WHOA! Uuuh, hey there Good Lookin'! This is unexpected - uh, welcome to my head space! If you're looking for spoilers or hoping to get a peek at me naked you're out of luck. BUT, if you've come to pay homage or just learn about the delightful creature I am, you've come to the right place! Welcome to my own little shrine! ... And yes, before you ask: I DID swallow the canary.

This RPC is WAY out of date! I've taken my social RP blogging to rpshelf.tumblr.com Any information on Chokho can be seen there!

Chokho is a ninja and eager to teach other characters skills from her homeland I'm also interested in expanding the Viqqoh family in game. Let me know if you'd like to work something out!

Basic Info

Chokho Viqqoh is a proud ninja, dedicated to teaching the art of her homeland and assisting its refugees however she can... But most people don't need to worry about that. She prefers to hide her skills in plain sight, and most people aren't quick to question someone with a laugh on their tongue and a smile on their lips. While she is used to the spotlight and frequently slips into the center of attention, precious few people seem to notice that her motives run deeper than the simple, hedonistic lush that she pretends to be. Luckily for everyone, those intentions are far from malicious.
Most people will never have to worry about any of that. She is more or less content to offer jokes, stories, and make friends. She deeply enjoys philosophy, art, and discussion on either when she can find them, but a playful wink and compliment will do just as well.
You can generally assume any knowledge here is NOT something easily accessible on an IC level! Chokho dedicates a lot of time and effort into concealing information about herself, by whatever means necessary.

Appearance

Chokho stands just a touch taller than most other miqo'te, with a vaguely athletic form. While she does train to keep herself fit, she isn't the most disciplined person in Eorzea. With muscles toned just enough to look good, she isn't about to overpower anyone.
Whatever physical intimidation her body lacks, her face makes up for. Black markings run across her expression and naturally draw attention towards her crimson eyes. An open-mouth grin to show off her canines, hawkish features, and narrow eyes give Chokho a naturally frightening visage.
While she certainly carries herself with a casual grace, Chokho puts in a deliberate effort to keep herself meticulously clean. Her vanity is a weak point, and she proudly shows it. She thinks she looks attractive and presents herself in a way to let the world see what she does.
Eyes
Hair Skin Body Type Voice Clothing Notable Features
Blood red. But nicer! Uh... ketchup red! Jet black with crimson highlights As black as night Lithe and vaguely athletic. Smooth like caramel, rich like chocolate. Varies wildly - the only consistency being that she tries to keep style in all outfits. Black markings across her face, piercing red eyes, and an almost constant, toothy grin.

Behavior & Personality

While Chokho certainly LOOKS intimidating, her personality is anything but. Her powerful presence is used only in the most benevolent of ways as she shamelessly flirts and eagerly jokes with anyone (mostly) willing to hear her out. She is quick to laugh and quicker to make friends. Chokho has an insatiable appetite for play and shows no shame in cracking bad jokes, impishly teasing, or mercilessly flirting with anything on two feet.
What is less frequently seen is Chokho's deeply philosophical side. She has a very though-out view of the world that puts her on a self-imposed quest to spread happiness wherever she can. She spreads bad jokes because she believes it is important to laugh, and very few people know of her life between the sheets despite her constant flirtations. Chokho does not hide the fact that she enjoys a good book and discussion more than a drink and a romp, but she simply assumes that people find these much more boring social alternatives. And who wants to risk boring, when you can share a laugh instead?

Skills

Chokho is practiced in stealth - physical and social. She can just as easily make topics and emotions disappear in a shroud of lies, as she can vanish into the night. From picking locks to drawing out secrets, Chokho's fascination with people and ninja background gives her a wide variety of skills befitting a thief.
Her ninjitsu makes full use of expert level unarmed combat, and she is beyond vicious with short blades. Self-made poison, mudra, and an unusual sense of aetheric control are also found in Chokoh's bag of tricks, but she's much more reluctant lay those cards on the table. She also has basic experience with a wide variety of weapons, from blade to bow - but these skills do not surpass a hobbyist level.

Chokho's skills are not reflected by her in game attributes. She is not a black mage/summoner/dragoon/goldsmith/conjurer/paladin.

Weight of Viqqoh

Viqqoh is a common name in Eorzea. Perhaps you've heard it before? That's likely because it's an often recommended name from moon keeper name generators - but forget about that. We can come up with a better reason than that!
A name is passed down to each child by keeper's tradition. Some of these names can be traced as far back as the First Astral Era. Viqqoh (alongside Luna and Jinjahl) is one such powerful name. The jungles of Othard house a large sect of the name Viqqoh. Through power pushed through guile, they've claim to be the original holders of the name before it spread to Eorzea.
The name carries deliberate power and pride to its members, but it's expanse has not been entirely mapped out! Chokho's family is deliberately open ended in some parts to allow other players to take up the roles if they desire. If the idea interests you, contact me! There are already three members of the family in play, though the other players are a secret for the time being.

Biography

1551 - 1561

Home in the jungles of Othard
Chokho Viqqoh was born in the jungles of Othard to a large and powerful family. One of last children that her mother had, Chokho would have eventually grown up to be a powerful mage or skilled hunter like her many brothers and sisters, if not for an unusual illness.
Chokho was born pale and weak, and she would stay this way for her entire childhood. Local conjurers had never seen a sickness such and this and they were only able to surmise that some part of the girl, on an aetheric level, was "missing". There was a hole in her being that could be filled by no magic. Without a cure, Chokho was cursed to an eternal shortness of breath and frail form. She was not given long to live.
The girl was lucky in one thing: her mother. Chokho's mother was a powerful woman and matriarch to the clan. When the conjurers said there was nothing they could do, she told them to find someone better. When no one was found with an answer she liked, she took matters into her own hands. Even though the Viqqoh clan was founded on pride and power, its stern hunters and arguably ruthless mages rallied around one of their own. Through spells, foreign medicines, and more supplies than she could ever hope to reply, Chokho would live. She would never have the strength of her peers and could rarely muster the energy to leave her home, but she would live.
Her life was painful, but not without joy. While the majority of the clan could spare little time from their tasks, Chokho had the regular company of two other members who were deemed equally non-vital: her brother Xau'to and her father Hawu'a. Xau'to, a scoundrel by trade, was a frequent source of company and always had a trick up his sleeve or a story to tell to keep the sick child company. Any childhood Chokho has she owes to her sibling's affection. While her father often took to the road for the sake of the clan, he was never the less a pillar of stability for a life teetering so close to death. One of the most influential gestures he ever did was paint Chokho's face in the stripes she still wears today. Reminiscent of a tiger native to their home, Hawu'a was quick to remind Chokho how strong tigers are and how much she is like them.
While Chokho did not contribute to her tribe as much as the others, her sisters found her at least bearable. It certainly helped that for what she lacked in body she made up for in mind. With little to do outside her brother's company, Chokho sharpened her mind with whatever books her father brought home. Her insatiable appetite for knowledge was mostly a squandered gift on the amazonian family, but her stories and legends made her entertaining enough to not be considered a complete burden.
"Someone once tried to tell me you can't be cute, AND sexy... GUESS I SHOWED HIM!"
1562 - 1572
And then life came bursting forth with fire and fury.
Overnight, and completely without explanation, Chokho was cured. Her bones roared with strength for the first time, her skin went from its pale grey to a rich dark, and air rushed to fill her lungs without struggle. Although she was no stronger than any other miqo'te in her family: she felt invincible. She was eager to contribute to the family in a more meaningful way - if nothing else to show her father what a strong tiger she had become.
Of course, the mysterious fix had a mysterious drawback. Chokho began to experience episodes of aetheric flux. Without warning she began to spit fire, crush rock underneath her feet, or scorch everyone around her. The raw power behind these elemental possessions dwarfed the power of the clan's thaumaturges. It became quickly apparent that Chokho was a threat to everything and everyone around her.
Ever understanding, her family (mother) sought answers before it sought blood. Tensions ran rampant and Chokho once again fell into introverted isolation - this time for the safety of others more than herself. Not only did each outburst threaten those immediately around her, but it threatened to attract the smothering attention of the ever-present Garlean Empire. As the family's search found no answers, it was Chokho's mother that made the grim decision.
For her own safety and that of the tribe, Chokho would have to leave the tribe. The decision pleased no one. Unwilling to abandon her daughter completely, Chokho's mother assigned her two guardians: Xau'to and Hawu'a -- her brother and father. The two were tasked with keeping Chokho safe as they traveled. With a heavy heart and teary eyes, the trio left their home and began their adventure.
The trio scoured the land to better understand Chokho's condition, but never found a suitable answer. Her condition seemed entirely unique. While they found no answers on its cause, they did find a way to control it. Through meditation, mudra, and discipline, Chokho was able to control her outbursts. She quickly learned that while wild emotion was not the cause of these outbursts, it served as a catalyst. As long as she remained in control, she was less likely to harm those around her.
This monk-like approach to controlling herself made Chokho very receptive to the teachings of the world as she wandered. She developed a deeply philosophical world view during her travels. Conversation and literature sharpened Chokho's mind, and her tribe's ninja techniques and skills - passed on through her brother - toned her body. Chokho practiced a great many arts while traveling the land, but she preferred none of them as much as she did subtlety.
For many years, the band traveled far and wide. There was never a point where they found themselves particularly well off, and had to often made use of their tribes' techniques for petty acts of thievery simply to survive. Still, they were well intentioned and always happy to be together. It was far from perfect, but it was a nice life. Of course, it all fell to pieces when Menphina's bastard hound came crashing down.

A day she refuses to talk about
0 - 5
When Bahamut's rampage was done, Chokho was the only one left standing.
Chokho has been tight lipped about what exactly she experienced during the calamity. The specifics are not as important as the end results: she was alone, nothing to her name, and no closer to understanding the power within that started her journey.
Without family, guidance, or direction, Chokho adopted a very nihilistic view of the world. Paired with a carefree attitude that had been adopted from her brother, it did not take long for Chokho's live to revolve around a self-obsessed hedonism. She drifted from town to town, seeking what pleasures she could from local vices and people, only to discard them both when they became cumbersome.
An excessive amount of time was spent in Limsa Lominsa, where her views fit well with the local pirates and mercenaries. Although she was reluctant to fight - and indeed took on the guise of a helpless damsel - she was more than willing to make a few connections. Without her families supervision, Chokho knew that she could easily fall into trouble at Garlean hands. So she surrounded herself with troublemakers and ne'er-do-wells, and began to build a network of underground contacts.
For five years, Chokho drifted on well placed lies and false smiles, without any true goal in sight. It kept her safe, and that made her happy. She had no semblance of purpose, and she didn't want any. If everything was to die, she would do so laughing.

Present

Over the last few months, Chokho has slowly shed her nihilistic shell. Due in no small part to a few friendly souls, she recovered her faith in the world. No longer believing that nothing mattered and the only thing to do was to be happy: she has instead decided nothing matters EXCEPT being happy.
She has developed a complicated but structured philosophy of happiness, in which she tries to enable other people so that they may feel joy like she did during her hedonistic days.
Chokho still defaults to subtly and subterfuge in day-to-day life, but only because it's a skill that should be practiced. She uses her philosophy and her training for entirely altruistic means... even if she doesn't make it publicly known.

Recent History

Humble beginnings
Chokho has taken up a teaching position in Mor Dhona. She trains many of the doman refugees in her arts, and has dedicated herself to their protection and well-being. She worried for her own home on Othard constantly, but has no way back or reasonable way to influence the area.
As much as she would like to dedicate herself entirely to the doman plight, Chokho's personal life has gone through some dramatic changes! The nihilist miqo'te has had to make a few changes to her world-view as she discovered her long-lost (not technically) sister and fell into the most significant relationship of her life with her best friend.
Chokho has moved to Gridania for business reasons. This, combined with a realization that she cannot pass on her family traditions (which she considers their only remnants) to her sister has put Chokho in a trying situation. She counts herself lucky to have caring company around her - even if the helplessness of such an esoteric situation frustrates her.

RELATIONS

Romantic Interest     Interest      Good Standing     Watching

Vasque Desmarais - Though they got off on a bad start, Vasque's patience and understanding quickly won Chokho over. Over the course of months, her understanding, curiosity, and kindness went on to endear her to Chokho so greatly that they became best friends... and months MORE had the pair struggle through separate relationships, trials, and battles that ultimately earned Vasque a spot in Chokho's heart as her mate and the first person she is comfortable admitting she's in love with.
Xiao Viqqoh - Unbeknownst to Chokho, her little sister was brought to Eorzea after she was gravely wounded on Othard. The two happened upon each other by random happenstance and have remained close ever since. Chokho would do anything for her little sister. Through all her love and pride for her, Chokho hopes that Xiao never finds out who truly made her leave Othard.
Salem Nuhn - Chokho's first friend on arrival to Ul'dah, Salem's relaxed attitude and shared love of play instantly made him one of her best friends. A little heartbreak here and there isn't going to stop that. Chokho is glad to know Salem has her back, but doubts he truly understands what makes her tic.
Nazeru Auronas - Nazeru first introduced Chokho to the concept of love and helped her appreciate people as a whole. A bad relationship and even worse friendship has put the two on terrible terms.
Alexaria Whiteraven - Like many contacts, Chokho was first drawn to Alexaria due to tight pants. Once all attempts to get into them fell flat, Chokho was surprised to find that Alex kept such a sharp, philosophical mind. She now delights in talking to the woman about deeper thoughts and the workings of the mind and spirit, instead of the flesh.
Ennara Calian - Ennara was a passable friend that helped Chokho out of a tough spot, but had a life-view that stopped them from being good friends. After months apart, Chokho reunited with Ennara to discover she had taken advice from long ago and become a more open person. The ensuing friendship kindled fast, and Chokho now trusts few above Ennara.
C'kayah Tia - Interesting enough to watch, but nothing more. Chokho knows more about Kayah than she lets on, but doesn't see a reason to ruin a good secret. Shadow-skulking and a trial of half-hearted commitments have made Chokho extremely wary of C'kayah... even if he is nice to watch.
Lyuri Felnica - Considering her too aloof to form a deep friendship, Chokho believes that Lyuri is a genuinely good person deep down. She watches out for her, but very quietly.
Aldyet Lannis - Chokho and Aldyet have a history that goes back forth more than a pendulum. Vasque has helped Chokho appreciate Aldyet's kindness and sense of justice... even if she IS a bit too meek and apologetic.
Lilithium Altair - Initially drawn in by lust, Chokho was surprised and delighted to discover Lili's a playful sense of humor and a sharp mind. While a desire to discuss culture and philosophy quickly drew Chokho into infatuation, that dropped off as she they wouldn't be a good match.

Inspiration

While Chokho's IC musical influence mainly consists of sea shanties and drinking song, the OOC hand behind it all is a HUGE music fan. Here's a few things I use to help me into the mindset of my own character.
This Will be the Day - Often seen as meek and helpless, Chokho is always just waiting for the moment to spring. It helps that she genuinely wants to be hero, too.
Jago's Theme - On top of being from another tiger-themed character, this just fits combat too well. Even violence is controlled. It is meditative. It teaches.
I Burn - Chokho is rarely cocky enough to speak like this out loud, but being one step above the competition generally suits her. It helps that fire is a theme within her story.
You Know my Name - "If you think you've won, you never saw me change the game that we have been playing."
Catwoman Theme - As much as I appreciate rock, there is a gentleness to the character that can only done justice with strings for steps.
Honor and Pride - There is no possible deeper meaning to this. It just keeps me in an aware state of mind for Chokho almost constantly. Even when she's angry or sad - there is an underlying serenity.
Young and Naive - Pretty much Chokho's entire love life summed up in a single song.
