History

H'lanah was born in the Hah tribe of the Sagolii. Her mother ran off shortly after her birth with a Tia she had fallen in love with, leaving her to be raised by her tribe. She grew up to become a huntress, gaining experience hunting prey for food and materials even young, and proved to be quite talented. However, as a young teen she was out hunting small sandworms when a band of male mercenaries captured her. The mercenaries raped and abused the poor girl for hours on end, intending to return to Ul'dah to sell her into slavery after, but huntresses from her tribe found them and slayed the mercenaries, rescuing the poor girl.
Unfortunately since then, H'lanah was deeply traumatized and terrified of men, and couldn't even be near the nunhs and tias of her tribe. As she grew up to an adult she became more accustomed, somewhat, able to keep her nerve. Yet she neared the age to mate with her nunh and conceive children for her tribe, and found herself terrified to do. Her peers, even though they knew what happened to her as a child, didn't understand, and H'lanah's shame at being unable to mate with her nunh became so great she ran from her tribe. She fled toward Limsa, as she knew her mother had gone there with her Tia lover, seeking the only family she had left. Instead of her mother, she found her younger half-brother H'skori Tia, as her mother and her lover had already passed away.
Her half-brother took her in and the two became quick friends, and H'lanah, or Lanah as others began to call her, started to discover the world outside her tribe. She signed up with the Adventurer's Guild and put her skills as a huntress to use, earning herself a living taking odd jobs. One job in particular had her hunting down robbers for a Yellowjacket, and brought her into contact with the Rogue's Guild. She spent some time working for the Rogues and learning their ways, but eventually moved on to Thanalan with her half-brother. There, she met a highlander woman named Auriana Wynter. Lanah made a rocky first impression, though Auriana didn't hold it against her, and eventually the two worked together on a job to stop a protection racket in the Drybone area. There, Lanah witnessed Auriana's skills as a shinobi firsthand and asked Auriana to teach her.
While her interest was in improving her skills at first, it wasn't long before she became Auriana's student proper, and she came to look up to and admire Auriana, leading her to choose to take the path of the shinobi for herself. Over time she became more accustomed to the wider Eorzea, finding her passions whilst coming to terms with herself and her trauma, to a degree. From Auriana she also heard of the 81st, hearing the respect and care in her teacher's voice for the company, and this eventually led her to join the Maelstrom 81st Foreign Levy for herself. Before then, she worked her with her brother, taking on a job for an Ishgardian historian who had an interest in old battlegrounds, exploring and cataloging the sites.
Her start with the company was rocky to begin with, as on her very first mission the captain's bondmate met her demise. Lanah thought she would be shunned as others mourned, but she witnessed everyone's love for their fallen friend and how they welcomed her with open arms regardless, and it assured her that she was finally where she belonged.
Her training with Auriana continued, all the while she dedicated herself to the company and made many friends. Most recently, she's passed her trial to become shinobi and obtained the Soul of the Ninja, thanks to Auriana's guidance, though her training to improve her skills continues. One of the Lieutenants of the 81st has also asked her to be the navigator for the company's airship, leading Lanah to study quite a bit about crewing a ship and celestial navigation. While dealing with romantic turmoil, she was also currently considering returning to her tribe, to bear her nunh's child once and for all. Ultimately she changed her mind, as her heart was set straight and she entered a committed relationship with Auriana, and she found the highlander's happiness to be above all else in her own heart.

Behavior

In general, H'lanah is easy-going, often flirty. She's a bit of a smart-mouth, but more in terms of sounding clever than putting others down. She's fiercely loyal and tries to keep a cool head in combat, and doesn't tend to run away. Though she does have an inclination to prove herself, which can cause her to make mistakes or act recklessly.
Though she tries not to show it, she's a bundle of insecurities, quick to apologize for perceived slights and generally trying to stay on people's good sides.
While some may not understand, Lanah loves her tribe deeply, and she considers bearing the nunh's child to be an obligation or responsibility, but rather a wonderful joy she wants to share with her loved ones. Thus her shame at being terrified to be near a man was so great it drove her from home.

Combat/Abilities

Lanah's main talent in combat is wielding dual knives or daggers. She hunted with them since she was young and spent her lifetime honing her skills. She tends to favor padded armor for combat, with cloth underneath, while being flexible enough to move and jump around. Unlike her usual attitude, Lanah becomes serious in a fight, aiming to finish quickly and effectively, though she strives for perfection and this may cause her to stumble at times.
Since training with Auriana as a shinobi, she has learned to use aether to hide herself more effective, as well as form mudras to invoke various effects, as a ninja would.

Relations

Amorous Love Attraction Good Standing Neutral Standing Poor Standing
Jubal Satele  : Lanah's half-brother. Originally named H'skori Tia, he changed his name when he became an adventurer to have a fresh start with no expectations. Lanah doesn't really get it, so she just calls him H'skori anyway, and he deals with it. In the short time that they've known each other the two have grown to love one another as siblings do, taking care of and looking after each other while living their own lives.

Auriana Wynter  : Lanah's teacher. Lanah admires the highlander's dedication and found Auriana to be honest, loyal and deeply caring of others, even though she doesn't show it. From Auriana, Lanah learned of honor and strength, which eventually gave her the courage to make the decision to return to her tribe. As they got to know each other Lanah found herself caring more and more for Auriana, until she finally confessed her feelings to the highlander. Auriana refused initially, saying she needed to set her own heart straight, and Lanah now waited patiently for that day, to devote herself fully to the woman who means so much to her. That day finally came, when Auriana confessed her own feelings to H'lanah. The two vowed their love for each other and promised to be true to one another exclusively.
Lanah considers Auri to be the strongest person she knows, a steadfast friend who she can rely on always. More important she knows the highlander's softer side, seen how much she cares for others without asking for anything in return. Auriana has been Lanah's pillar of strength and role model for quite some time now and accepted the Seeker as she was. All that and more is what made Lanah fall in love with Auriana, and why she places the highlander's happiness above all else, and finds it easy to do whatever's necessary to keep her love happy. She trusts Auriana completely and surrenders herself to the woman, and her only wish is to be someone Auriana can see the same way.

Senelle Silverlight  : One of the first people Lanah met upon joining the 81st, she was initially attracted to the elezen's flirtatious nature. Upon spending more time with Senelle and getting to know her, she was smitten by the woman's selfless nature and dominant personality. She admires the woman's ability to care for so many others and help them with their burdens while asking for nothing in return. Lanah found herself deeply attracted to Senelle, and has stumbled a few times in her eagerness to get closer to the elezen.

Nesra Kajhir  : Senelle's friend, and something more that Lanah can't quite peg down. She offered to make outfits and lingerie for Lanah at Senelle's suggestion, and Lanah took her up on it. She finds the Keeper to be immensely cute and attractive and wouldn't mind getting to know her much more.

Brielle Ashenfist  : Lanah was originally impressed by this highlander's magical prowess, witnessing Brielle bring a spectacularly explosive end to some encounters on mission. Brielle later offered to teach Lanah the art of Thaumaturgy, though the Seeker put the offer on hold in favor of more carnal pursuits with the highlander. Since then, Lanah's gotten even closer to Brielle and considers her a deeply caring woman and a good friend, and was all too happy to help the highlander rescue her daughter.

Lynn'wo Vahnal  : Lanah considers Lynn'wo to be something of a dope, but an amusing one. She finds his mannerisms cute and thinks of him as a good person and friend, if silly at times.

Lihrit Lightfoot  : Senelle's son's sister, but also not Senelle's daughter, is how Lanah understand the confusing family relationship. Nevertheless she found Lihrit to be endearingly adorable and innocent, and quite flirty at the same time, and she would like a chance to get to know the girl more intimately.

Rahni Kajhir  : Nesra's sister who Lanah found to be charming and pleasant, as well as cute. She was impressed by the girl's inventions, capable of artificially replicating a shinobi's techniques.

Ferai Caolann  : Despite a rocky start to their relationship, involving someone calling someone else a dick, and someone pulling on someone's tail and getting kicked in the face, the two recently shared a pleasant conversation and made peace, even being friendly, after Ferai helped the injured Lanah.

Upa Zuvhe  : Initially introduced as Auriana's friend, though their meetings have been brief she finds Upa pleasant and kind, and very friendly. She has a lot of respect for Upa and would like to be closer friends, a feeling she assumes is mutual since Upa gave her a protection charm, which Lanah now treasures deeply.

Rhesh'ir Zhwan  : The captain of the 81st. Lanah was initially reluctant to approach him after his bondmate's death, but quickly warmed up to him. While she rarely sees the captain, she does find his attitude to be charming and fun, though she hesitates somewhat to try and start anything with him still.

Onuma Ahntifi  : One of the Lieutenants of the 81st, and one of the first people Lanah interacted with in the company. Onuma is calm and reliable, and Lanah very much looks up to the woman and wishes not to disappoint. After bonding at the beach one time, she also considers that Onuma looks cute in a dress.

Keaira Twinning  : Another Lieutenant of the 81st, Lanah's gotten fairly close to the midlander, though Twinning has refused all of Lanah's playful advances. Nevertheless, the Seeker enjoys being simply friendly with Twinning, and she's immensely fond of the woman who's trusted her by asking her to be the navigator for the company's airship.
