Character

General

Dawson is unmistakably Gridanian; his obsession with the forest and what it has to offer has colored his entire perspective on life. Above all, Dawson treasures nature and wisdom, and he strives to learn as much as he can from the land and the experiences of his tribemates. When he met Rhesh'ir, Y'lyfriel, Tahla'li, and X'linwh in the Shroud and decided to leave the forest for the first time, it was clear that Dawson's life would change dramatically. As he travels, he still thinks of home and longs to wander the forest again, but he is starting to see the joys of the world outside of the Shroud.

Appearance

Dawson prefers simple robes and adornments; nothing flashy. He likes to traverse the wood barefoot so he can feel the earth beneath his feet, but sometimes he’ll put on sandals if the need is great. He is pretty unkempt from years of carefree outdoor living, but he has found that this matters little to most forest residents.

Behaviour

Dawson has experienced a great deal of love and loss in his life, and those events have granted him a sort of wisdom that defies his age. He is reflective, honest, and tries to see the deeper meaning in most things. However, his narrow view of the world up until now can sometimes seem alien and off-putting, depending on the subject. He is incredibly unsure of himself when placed in new and unmeasured situations.

Friends & Acquaintances ♥ Tahla'li Tayuun - Dawson feels a sense of responsibility for Tahla'li now that he has become a fledgling thaumaturge. He spends a great deal of time with the miqo'te to help encourage and oversee his growth. Tahl has been on his mind a lot lately, and he wasn't aware of just how much he felt until seeing him for the first time in what felt like ages in Coerthas. ♥ Y'lyfriel Sikah - Lyfriel is like a sister to Dawson. He feels a close connection to her and has confided in her more than anyone else in the group, save perhaps Tahla'li. It is her dedication and obsessive attention to the welfare of the tribe that has inspired Dawson to stay close. It may have taken some time and quite a bit of Lyf's encouragement for him to come around, but he feels that adventuring alongside her and the rest of the group might be his life's true calling. ♥ Rhesh'ir Zhwan - Dawson has learned more and more about Rhesh'ir and it's only deepened his respect for the bard. He's experienced so much loss in his life, but despite all odds, Rhesh'ir manages to smile through it all. And what a smile it is. Rhesh'ir's carefree demeanor is addictive, and he's better at breaking Dawson's icy exterior than almost anyone. ● Onuma Ahntifi - Onuma is a go-getter. Dawson admires her ability to tirelessly support Lotan'to as well as the rest of the tribe. Their recent heart-to-heart has demonstrated that Onuma's strength comes from how she has overcome grief in her past. He hopes to learn what he can from her experiences. ● Lotan’to Jiub - He doesn’t know Lotan’to well, but he knows that the jokester and his mate are inseparable. Lotan'to's actions during the Coerthas attack were admirable, and Dawson feels like he owes the man a great debt. ● Rah'na Lihzeh - Rah'na is the youngest in the group, and often, it shows. Dawson is surprised by this kit, however. His respect for Rah'na grew tremendously when he risked himself to pull Dawson to safety in the Coerthas attack. ● Kodaro Ba'rococo - It's been quite some time since Dawson and Kodaro have spent time together. He hopes to remedy this now that the tribe has been reunited. ● Erimmont Leguard - He respects Erimmont greatly for his devotion to Rhesh'ir's cause, as well as what Dawson feels is a deep understanding of his place in the world. He might come off as harsh to others, but Dawson thinks his demeanor is just a front. ● Mijisaa Qisaa - She is polite and incredibly intelligent. Dawson thinks of her and Pipi as reputable employers and hopes to prove that he and his tribe are worth their salt. Miji has been quite understanding given their current setbacks. ● Oliwat Kokiwat - Oliwat is light-hearted and well-spoken. He's open about his past and is always looking forward--a quality that Dawson respects deeply. He admires that Oliwat's found a way to continue the tradition of his family. ● Chesh'ir Lihzeh - Chesh'ir is bookish and fearful of combat, but it is clear to Dawson now that the arcanist has good intentions for the tribe. Without his timely use of magic, Dawson might have actually lost his legs. ● U'dahsh'a Nunh - Dawson is wary of Dahsh'a. He has proven himself to be an incredibly capable warrior and comrade--especially recently--but he is unsure of what to make of the lancer's past. He continues to carefully monitor the man. ● Pipituu Kipichuu - Pipichuu comes off as brilliant and a bit eccentric to Dawson. He is highly interested in the projects that Pipituu is working on and hopes to witness how they develop. ● Nazyl Tharazyl - He senses a determined spirit in the warrior that is impresses him. Perhaps at some point he will corner Nazyl and learn more. ● X'linwh Tia - Lin was an attentive student, a fearless defender, and an insatiably curious friend. Dawson will miss him dearly.

History/Timeline

Dawson discovered the rest of his "tribe" when he witnessed Tahla'li hunting near the southern cave. After several visits, Dawson grew close to his new group of friends, and they spent their days hunting, fishing, and telling stories around the fire.

Several weeks passed; eventually, it was decided that they should travel south to Thanalan so that Lin could return to Ul'dah. After much hesitation, Dawson decided to leave his homeland and join them on their journey. On their way south, they encountered Lin's tribe, who had become tempered followers of Ifrit. The party was forced to encounter the primal, but a dormant Echo inside of them shielded them from Ifrit's influence. They were able to defeat him, but at great cost. It took some time for them to recover, but eventually, they found their way to the Great Merchant City.

They spent many weeks in Ul'dah. Dawson helped Tahla'li to find the Thaumaturge Guild and begin his studies. He also rescued his chocobo Sylvain from a particularly cruel trader. Quickly after arriving in the Walled City, it was discovered that Rhesh'ir was considered a deserter by the Immortal Flames. He was made to stand trial for his crimes, but the tireless work of Erimmont, Lyfriel, and others gave him a strong case and his punishment was severely reduced. In celebration, Dawson and some of his dearest companions decided to leave the desert to explore and enjoy La Noscea. The trip to La Noscea was short, but Dawson was inspired by the land and what it had to offer.

After a brief trip, the troupe moved north to reunite with the rest of their tribe and were immediately set upon by dragons. Lin's death and the grave injuries of a few others has caused the tribe to suffer unimaginably.
