The son of a Dunefolks Lalafell, Ixion Quintox, and a Plainsfolk Lalafell, Oboju Noboju, two experienced mages which contributed to Zanzan's natural talent for magic. Born and raised in La Noscea, he lived among a lively and diverse environment with people of far-reaching cultures which in turn fed into his curiosity of the world and his open and welcoming demeanor after his experience with individuals from different walks of life. His life was relatively normal though worry came to his family when he began to show an unstable connection to the aether which began his training in the art of magic as a way to control it. However, his family's life took a turn as the Calamity hit, resulting in the death of Oboju during Zanzan's earlier years. Currently, he travels and explores the world, aiding any in search of need all the while taking up contracts to support himself and his family, and previously before, underneath the colors of the Immortal Flames. He hopes that one day he'd be able to settle down and find a new place for his family but currently, lives on the path of the road. However, he'll never stop in making Eorzea and the lands beyond a safe home for all. Appearance and Other Attributes A Lalafell of average height with wild, earthy brown hair. The most unique of his features are his green and blue eyes which are shared yet reversed with his twin sister. He often wears a warm and welcoming expression, meeting everyday with a smile. Sometimes refers to himself as "dashing". Many may assume that the Lalafell is young, if his appearance did not confuse the non-popotos already, due to his lively demeanor though his deeper and smoother voice immediately betrays that initial thought. He speaks with a light La Noscean accent (common in seafaring folk) though his usual manner of speaking is closer to that of a traveling bard, possibly contributed by his love for story-telling, poetry and extensive book reading. He commonly wears a large, weathered coat, which is interiorly lined with scales for added protection, hiding most of his physical features if his hat (or hats) hadn't accomplished that in the first place. Behaviour An open, friendly, and welcoming individual, greeting most individuals like friends, even if they were total strangers, a most commonly observed trait he had adopted from being raised by his father. However, this does not mean his is easily swayed and is naturally perceptive to emotions and behaviors which may be contributed by his curious and observant nature. He approaches most jobs with overwhelming optimism, at least, openly. While he has child-like energy, he meets most occasions with maturity and respect. Though that isn't to say that the Lalafell isn't completely in control of his emotions. One may find him stubborn in his philosophies and does not hold back on his expression of emotions whether display of sorrow relating to uselessness or one of anger due to dishonesty shown by his peers. Combat Some may call Zanzan both a talented and skilled mage. This is due to being born to parents with magical history and that his training in the magic arts began at a young age with his sister as a fellow peer. Though inexperienced before, his increasing work in the field has taught him to wield his own magic efficiently. He also wields a specially designed staff that could be unlinked into two scepters. In its full form, it is used for longer channeling and powerful spells while its split form is used for rapid casting of spells. However, he was born with an odd condition of aetherial instability that, while empowering his spells, have caused more harm to his body than good. While his sister has always demonstrated better control of aether, Zanzan struggles with it unless under complete mental clarity and focus. This becomes increasingly difficult, however, when under emotional stress. While being agile and dexterous on his feet simply through natural and trained development, he has recently gifted his father's old sword which he now intends to train with and use. His current mentor is Qara Hotgo, passing down her knowledge of swordplay along with the training of his physical strength and fortitude. The man was cheerful and out-going, meeting every passerby with a smile and friendly chat; one might say his hearty laugh can radiate an aura of warmth to nearby persons. However, Oboju was a mage, often diving into dangerous work as it comes with the nature of his job. In the end, some may say that it lead to his passing. As the Calamity struck all across La Noscea, he was rendered unable to rejoin his family after the destruction brought by Bahamut. "My Pa. Many say I take much from him. As the common saying goes, like father like son. I was just a young lad when he was taken from us and I... I just miss him so much. We all do..." ♥ Ixion Quintox – The mother of the twins. Not much is known about Ixi to the public aside from her name; not many even know of her family, and her experience as a mage. It can be said that this older lalafell, and mother of two children, is both stern and caring. After the Calamity, she immediately found work with several free companies in order to support Zanzan and Yanyan until they were mature enough to set off on their own path. You can say she has also found new love and recently married... to her job. '"Mum can be quite cold and stern sometimes but that is only because she worries and cares so much for Yanyan and I, you know? Wise and old as she is, don't tell her I said that, she loves adventures as much as we do. She still won't let me leave her library with one of her books..."' ♥ Yanyan Zanyan – Zanzan's twin and daughter of Ixi and Oboju. Yanyan shares much with Zanzan such as a love for travel and adventure, a friendly and welcoming nature along with a natural talent for in channeling the aether. Yanyan demonstrates a better ability to channel a stable flow of aether unlike her brother whose magic is potentially more powerful but unstable. "Yanyan and I are quite alike! We are twins afterall!" ♥ Qara Hotgo – An young Au Ra female from Othard, a Xaela; Zanzan's first meeting of their kind. Not only has Zanzan been captivated by her appearance and culture, he has also been enjoying her company. They have grown close with a love burning brightly and he hopes that they may weave their own story together. She has also peaked Zanzan's interest in learning more of the Au Ra. "Seven years ago, my family lost a home and a father to the Calamity but none comparable to what she lost in Othard... Her family, her tribe, her culture... Even with such a loss which have caused many to fall, she continues to fight with a burning and passionate heart that captured my own. I cannot imagine anyone else to be by my side to make this world just a bit brighter for those who have been shadowed by storms... and to share the comforts of peace with when they come. A tale of fire and thunder... Oh, and she is quite beautiful." ● Minara Noh – A lalafell who used to work for Oboju before the Calamity. A strong-headed individual, it is to no surprise that Oboju took her up as part of his crew. Due to her work with him, it would be no surprise that she would develop a relationship and bond with his family, including the twins. "Thank you for taking care of Pa on his trips. Drop by for dinner sometime." ● Miah Polaali – (Deceased) An old friend and adventuring comrade, Zanzan and Miah first met in the adventuring free company, the Gilded Dawn. They undertook several contracts together until Miah found it in herself to settle down and lead her clan as Matriarch of the Morbolvine Clan in which Zanzan assisted with. However, due to family conflicts and several bad dealings, Miah has now passed on. ● Kiht Jakkya – Matriarch of the Shroudwolves. After Zanzan was dismissed from the Morbolvine's clan grounds at the time of Miah's death, Kiht was kind enough to allow the Lalafell to stay with her own clan during his visit to Gridania and the Shroud. Zanzan considers her a good friend and ally. "Be safe out there, Kiht. A wolf shouldn't leave her cubs alone for too long." ● Kirkirik Tirtirik – Traveling companion. They both met as Zanzan was visiting his mother one night. Kirkirik, being polite and formal as ever yet again, has taken up a promise from Ixi to watch over her son while Zanzan appreciates the lalafell's company during his travels. "If I had not know any better, I'd guess you for a merchant prince!" ● Ninifae Nira – A Miqo'te scholar from the Shroudwolf Clan. She claims to have been a Lalafell once before though Zanzan is quite not sure he should believe such a story... yet. She has offered her assistance to Zanzan in order to aid him in better controlling his aetherial channeling and he hopes to learn what knowledge this scholar has. ● Nihka Mioni – A warm and kind-hearted Miqo'te from the Shroudwolf Clan who also cares for her cub, Sehki. She appears to enjoy Zanzan's telling of tales and treats the Lalafell almost like family. Zanzan hopes to learn a few songs from this Miqo'te of few words. ● Arala Makeo – A Miqo'te goldsmith and paladin whose family came from Ul'dah. Zanzan is inspired by both her dedication and honor in addition to her aspirations in life. The Lalafell has offered Arala his aid in any way possible in thanks for a custom-made one-of-a-kind pendant that he had gifted to Qara. Acquaintances ● Io Saar – A Miqo'te that Zanzan has crossed a few times at taverns. Treated her with many many meals. Oddly enough, he enjoys her company despite her inability to speak. ● Z'beexu Vhoz – A Sun Seeker Miqo'te who is both tall for her race and often wields a large axe. Zanzan has met her a few times through Io and Braxis and is constantly called a fatass Lalafell by her. Spunky and Spicy. ● Tatato Tato – A Lalafell arcanist. Both lalafells have worked together on the field, partaking in the same contracts involving places of historic knowledge or aetheric influences. Though their relationship was more revolving around business, perhaps a better friendship is ready to blossom. ● Braxis Wynterwulf – A Highlander Knight from Ishgard. They met and spoke in passing during a stop at the Drunken Moogle, and recently, in the borders of Coerthas. The Highlander shared stories of his fight against the dragons and peaked Zanzan's interest to further explore to Coerthas and maybe even Dravania. Perhaps one day, he will get to see the dragoon in action. ● Z'aidha Tia – A Miqo'te gamble and profession card player. Zanzan was offered a round of drinks by the friendly Miqo'te one evening in the Quicksand and the Lalafell offered his thanks in return with a warm meal. Perhaps a mutual friendship is in order! ● Khatar'sae Banchamek – A Miqo'te Pugilist that Zanzan had met alongside with Zaidha. The Lalafell had also offered a warm meal to this Miqo'te and perhaps will see each other once again. ● Therion Kator'to – A male Keeper Miqo'te. The current leader of the Morbolvine Clan following the death of its Matriarch. He aims to keep the clan's traditions strong and Zanzan has offered his help in any way possible. ● Meyla Sarka – A Keeper Miqo'te. Their first encounter was nearly a year and a half ago when the Lalafell and Miqo'te when they were once heavily involved in the activities of the Morbolvine Clan. Zanzan doesn't particularly like her new outlook on his friend, Miah, and oddly enough, had called him tasty. Enemies & Rivals ● Austurmax Laforet - A mysterious and shady Elezen.
