This young woman forced to grow up quickly due to circumstances. She will have to look inwards to find out if what she seeks is to reclaim or redeem. APPEARANCE Kumori is almost ghostly pale with a lean build. She was initially a sickly child, but with some physical training she gradually overcame her ailments. Her eyes are a deep blue with a tinge of green which resemble the depths of an ocean. At four feet and eight inches, she is fairly short with light blonde hair that merges into a golden orange at the tips of her strands. PERSONALITY At best Kumori is an awkward introvert and at her worst she can be an ill tempered woman spouting on about whatever displeases her. When near family her mood can become more mild but she does little to hide when something bothers her. Even when near her siblings she is still stubborn but ultimately will still do what is asked of her elder siblings. There have been very few outside of her family that have actually carried on in conversation with her since she tends to remain silent unless she feels inclined to voice her concerns. LIKES Strong Individuals. After growing out of her frail childhood, Kumori began to hold physical strength in high regard. No matter who she meets in her travels at some point in time she will question their strength whether it be verbal or in thought, comparing everyone she comes across to her sister, Sayori. Training. Despite her obsession with strength she is not keen on fighting. She sees fighting as a means to an end and does not participate in bloodshed for the sake of bloodshed. So she trains tirelessly to remain prepared at all times because when danger beckons the Farcloud family she wants to be ready to stem the tide of violence. Family. After being separated from her family for so long her bond with them has only strengthened despite the distances that divided them. She may be the one seemingly always wearing a scowl but deep down she is content with just being around those close to her. Flowers. Kumori would have you believe her to be this hardened warrior but the little girl inside her still adores flowers, she would never admit to such a thing but you rarely see her without a flower in her hair or floral patterns on her clothes. DISLIKES Aimless Individuals. Kumori takes titles and positions seriously, a duty and purpose to be fufilled. People who seem to have no purpose and do things on a whim irritate her. The Paranormal. Due to her shrine maiden lineage she is very spiritual. She believes in the gods and demons alike, while not completely terrified of such things she is known to give pause when the supernatural occurs. STRENGTHS Agile. Her small frame contributes greatly to her combat agility. Jumping, sprinting, climbing, she can move around the area with relative ease making quick work of foes that are of the slow and lumbering nature. Deep Aether Reserves. The Farcloud family line has been known to be naturally gifted with aetheric energies and Kumori's aether is especially abundant. Only second to her sister Chidori in aether levels, Kumori has received some training to reign in her energy but was unable to complete the lessons so at best her aether is a sharp yet unwieldy blade. Aether Manipulation. Training with her sister in law Sakashi has borne fruit. Kumori is able to channel her aether into objects to make them lighter for her to wield to compensate for her lack of physical strength. She is also able to condense large amounts of aether to any point in her body to bolster her defenses, but to do so drains quite a bit of stamina. WEAKNESSES Low Stamina. Kumori is the flame that burns twice as bright and burns out twice as quickly. She fights with much ferocity but is very prone to exhaustion. Insecure. Kumori is very self-conscious of her height and overall appearance because she believes no one will take her seriously. Quick to anger. She often wears her heart on her sleeve so when things bother her she will often make it known. Socially Awkward. Kumori's primary emotion which she has no problem expressing is anger. Due to her past, anger has rested at the forefront for far too long so when the situations calls for any other type of emotion she can seem withdrawn or confused. CURRENT INVENTORY A list of items in Kumori's possession at all times. Last Updated: 10/31/2017. Choker: A golden choker with a red gem embedded in the center, she almost never takes it off. Error creating thumbnail: File missing COMBAT & WEAPONRY As a way to rid herself of the ailments she suffered as a child, Kumori trained rigorously with her elder sister Sayori. Once she was well enough physically, she began training in tandem with both her sisters Sayori and Chidori, one in the martial arts and the other in shrine priestess rituals. After completing her training in both areas she became an apprentice to her sister in law Sakashi, a well known practitioner in all things aetheric. Hotaru no hiko When she first began training she was too weak to lift even the lighest of weapons so Sayori thought it fitting to teach her the hotaru no hiko style of martial arts. Amagumo A very large blade left to her by her brother Arashi. Amagumo or "Raincloud" is primarily used as a one handed sword by her brother, but Kumori has re purposed it for use as a greatsword to deadly effect. The sword has been within Farcloud family for generations first forged by their ancestor Koyomi Farcloud. It has since been reforged several times throughout the years and is said to be enchanted, possessing power over the sky itself. Ritual Staff One of the items Kumori managed to take with her before fleeing her village. The staff itself is nothing special but it is more than enough to use as a medium to channel her spiritual energies. EXPERIENCE LOG Kumori has seen more training than actual combat so she is always eager to prove her martial prowess. BACKSTORY The information that follows is for archival purposes only. Some of this information is available through IC interaction, and some is currently obscured even to the character herself. Farcloud The Farcloud clan has existed for countless generations living in seclusion within the village of Orozo. The village is surrounded by dense forests and clouds that seem to perpetually loom overhead although several streams of sunlight often pierce the veil of clouds. The Farclouds are a major clan of importance charged with keeping the village masked from the outside world as well as protecting it should any intruders stumble upon it's location. Shrine Maiden The shrine maiden is a position of great influence as their responsibility is paramount to the village's safety. They are tasked with maintaining the barrier which attracts clouds to hover over the village to hide them from being discovered overhead. Currently this position belongs to Kaori Farcloud. Family In the early cycles of Kumori's life she was happy taking one day at a time with her family. She had three older siblings and one younger one, Arashi was the eldest of all siblings and only boy, Sayori afterwards and the eldest sister, Chidori in the middle, and Minori as the youngest. Her mother and father are Kaori and Haru. Her mother an accomplished priestess and shrine maiden of Orozo village and her father an influential man who could rouse the hearts of many but it was never made clear of what his occupation is. Loss Just another day like any other as the Farcloud family carried on their routines yet little did they know that misfortune would strike at the heart of their family. Kaori, the esteemed matron of the clan fell ill with an unknown disease. She lay bedridden for days which turned into weeks then to years, all the while her children kept to their duties and then at her bed side with the time that remained. Then one day a day like any other she was gone. Tears ran like rivers for months but the people had little time to mourn for their beloved shrine maiden, little time for the family to weep for their warm hearted mother. The barrier surrounding the village was weakening and they needed a successor... Dark Cloud Chidori was poised to take the position of shrine maiden but she was too young, but the village elders never had a chance to ponder over such things because with the barrier weakened, external threats began to wreak havoc in Orozo. Haru instructed his family to evacuate with the villagers and most complied except for Kumori. She was too headstrong and didn't want to lose the only place she's ever known so she rushed back towards the village armed with only a staff. Her brother Arashi stayed behind to cover their escape and she sought to join up with him to retake the village but was waylaid by an ambush. Arashi heard the commotion off in the distance and after finishing his fight he managed to locate Kumori and her assailants then dispatch them quickly. Recovery Kumori was badly beaten and bruised to the point of being immobile. Arashi carried her off to a long forgotten hut on the outskirts of the village that belonged to an old hermit that has long since passed. It was in this shack that he would watch over her until her wounds healed. Deep in the woods time was lost, weeks, months, all that Kumori could recall was loss. Losing the fight, losing her home, losing her family, so much loss and nothing to show for it. After her wounds healed Arashi set down a rucksack of supplies and planted his sword into the floor boards of the hut and uttered "Amagumo will protect and guide you, find the others." she motions to stop him but before she can speak a word of protest he hugs her and stares into her eyes for a brief moment. It was at that point that Kumori knew her brother had something he must do, Arashi did not speak another word and exited the hut. She felt reinvigorated from witnessing her brother's resolved and gathered her own courage to press on. Pressing Onward She lingered around the hut for a few days training to regain her strength from being bedridden for so long. After she felt she was ready she grabbed her supplies, then places her hand on the hilt of Amagumo. Her aether seeped into the blade but it was still heavy, she wondered if this was the weight of Arashi's resolve before sheathing it on her back and heading out. Kumori wandered for days unsure of where her family even fled to, she never stuck around long enough to find out where they were going. As the feeling of hopelessness took hold she remembered Arashi's words and jokingly muttered "Where to now, Amagumo?". Before she even took a breath after speaking those words the sword seemed to resonate with the wind around her as a gentle breeze began to blow west... RECENT HISTORY Kumori has located her sisters as well as finding her cousins Chiko and Chouko along the way but she has yet to reunite with Arashi and is currently searching for information on his whereabouts. She is now under the employ of the Wandering Tonberry, a hunting lodge of sorts that had taken in her wayward sisters. LIST OF FAMILY MEMBERS Kaori Farcloud, mother. ( ❖ Deceased ♥ 🔒 ) The matron and shrine maiden for Orozo village, before Kaori's untimely demise she was praised as being very kind and nourishing not only to her children but to all villagers as well. Haru Farcloud, father. ( ♥ 🔒) Father of the Farcloud siblings, Haru is a strong pillar within the family as well as the village. Little is known about Haru and he has been missing since the village was attacked. Arashi Farcloud, brother. ( ♥ 🔒) Arashi is the eldest of the Farcloud siblings. Kumori looks up to her brother and in her mind he is the ideal role model. He cares for all of his sisters dearly and would go to any lengths to ensure their safety Sayori Farcloud, sister,mentor. ( ♥🔒 ) The eldest sister of the siblings and Kumori's teacher. Sayori has always been a bit of wild card but Kumori looks up to her for her strength and martial prowess. As time passed that admiration turned into envy, but after receiving some personal training from Sayori, Kumori's has bond with her sister has strengthened. What started out as fervent admiration transformed into a rivalry although Kumori is the only one who sees it as such since she is still far weaker than her elder sister. Chidori Farcloud, sister. ( ♥🔒 ) Third child of the Farcloud family and next in line to take over the role of shrine maiden to the village before it's fall. Chidori is not much older than Kumori but has been burdened with the responsibility of filling her mother's shoes. That time never came to pass since their village was attacked, despite the current state of the village Kumori is determined to protect her sister so that one day they may return to the village and Chidori can take her rightful place as the shrine maiden. Kumori takes great pride in Chidori but also has fond memories of their childhood when they shared many interests. Kumori is torn between being a sister to Chidori and being a guardian to the shrine shrine maiden causing a bit of a rift between the two. Minori Farcloud, sister. ( ♥🔒 ) The youngest of the Farcloud clan, Minori can often be found near Chidori and when they family fled to Eorzea it was just the two of them for quite a while. Despite her age she is very mature and often has to be the voice of reason. Even though Kumori is usually serious she often likes to tease Minori since she is the only one younger than herself. Sakashi Farcloud, sister in law. (❖ Deceased ♥🔒 ) Arashi's wife and Kumori's teacher, Sakashi and Kumori first had a tumultuous relationship since Kumori is very protective of her siblings but eventually Sakashi won her over. Little is known of Sakashi but she was well known for being masterful in the aetherial arts. After the two grew close, Sakashi decided to impart some of that knowledge to Kumori. LIST OF NON-FAMILY RELATIONS Flynt Knoltros, huntmaster. ( ♥✔ 🔒) Kumori initially sought out aid from Flynt with the intent to track her family the same way one would track game, but a stroke of luck and sheer coincidence brought her to the place where the rest of her family currently resided. She has pledged her services to the huntsmaster as a way of repaying him for helping runite her with the other Farclouds though she still remains skeptical of his establishment at times. Ritsu Knoltros, lodgemistress. ( ♥✔ 🔒 ) Kumori doesn't sense any ill intent from the lodge mistress, but can tell there are hidden fangs beneath her calm demeanor. Kumori can't but help feel a certain resonance with Ritsu yet is still cautious. Anya Noire, Doctor. ( ♥✔ 🔒❖) Kumori has much respect for the field medic as she has been saved by her numerous times. She often calls her "Dr. Noire" as a sign of that respect although Anya may be put off by it due to the implications of unfamiliarity. So far Anya has the highest standing with Kumori aside from her family members. O-nari Syn, Lodge Hunter. ( ♥✔ 🔒 ) She thought O-nari was just another fresh faced hunter looking to make a name for themselves, but was surprised to find out that he is an elder with some words of wisdom. She confided in him once before and sees a stalwart ally in O-nari even though he seems a bit odd at times. Merrick Lockwood, Lodge Resident. ( ✖ ) Merrick always grab Kumori's attention for all the wrong reasons, most of the things he does rubs her the wrong way. She has little respect for him that she rarely addresses him by name often calling him "Vagrant". While Kumori doesn't like Merrick, Chi has taken a liking to him so she tried to tolerate him. Roger Holmes, Lodge Officer. ( ♥✔ 🔒 ) Kumori was shocked to find out that her big sister is dating Roger and is wary about their pairing. While she doesn't quite trust Roger, she has seen that he cares for Chidori. Kumori often makes up dubious challenges for Roger to prove himself worthy of Chidori and will take any chance she can get to put a wedge between them. ROLEPLAY HOOKS The challenge of RPing with Aden, since he's a socially anxious character, is coming up with a plausible reason to encounter him and get him to stick around long enough to talk. Here are a few suggestions. The bookstore: Aden has previously worked at an NPC-run bookstore in Gridania. It would be easy enough to know of him from the store or to encounter him there. The Wailers/the Twin Adder:Aden spent some time before his apprenticeship with Flynt as part of this group, and it would be easy to know him/know of him from there. Hunting: Aden spends much of the time he's not on duty hunting. He can be found out and about taking care of minor requests directed to the company or just for practice. He tends to be a little bit more sociable since he feels more in his element and has a ready reason to just walk away. House Caileur: Aden is a dragoon serving a minor house, and he spends most of his time there nowadays, or in the field on assignments. This is an easy way to encounter him, though he's likely to be more formal in this capacity. ABOUT THE PLAYER I've been RPing for roughly seventeen years, and my first real start was on a FF7 board. Since then I've built up extensive experience with LARP and tabletop systems, and while I have RPed in MMOs before this is the first time I've really pushed into organized and community play in one. I'm chill and actively try to be a low maintenance RPer--everyone has multiple partners, multiple engagements, and I can go make my own trouble while you're off plotting, no problem. That said, I expect the same understanding out of RPers. If we're more than just casually encountering each other, understand that I am an adult with a full time job, a healthy long-term relationship, and interests outside of XIV. Sometimes I just won't feel like RPing, too. Never take it personally if I tell you no, I will usually try to explain myself. THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND... I am (probably) IC.If I am not crafting or in a dungeon, I am probably IC. You can always /tell first to check, and if you walk up and emote at me and see my armor suddenly change it means I'm switching to go IC and respond. I play from work sometimes. My job affords me long periods of downtime, and sometimes I log in and RP during them. However, the nature of the job means I have to be able to drop whatever I'm doing without warning. I will let you know if I am at work, and if so expect short, unannounced AFKs. If I am dealing with something that will take more than five minutes to resolve I'll try to let you know. Aden is a heroic character. His arc is ultimately about hope, and the thought that maybe, just maybe, we can have nice things just this once. He carries a lot of responsibility in the hopes and aspirations others have put on him, and what he himself has taken on as well. The previous generation always wants better for the next, and if I can pull it off Aden is that succeeding for once. I'm tired of romance. Before coming to XIV I spent several years engaged in a deeply fulfilling RP relationship--but as with all things, moderation. I'm burned out on the topic right now. Aden as a character doesn't lend himself well to the subject. This is not something I'm interested in, and if you are then you're in for a very long haul to convince both myself and the character it's worth pursuing. GUIDELINES I WILL NOT... Join your FC This character is heavily tied to his FC. ERP I will push the upper boundaries of what would go in an R rating, but my usual way of dealing with this is to do a fade to black before things get heavy and then offer to finish the scene as a short piece of erotica. Keep in mind your chances of dealing with this aspect approach zero. Kill my character Don't even ask. Be your villain While I'm good at playing villains, this is not the character for that. I WILL... Engage in mature RP. It's a sometimes food, but I am comfortable with violence/torture/dark themes/sexual content just shy of ERP/etc. It has to be appropriate, you can't just throw it in for no reason, and have to understand the limits of remaining tasteful, but I'm game. Be your bro. If your character puts the work in to befriend Aden he is behind them with an intensity that you might not expect. These are the relationships that are most important to him. Go on zany adventures with you. See above. If Aden trusts you, he'll throw in with just about any half-baked idea that doesn't sound like a disaster waiting to happen.
