksands became her new home for a time, and thus she had the chance to speak with Oksana (nicknamed "V") quite often. They quickly grew into good friends, and though they enjoyed each other's company, Mia left the city for a time to continue adventuring. When next they met, V had joined the Light Crusaders, a free company, and offered Mia a chance to join them, which she did. Having saved up enough gil, she went to their headquarters in Mist, and moved herself in, thus having a new permanent home. However, it was not to last. The company's goals and her own were no longer in alignment, and thus Mia decided to take her leave, with no hard feelings towards anyone. Now a wanderer again, she wondered what will become of herself in the future.

Mia has since joined her 'brother', Gen, at his new company's house, in the Goblet. In the time between wandering and joining her brother, Mia self-studied basic swordplay, and how she might apply or enchant melee weapons with elemental aether, but her experiments have not yet yielded results in this area.

Current Relationships

Gen Quickpaw: A Miqo'te met some time after Mia joined the Light Crusaders. At first, she did not approach Gen often or at all, but one day they spoke of magic versus fists, and since then, the two gradually hit it off. When Oksana became cursed, Gen was one of the first to join in and assist with breaking it, causing Mia to see Gen as a great ally and friend, beginning to chat with him more. Since then, the two often confide in each other. Mia considers him to be a brother to her, and calls him as such, regardless of their bloodlines having no relation.

Past Relationships (those who have perished or have not spoken to Mia in a long time)

Oksana Vankraft: A Miqo'te Mia met in Ul'dah. The two became fast friends (and Mia's first true friend in Eorzea), and in recent times, was aided by Mia to break a curse on her, which she received from a slash wound, caused by a cused dagger. At one point, Mia had a romantic interest in Oksana, but after her sudden disappearance, Mia now believes she fell in battle, or otherwise lost her life, since it has been many moons since a letter or any other form of communication from her has come. Due to this, Mia purchased a headstone for her in Eastern Thanalan, where she unofficially laid V to rest, at the Church of Saint Adama Landama..

Yorric Lesh: An Elezen pirate that Mia met when she joined the Light Crusaders. She had heard all of the rumours, but being true to her people's ways, she decided to dig deeper and find out the truth about the man. Since then, he has lent her his ear, and axe, on more than one occasion. As a result, he has become a friend to her. Much like Oksana, Yorric disappeared suddenly, presumably to go find his missing wife, but Mia hasn't heard or seen hide nor hair of him since.

Irion Dinaan: An Elezen doctor whom Mia often refers to as "Doctor", out of respect. At first, she was initially cold towards the man, especially after her seemingly shrugged her off during a conversation, much to her annoyance. Once Oksana's curse befell her, the doctor was one of the first to come to V's aid, caring for the wound she suffered from the cursed dagger. During these times, Mia took the chance to get to know Irion better, and eventually began confiding in him as well, especially after she herself suffered an axe wound whilst tracking down Oksana's assailant.

Star Flicker: Gen Quickpaw's former girlfriend, and an acquaintance of Mia's. They first met when Mia was visiting Gen in his chambers one day, though the two females did not exchange many words, due to Mia feeling as if she was intruding. Mia hopes to learn more about Flick sometime, though the two don't seem to cross paths often.

Vanilla Wayfarer: Known as "Cookie" to most of her friends, and a white mage, Mia came across Vanilla during general everyday life in the Light Crusaders' house. Mia has not seen Vanilla since the abduction of Tikka Swift.

Mimiko Miyuki: A popular Miqo'te that Mia first met at the Light Crusaders' house. She showed up on one of their week's end bar nights, and Mia kept her company for a while. The two rarely saw each other after that, but since Mia's exodus from the house, she seems to bump into Mimi much more often. The two have since become friends, though they are still relatively unfamiliar with one another.

Notes

-She has an accent similar to Tali'Zorah from the Mass Effect series.
