Rhin Str'iden "Well, this should be interesting..." About
Hair Color: Black streaked with Silver Eye Color: Crimson Red Height: 5 fulms, 11 ilms Weight: 181 ponzes Rhin is tall for a Midlander Hyur man and in excellent physical shape as befits one used to strenuous work. While not as bulky as his distant Highlander cousins his lean athletic frame is sheathed in wiry muscle under his tanned skin, only occasionally marred by several scars here and there. He keeps his short hair cut to a manageable length, though it annoys him that it tends to highlight the ever-present silver streaks which makes him appear even older than he actually is. The stubble of a fast-growing beard rims his chin and Rhin has long since given up on trying to keep clean-shaven every day. Aside from the thin line of scars from an unfortunate training accident crossing his cheek and the bridge of his nose the other facial feature of note Rhin bears are his crimson colored eyes, atypical for someone of his apparent heritage. Typical Garb: In his casual outgoing garb Rhin favors outfits typical of the seafaring crews of his home nation, usually consisting of trousers tucked into tall leather boots along with a loose fitting shirt and/or vest adorned with sashes and pockets for stashing small items and tools of the trade. At home in his own quarters he will settle for a simple loosely belted robe and comfortable pants to lounge around in. Preferred Arms and Armor: Rhin is an expert spearman due to his training and thus favors polearms as his weapon of choice going into a fight, but he recognizes the disadvantages of the weapon in close quarters combat such as below decks or within the corridors of enemy strongholds. As such he has also practiced in the use of the paired blades said to have been the tool of choice for the so called "Upright Thieves" that once lurked among the Lominsan pirate crews, and he usually carries an assortment of knives stashed about his person at almost all times. After a stint working in Ishgard's shadow he has also begun training himself in the use of the Ishgardian greatsword, finding the oversized blade useful for especially stubborn foes while being less unwieldily than the traditional Lomisnan broadaxe. During his time with the Maelstrom he favored the reinforced leather and scale armor of the Maelstrom Elites for it's balance of toughness and unhindered mobility, but lately he has begun using the strange otherworldly armor left to him by his master for greater protection and other benefits.

Yvenalise Tachibana ●
Glowfly Exchange Rhin's new employer at the Glowfly Exchange after having been dismissed from Lyriah's Oschon's Respite Inn. Rhin was encouraged to apply for a job with Tachi's company by his fellow exiled inn mates and was fortunately hired on as a general contractor, leveraging his various skills in the Glowfly Exchange's business dealings. When the Exchange secured a slightly-used facility outside of Gridania for a headquarters, Rhin took it upon himself to utilize his experience working at Miqo'TEK to get the run-down workshop out back up and running again and now he helps oversee a small but growing fleet of airships flying under the Glowfly banner.
Siffa Terjehildr ≈
--- A mysterious woman from the region of Abalathia's Spine, Rhin came to know her when she arrived to inform him of the passing of a mutual friend. They remained in contact as Rhin was one of the few people she was acquainted with in the lowlands and Rhin often provided her with advice on relating to the strange people she was now living among. Through a series of circumstances that ultimately ended up with Rhin ending up in Siffa's bed, their relationship has both progressed and become somewhat awkward with neither really sure on how to proceed.
Seina Horo ●
Glowfly Exchange A thief caught by Admiah and Rhin stealing a freshly-cleaned set of clothing from a clothesline outside their inn, Seina was quick to offer her services to the inn in exchange for not being handed over to the authorities. Displaying an unusual acumen for record keeping and paperwork, she soon set herself up as Rhin's unofficial secretary both to his annoyance and secret relief that he wouldn't need to be bogged down with administrative work anymore. While Rhin values her work ethic and addictive Au'ri baking skills, he has to be careful not to let her know too much about the extent of his work lest he be forced to make a tricky decision.
Feral Ren ●
SMS Wyzn(?) An old-ish Maelstrom officer sent to Rhin to be briefed on a new posting, upon their first meeting she mentioned how much of a striking resemblance he had to a former subordinate of hers named Shurin. After promising Rhin that she would share stories of her time serving with Shurin first in the Eorzean Guard and then the Maelstrom when she returned, she set off to the northlands on her mission to find a missing SMS team. Ren has not been seen or heard from since.
Admiah Kreiston ●
Glowfly Exchange A young courier that Rhin encountered outside of Maelstrom Command, he was impressed by her eagerness to get out into the world and become an adventurer like her elder sister. To that end he made arrangements for her to move to his inn outside Gridania and begin training at the Wailing Barracks. Though quick to pick up new skills and always up to face a new challenge, the way her demeanor changes when she's around her roommate Miah gives Rhin some pause for concern.
Miah Lyehga ●
Glowfly Exchange A former resident of the inn Rhin once helped operate outside of Gridania, Rhin gave high praise for the stories and songs Miah the Bard brought to the establishment. However much to his dismay he soon discovered that she too had experimental tendencies much like some other former residents of the inn, and like those other Miqo'te Miah favored using Rhin as a test subject for her 'innocent' alchemical dabbling. Regardless, Rhin came to her aid without hesitation during an incident involving Miah's troubled past. However as a result of directly confronting the Voidsent entity at the cause of the troubles Rhin's aetheric balance has been permanently shifted, though this does enable him some limited aetheric manipulation ability.
Mana Shikibu ●
SMS Sylb A Doman Shinobi in the employ of the Maelstrom, Mana is a member of the group assigned to keep watch over Eastern Eorzea. Trained alongside Rhin during their indoctrination into the reformed SMS division. While Rhin and R'urika work more visible and out in the open roles, Mana and her partner Rouka usually shadow them and keep watch. Rhin values her cool and collected demeanor as a calming presence on the team, but has learned to stay very clear of her should her limbal rings become visible. Currently on a high-priority mission into Garlean-controlled Doman territory.
Rouka Hori ●
SMS Sylb A Doman Shinobi in the employ of the Maelstrom, Rouka is a member of the group assigned to keep watch over Eastern Eorzea. Trained alongside Rhin during their indoctrination into the reformed SMS division. While Rhin and R'urika work more visible and out in the open roles, Rouka and her partner Mana usually work unseen until the moment comes to strike. Hot-headed and impatient, Rouka is more likely to stab first and ask questions after the explosions have died down but R'urika and Mana usually keep her in line. Currently on a high-priority mission into Garlean-controlled Doman territory.
Xenedra Ambreaus ●
Soliloquy Tavern / Wilde Jagd An occasional business associate of Rhin's and proprietress of the Soliloquy Tavern, the fiery tavernkeep often lends an ear to Rhin's troubles and gives him hell for it in exchange. A completely one-sided arrangement to be sure, yet Rhin finds talking with the world-wise woman oddly comforting and is grateful for her adivce.
Lyriah Karnelle ≈
--- Rhin's former companion and lover, and former comrade-in-arms of Shurin Mizune. Rhin was entrusted to her care by his master after her remote residence was discovered by Shurin following the Battle of Carteneau. Rhin and Lyriah lived together in the Dravanian wilds for five years before their peaceful life was interrupted by a crashing airship. With some reluctance, she accompanied Rhin when they were given the opportunity to travel on the repaired airship to Limsa and were subsequently stranded in the civilization she had left five years prior. Eventually settled near Gridania with Rhin and Miqo'TEK, and eventually was given ownership of the small inn they had been working out of when Aylis and Almaz set off on a new journey. However after a time she grew unsatisfied with life in the new Eorzea and following an argument with the tenants of the inn she departed for parts unknown.
Almaz Khaltamze ●
Miqo'TEK Engineering A former comrade of Rhin's master prior to the 6th Calamity and the technical genius behind the Miqo'TEK duo. When the airship carrying Almaz and her partner Aylis away from Ishgard was sabotaged and crash-landed in the lake near the remote Dravanian cabin he shared with Lyriah Karnelle, Rhin was able to assist them with returning the vessel to flightworthy status. He gladly took them up on their offer to bring both him and Lyriah along on their voyage back to Limsa Lominsa so they could see how the world had changed since the Calamity, but unfortunately for them they were unaware of the new Garlean presence on Vylbrand and were shot out of the sky on the approach to Limsa Lominsa. With their ride home destroyed Almaz offered to have Rhin and Lyriah join their new engineering company, with the quartet eventually settling into a location just outside Gridania.
Aylis Tessier ●
Miqo'TEK Engineering Another former comrade of Rhin's master prior to the 6th Calamity. Aylis is the idea-maker behind the Miqo'TEK duo, though it seems she considers the end results of her sometimes-questionable ideas to be more important than the details of getting to said results. After she and Almaz returned to Eorzea and opened their engineering concern, she adopted a fledgling dodo named Wheezy who became the bane of Rhin's existence during his time living with them. Wheezy would often use Rhin's personal effects as nesting material and would also leave Rhin tokens of its affection in the form of hazardous waste products, leading Rhin to develop a strong dislike of dodokind to this day.
Deirdre Ta'ea ≈
--- Deirdre Ta'ea was a woman who was very close Rhin's master in the period shortly before the 6th Calamity. Shortly after Rhin's arrival in Eorzea he encountered this woman at the ruins of Shurin Mizune's former residence, whereupon she attacked Rhin mistaking him for a common looter. After settling that misunderstanding and learning that Rhin was Shurin's new proxy in Eorzea she demanded to speak with Shurin directly, which was something initially beyond Rhin's capabilities. However after some through research Rhin was able to find a means to allow Shurin's essence to temporarily co-inhabit Rhin's body. Rhin is unaware of the details of the meeting between Deirdre and Shurin, but when he awoke his body had sustained signifigant injuries and he saw Deirdre being carried away from the ritual site by her companion. He has not seen or heard from Deirdre since.
R'urika Sahiri ●
SMS Sylb / Liminality A mysterious Miqo'te woman who claims to know Rhin's master, she has an uncanny knack for being around whenever Rhin needs backup. She never stays around for long, and it seems she knows a lot more than she's letting on. She assists Rhin with running Sylb team, collecting reports from their observers and acting as liaison between the unit and Maelstrom Command when Rhin is otherwise unavailable to do so.
Fuyuki Tsukima ●
--- "Fuyuki Tsukima" is the name currently being used by this long-time acquaintance of Rhin's master, Shurin Mizune. While Rhin is only vaguely aware of the exact details of their relationship, he has strict orders to obey any command she gives should she decide to give any and to not interfere with any of her work. She is also the only other person Rhin is aware of that is capable of contacting Shurin, though the arcane arts she uses to do so are far beyond Rhin's comprehension.
Shurin Mizune ●
Liminality Shurin Mizune is Rhin's Master in several senses of the word. With Shurin unable to leave the Liminality unmanned in it's current state after the events of the 6th Calamity, he has sent Rhin to Eorzea in his stead to both act as a living aetheric linkage as well as to see and experience the world that he never got a chance to truly experience during his short time there. Leaving Rhin with a wealth of knowledge gained from his own lifetimes of experience as well as some equipment from the Liminality's stores, he withdrew to the ancient vessel as to not interfere with Rhin's existence.
