Character

General

Dawson is unmistakably Gridanian; his obsession with the forest and what it has to offer has colored his entire perspective on life. Above all, Dawson treasures nature and wisdom, and he strives to learn as much as he can from the land and the experiences of his tribemates. When he met Rhesh'ir, Y'lyfriel, Tahla'li, and X'linwh in the Shroud and decided to leave the forest for the first time, it was clear that Dawson's life would change dramatically. As he travels, he still thinks of home and longs to wander the forest again, but he is starting to see the joys of the world outside of the Shroud.

Appearance

Dawson prefers simple robes and adornments; nothing flashy. He likes to traverse the wood barefoot so he can feel the earth beneath his feet, but sometimes he’ll put on sandals if the need is great. He is pretty unkempt from years of carefree outdoor living, but he has found that this matters little to most forest residents.

Behaviour

Dawson has experienced a great deal of love and loss in his life, and those events have granted him a sort of wisdom that defies his age. He is reflective, honest, and tries to see the deeper meaning in most things. However, his narrow view of the world up until now can sometimes seem alien and off-putting, depending on the subject. He is incredibly unsure of himself when placed in new and unmeasured situations.

Dawson has studied conjury for the better part of his life. He is fully dedicated to the art-- he is always aware of the aether around him and doesn’t hesitate to use his powers of healing and the full fury of nature when the need arises.

--- ♥ Y'lyfriel Sikah - Lyfriel is like a sister to Dawson. He does his best to provide love and calm guidance to her now that the recent dangers to her family have given her a new sense of ferocity. He worries for Lyf when her emotions and guilt get the best of her and hopes to be a force of logic in her life. ♥ Rhesh'ir Zhwan - It seems that the plague over Rhesh'ir has passed for now. He feared that the bard would wander, but it seems that his sense of purpose has surpassed his sense of entrapment. He still feels compelled to keep a watchful eye over Rhesh'ir, however; he knows that it's only a matter of time before the same problems will arise again. ♥ Onuma Ahntifi - Dawson sees a lot of his own traits in Onuma, and in this, they have found a common ground that has brought them together. He has a new appreciation for her since Lotan'to's passing; while a part of her has been lost, she still tirelessly works to make sure her friends are taken care of. That sort of stubborn strength is a double-edged sword, however... He hopes to assist her as as best as he can as her innate abilities repair and change, and hopes that her unwillingness to rest does not get the best of her. ● Rah'na Lihzeh - Time and training have done a lot for the boy. Rahn'a is now poised to become one of the finest conjurers in the company. Dawson appreciates the way that Rahn'a nurtures and empathizes, but hopes to continue to be a source of wisdom as Rahn'a continues to grow and change. ● Kodaro Ba'rococo - Dawson knows that Kodaro's emotions can sometimes get the best of him, but despite all of that, he sticks to his core mission: to protect his comrades despite all odds. While this is respectable, it gives him a sort of youthful ignorance in many situations. Dawson hopes that Kodaro will learn to protect himself as well from time to time. ● U'dahsh'a Nunh - Dawson is wary of U'dahsh'a. He has proven himself to be an incredibly capable lancer, but Dawson is unsure of what to make of the miqo'te. He thinks of U'dahsha as rash, headstrong, and overly confident. ● Lotan’to Jiub - In his death, Lotan'to has given Dawson a great deal of perspective. His view on Garleans has changed, somewhat--he's realized that while the nation is certainly evil, its many bystanders may not have been in the first place. Lotan'to was an admirable man whose past made him stronger in the end, and Dawson strives to find the same sort of strength in his life. ● Rinha'li Dhavha - Rin is a busybody. His strange background has given him a unique insight that Dawson finds fascinating, but it has also put a fear in Rin that Dawson usually finds unbecoming. ● Tahla'li Tayuun - Dawson has distanced himself from Tahla'li for some time now--the passion he used to feel for the boy has all but disappeared and is now replaced with regret. He bears no ill will toward Tahl, but doesn't make much time for him, either.

--- ● X'linwh Tia - Lin was an attentive student, a fearless defender, and an insatiably curious friend. Dawson will miss him dearly. ● Pipituu Kipichuu - Pipichuu comes off as brilliant and a bit eccentric to Dawson. He hasn't seen the man in ages now. ● Mijisaa Qisaa - She is polite and incredibly intelligent. Dawson thinks of her and Pipi as reputable employers and wishes he ● Erimmont Leguard - He respects Erimmont greatly for his devotion to Rhesh'ir's cause, as well as what Dawson feels is a deep understanding of his place in the world. He might come off as harsh to others, but Dawson thinks his demeanor is just a front. Dawson wants to see Erimmont again, but it's been quite some time since they've spent any significant time in Ul'dah.

History/Timeline

Dawson discovered the rest of his "tribe" when he witnessed Tahla'li hunting near the southern cave. After several visits, Dawson grew close to his new group of friends, and they spent their days hunting, fishing, and telling stories around the fire.

Several weeks passed; eventually, it was decided that they should travel south to Thanalan so that Lin could return to Ul'dah. After much hesitation, Dawson decided to leave his homeland and join them on their journey. On their way south, they encountered Lin's tribe, who had become tempered followers of Ifrit. The party was forced to encounter the primal, but a dormant Echo inside of them shielded them from Ifrit's influence. They were able to defeat him, but at great cost. It took some time for them to recover, but eventually, they found their way to the Great Merchant City.

They spent many weeks in Ul'dah. Dawson helped Tahla'li to find the Thaumaturge Guild and begin his studies. He also rescued his chocobo Sylvain from a particularly cruel trader. Quickly after arriving in the Walled City, it was discovered that Rhesh'ir was considered a deserter by the Immortal Flames. He was made to stand trial for his crimes, but the tireless work of Erimmont, Lyfriel, and others gave him a strong case and his punishment was severely reduced. In celebration, Dawson and some of his dearest companions decided to leave the desert to explore and enjoy La Noscea. The trip to La Noscea was short, but Dawson was inspired by the land and what it had to offer.

After a brief trip, the troupe moved north to reunite with the rest of their tribe and were immediately set upon by dragons. Lin's death and the grave injuries of a few others caused the tribe to suffer unimaginably.

The group of adventurers have made their way to La Noscea for the time being. They've met quite a few others and have set up temporary quarters at the Moraby docks near Limsa Lominsa. They go on regular missions together to make a name for themselves in the area.
