Appearance

He's a taller than average male miquo'te, with an average body (not fat, not underweight, average muscle tone). His skin has a brown tan, with his hair sporting a darkbrown colour. His eyes are grey-blue.

A diagonal scar is on the upper bridge of his nose.

Behavior/Personality

He is generally a person that prefers order over chaos, and he believes in law and order. He upholds rules and keeps an eye out that others follow set rules as well.

He does not often think ahead very far, and he most often lacks subtelty, as well as the ability to think around corners. He is booksmart, all in all one could describe him as possessing a high intelligence, but low wisdom.

He is pragmatic, as well as opportunistic. He did lie, betray and even kill in his past to gain personal benefits, but even though he commits such negative acts in the spur of the moment, he almost always regrets those acts in the longterm and feels miserable about them later, due to a good conscience. This makes him struggle with his own (from his point of view) "treacherous" nature.

In general he views himself in a worse light than others do with him. He acts kind and polite towards others, which makes him well liked among his Kin, most simply not aware of those negative acts he commited, or having forgotten of forgiven them. He himself dwells on such, which gives him a slight inferiority complex. Such might also be a lasting influence of his upbringing in a Keeper tribe with harsh social environment.

Growing up in a Keeper tribe that did mostly robb traveling merchants betwen Ul'dah and Gridania, he got heavily influenced by two things: The isolated, harsh and cruel social environment of the tribe and the fact that the females outnumbered the males greatly. The tribe, surviving by criminal means, could not allow weaknes and in the later years got "ruled by an iron fist", which made Mauh (like ever other member of the tribe) cold and hard as long as he was a member. As soon as he broke free and joined the kindred, he slowly changed from being cold and abrasive to his presently kind and polite behavior, having been shown by his new friends how much nicer life could be. His opportunistic and pragmatic streaks are lasting effects of his harsh upbringing, where he had to look out for every tiny benefit he could get.

Having been one of the few males in a female dominated tribe that guarded its males jealously, he only got nice and caring interactions when one of the huntresses took a liking to him, demanding his attention and sexual favors. Because of that a liking for women in general, flirting and sex is ingrained in him. Because he got female attention automatically in his tribal days, he is actually inexperienced in winning over a woman. He is submissive in terms of romance, preferring to leave the lead in a relationship to his female partner, and having a liking for strong alpha women in general. He is a romantic at heart, gentle and cuddly, and actually far from being a sexual deviant (which makes him boring or unmanly/unattractive for most women).

Besides that, by his own nature he has a great liking for children. Raising and taking care of them is ingrained in him and he is a loving father overall.

History

He was born in Ul'dah, in a nightclub called "the Mirage", his mother being a dancer that long before fled her criminal tribe of Bandit Keepers that lived in the south shroud. His father is a merchant and travelling keeper, that met Thala in the nightclub and took a fancy to her. After Mauh -initially named Thala'a- was born, he sticked around as good as possible, but it was difficult due to Thala's work in the nightclub. The nightclub was no place for children, and as Thala'to, their second son got born, the pressure got even more. Mauh, Thalas sister and Matriarch of the Relehna tribe, searched for her "lost" sister and found her two years after Thala'tos birth. They argued, Mauh trying to convince Thala to come back, and as that didnt work tried to get at least her children back into the tribe, even more so considering they were sons and thus important for the tribes future.

The pressure finally got too great, Thala agreed to give up at least Thala'a who was old enough to travel. At age of 7, he got taken by Mauh as her own and was brought to the tribe in the south shroud, from then on called Mauh'a.The strain all this put on their relationship, and finally Thala agreeing on giving away Thala'a, led to his father breaking with Thala and leaving her and Thala'to. Having "lost" first son and partner, Thala succumbed to alcohol and depression, while Thala'to grew up to be a dancer in the Mirage. Mauh'a wouldn't learn of all this until he was 25 and met his brother again.

Mauh'a grew up in the south shroud, member of the Relehna tribe who lived mainly off of poaching in the forest and robbing the rich merchants travelling over land to and from Ul'dah. Due to their criminal nature they isolated themselves, avoiding contact with others, except for some few occasions. By nature, he turned out to be rather clumsy and short sighted, and thus was a terrible hunter and bandit. He was kept back at their village most of times, even more so as he was guarded jealously as one of the few, valuable breeding males for the isolated tribe. Having noticed his natural talent soon, he got mentored and teached by his Grandmother Nanh, the tribe elder and former matriarch, in reading, medicine, magic and knowledge overall, so he would be of even more use for the tribe.

The calamity struck when he was 20, killing most of the tribe including his Aunt Mauh, his daughter Oah and her Mother Verisha. His former teenage love Nami took over as new matriarch, and she should rule the remnants of the tribe with an iron fist for the next coming years, driving away all mothers and children of the tribe, ceasing breeding and giving up on the future of the tribe, concentrating on banditry completely. Which left only the harshest huntresses and the males in the village.

When he was 25, his grandmother died of old age with 71 years. At the same time, the tribe landed a big coup, robbing a big caravan of rich merchants, claiming goods and gil that amounted to the worth of 2 million. The tribe celebrated this coup, and mauh'a used this occasion and his knowledge of medicine and poisons to poison them all, killing off the remnants of his tribe, getting revenge on Nami and her fellow Huntresses, and greedily claiming all the gil for himself alone.

He then left the shroud and followed the only trail he got: The family he got in Ul'dah, his aunt and grandmother never kept secret from him that he had a mother and brother there. He arrived at the mirage only to discover that his mother died shortly before, and that his brother left for another place: The Kindred.

He found his brother Thala'to, joined the Kindred and rose in its rank, soon claiming the positions of Lead Healer and Warden for himself. Along the way, he opened up to people, finding new friends and even learning more about his family. Both brothers were surprised to find out they got a half sister, Tira Setoh, a half-seeker half-keeper girl their father got later with a woman from a seeker tribe, that by pure coincidence also joined the Kindred.

His new, non-tribal life in the Kindred brought ups and downs for him, joys and sadness. He found another mate that now carries his child. He found his daughter Qhon whose mother died to wild beasts some years after she left the tribe and took her to him, raising her alone now. And he found love in Vijara Windaar, a fierce and strong Woman, controversal in the Kindred to the end, only to loose her again as she died in a frenzied attack.

All in all, too much to write down in detail here, and much more has to come for Mauh'a in the future.
