Vesportrait.png

Tall and possessed of the long limbs typical of her kind, Vesette's are filled out with a small amount of wiry muscle. Her skin is naturally pale, though with relocating to Thanalan she is more often spotted with either a tan or a very prominent sunburn. The light brown hair she keeps tied away from her face would hang to her shoulders otherwise. It appears choppy and a bit askew. She has no use for makeup, the only markings on her face tend to be grease stains she wiped on her cheek with a glove. Her expression is often very dreamy or sweet, which makes her appear younger than her years. It can quickly switch to inspired and intense when she finds something that interests her, the change often a bit jarring. Her eyes are a dark blue-violet color. Often covered by goggles, even when visible they are not extremely telling, holding a soft look in them regularly.

Scars & Markings: She bears the history of a life spent around craftspeople and machines. Vesette has cuts, nicks, and small burn scars present on her arms, upper back and shoulders. While none of these are particularly noteworthy, they give an overall appearance of a person who has spent more time in a workshop than anywhere else. It's also not uncommon to see Vesette with notes, formulas, or other little tidbits of information scrawled on her hands and forearms. To her, sometimes going to get paper takes too long.

Voice: Currently, she doesn't have a voice claim. Vacillating between spacey and inspired, Vesette's voice is mostly comprised of gentle, even tones. The pitch of her voice is a bit on the higher side. She rarely, if ever shouts or gets aggressive with how she speaks.

Clothing: A fashionista, she is not. Her clothes are often practical- heavy cloth and leather preferred by craftspeople and engineers. She has a variety of working aprons, tunics, and combat attire for a machinist. The majority of these pieces are in greys and browns. Most of her clothes are stained with grease and oil. The most frequently worn item she has are the silver and red machinist's goggles constantly perched on her head.

Combat Ability

.
Marksmanship

Trained at the Skysteel Manufactory in the use of carbines and similar firearms, Vesette is adept at shooting. She's only been using firearms for a few years and so has a long way to go to master them.
Vesette also knows how to use Ishgardian artillery, having spent more time on dragonkillers and cannons than she'll ever readily admit. With a little prodding, she can get those weapons firing in most cases too.

Gadgets

Along with her guns, Vesette often comes to mercenary jobs armed with explosives and no shortage of gadgets stashed either in pockets or the packs on her belt. Only some of these are likely safe for use in battle.
Her aetherotransformer, one of the implements of Ishgardian machinists, is much more reliable. Her constant companion on jobs, its use is for autoturrets and bolstering her allies where needed.

Field Medic

A marginal substitute for an aether using healer in a fight, she can triage and deal with non-serious injuries. She's especially adept at dealing with combat wounds.
In the worst case scenarios, she has the knowledge to try keeping someone alive long enough to get them to an actual practitioner of healing arts.

Trades

.
Engineering

Engineering became Vesette's career thanks to her natural gift for mechanics. Joining the machinists at Skysteel Manufactory only intensified the rate at which she picked up knowledge and started experimenting with her own ideas.
She's mostly versed in Ishgardian design and more traditional sorts of engineering. Growing up around the Brume, her exposure to magitek and anything that inspired it was fairly limited. It's an area she's hoping to learn more of on her travels through the realm.

Carpentry

Vesette got into tradeskills through carpentry- one of the first things she ever made was a toy for a family friend's daughter. She has the most experience with it, having been underfoot as a curious servant's daughter in House Dzemael's workshops since she was a girl.
She especially likes to build things for homes and families. It makes her happy to see her skills being used for something other than weapons and armor, so she tends to do a lot of domestic building with her knowledge.

Smithing

Eager to build on what her mentor back in Ishgard taught her, Vesette's spent a lot of time in forges and shops around Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah, relying on the kindness of patient tradespersons to pick up more of the craft.
She's focused primarily on armorsmithing and gunsmithing. Forging other weapons doesn't hold her interest for long at all.

NPC

Gillefort Dairemont ( ) ( NPC ) - Papa
Gille encouraged her quirky habits and often diverted her from her mother's harping. Vesette's adoration for her father was boundless, much like her grief has been in the years since his death in Coerthas while searching for a lost patrol.
Yvanne Dairemont ( ) ( NPC ) - Mother Dear
Vesette is the polar opposite of her pious, dutiful mother. They have never had much for common ground. Her mother's vehement disapproval of Vesette's decision to join Skysteel Manufactory was the final wedge that estranged them, and they have yet to reconcile. She endeavors to avoid her mother at every opportunity.
Laurette Dairemont ( ) ( NPC ) - The Hero Sister
Laure was Vesette's eldest sister and her idol. She aspired to follow her path into a life of danger and adventure rather than the weaving and servitude their mother had planned. Despite their 5 year age difference, the two got along brilliantly as children. When she was killed two years after joining the temple knights, Vesette was devastated.
Marisane Hourlinet ( ) ( NPC ) - The Dull Sister
Marisane is the sister that she drops in to see for an afternoon when she's home and then doesn't visit again. The two don't have any particular animosity, they are just so different they have nothing to talk about. Mari works for a minor noble house as a weaver and servant, has married and is raising two rambunctious boys, all parts of life Vesette has no interest in. She's closer with her nephews, who she regales with stories of her adventures in Thanalan.
Andrine Aubaints ( ) ( NPC ) - The Unlucky Sister
Practical and often pessimistic, it would appear Ves and Andi had issues thanks to their starkly different views of the world. Where Ves is quick to befriend and help, Andi scolds her for trusting too easily. She does a lot more harping on her than Mari does overall, which annoys her to no end. Despite their outward differences and Andi's tendency to mother her, she is Ves' closest living family member. Andi lives a difficult life in Ishgard, raising her young son with no help from her estranged husband. Ves sends a lot of the money she earns back there along with gifts for her nephew, trying to make what little difference she can in her sister's life. The rest of their family has given up on her- that Ves persists in helping has kept Andi close to her.
Odilonmont Maurel ( ) ( NPC ) - The Mentor
A carpenter in service to House Dzemael who Vesette regularly pestered as a girl. She often annoyed him to teach her and tried to sneak into the workshop. Despite his outward irritation, he found her persistence charming. Odile took Vesette under his wing after her father's death and taught her the basics of both smithing and carpentry on her trips to the house's workshops as a girl. Along with his two sons, he gave her what little formal education she has and helped her get hired on at Skysteel Manufactory. She views him as her second father. He regularly receives letters and packages from her since she departed Ishgard to travel Eorzea.

PC

Shou Lushan ( ) ( PC ) - The Boss
Vesette views her as her boss among the Roadhouse crew. Her opinion of Shou is that she's adorable, relatable, and a hell of a lot of fun to be around. Shou's ancient armor fascinates her, and her boss' stories and shenanigans are of interest to her. She'll usually drop what she's doing to go on a job with her, knowing it'll be exciting and she'll probably learn something, two things Vesette adores.
Draymon Daystar ( ) ( PC ) - The Wanderer
Her first meeting with Draymon and Zhena both was rescuing them from a vicious coeurl matriarch that the two had tried taking on. While she finds him nice, she also doesn't know him all that well. Her interactions with him have often left her mystified as to what exactly he's doing with himself and why. She's mulled asking him those questions, if she could only get him to sit still for more than 10 minutes at a time.
Eaubront Shopont ( ) ( PC ) - The Charmer
Her only interactions with him have been brief, though he's part of the Roadhouse gang, and Ehfi seems to see him very favorably so Vesette's of the mind he's a good one. His charm stuck out when she's been around him- she still gets embarrassed when she recalls completely missing being flirted with. She wants to befriend him.
Ehfi Rhinsu ( ) ( PC ) - The Mender
A person Vesette will readily call her friend. She doesn't feel her social awkwardness is a problem for Ehfi. She thinks that Ehfi may be the one person she might be able to confide in about all those pesky feelings she keeps having about various things since she left home.
Godric Wright ( ) ( PC ) - The Enigma
The member of the Roadhouse gang that Vesette is certain is hiding at least five different things. She doesn't hold it against him, since he complimented her demolition skills and has treated her very nicely since her arrival. She keeps telling herself he has a good reason for concealing whatever it is that's not common knowledge. Vesette's choosing to believe he's an ally since he's demonstrated such to her on numerous occasions.
Josiah Covey ( ) ( PC ) - The Idealist
How Josiah is still alive is a question Vesette has poured a lot of theorizing into over tea. Of all the people at the Roadhouse, she worries most for his sanity as he appears to lack any kind of self-preservation instinct. She respects that he is uncompromising in his morals and beliefs. She also thinks that his desire to protect others is honorable, though it concerns her, too. Seeing the negative reactions a few of the others at the Roadhouse have to him has also given her pause. Is the well-meaning fellow Ishgardian hiding something? Regardless, her feelings remain on the positive side of ambivalent.
T'zhena Gao ( ) ( PC ) - The Beauty
Savvy and educated in many the ways Vesette is clueless, Zhena would be a fascinating person to ask a lot of questions of, Vesette often thinks. In the wayward bard, she sees someone who basically has a manual for people, which leaves her with a very awed feeling. While the two are likely polar opposites in most things, Vesette respects and appreciates those kinds of people very much as they offer the most for her to learn.
Virara Wakuwa ( ) ( PC ) - The Hungry
Her interaction with Virara has been brief- what she has seen is the martial artist either pounding things into unrecognizable mush or eating large amounts of food, and not much else. Virara's talent for both was quite intriguing, regardless. She's another member of the crew that Vesette would like to befriend, only she can never seem to find her...
X'keyqi Tyaka ( ) ( PC ) - The Like-Minded
One of the first things about Key that stood out to Vesette was that she seemed to be a kindred spirit in dealing with large social gatherings. She's enjoyed chatting with Key about engineering and inventing, encouraging her to take on an investor and test the waters of spreading her wings with her crafts. Vesette does feel guilty about the way the situation with that stands currently, and is looking for a way to fix it since she suggested it. She regards Key as a friend and does not want to leave her stuck.

Personal RP Limits

I Will Play: Mature language, content and themes. Violence, sexuality, drug/alcohol use, morally grey, all of that's fair game as long as it makes sense to the story. Temporary injuries, imprisonment, or being incapacitated is also okay.
Please Ask First: Extended captivity / imprisonment. Permanent or long-term injury.
Hard Limits: Permanent character death or maiming, rape plots, and ERP heavy / ERP only plots.
A Note on IC Relationships: I really enjoy RPing romances if it makes sense and adds to the characters' development. That said, I like to take a 30 to 60 day waiting period before I decide to commit to getting Vesette into a relationship. If your character is interested in her, expect it to take time.
Disclaimer
■ The most important thing to me in RP is that everyone is having fun. If something comes up that makes you uncomfortable, please say something. I'm glad to change whatever's going on to make it work. Being happy and interested in the RP is more important to me than immersion and the mood, so if something's not going how you want, let me know!
RP Hooks
■ Ishgardian- Vesette's from the fringes of the Brume, and has lived in Ishgard her whole life. Very open to prior connections from the city, just ask first!
■ Mechanic- She fixes things and loves doing it. Feel free to bring her something to repair. Her general expertise is in fixing weapons and general household stuff (stoves, doors, etc).
■ Skysteel Manufactory- A machinist now on leave with the war over, Vesette made plenty of friends there from all over Eorzea.
■ Atrocious Pilot- She might've damaged your character's airship. Or some goods on the landing that were theirs. In any case, she can barely fly and has had a lot of trouble because of it. Feel free to have your character rant at her about it.
