‘When all goes wrong, turn to a Salem’ is an old saying often heard in Western Thanalan. Nathaniel is one of those Salem. A long line of thaumaturges hailing from Salemtaza’s End, an old quay razed by the Calamity. Known for his deeds as a Priest of Nald’thal, and renowned for his extraordinary candor and sharp tongue, the man is a Royalist. Often referred to as "Father Salem", Nathaniel is good at what he does, and does what he considers good. He is often seen going the extra mile for his people’s sake.
Too tall to only bear Midlander blood, too broad and muscular to be only a mage, Nathaniel towers over most of his kin (Midlanders and solely Midlanders, according to himself), at six fulms and three ilms.
