Chiyo Hoshi
Contents
Basic Info
- Chiyo has no memory of her real parents. Unlike many miqo'tes, she was not raised by a traditional tribal, but by a lone amailj'aa beastman named Gol. Gol raised Chiyo almost like any other father would, teaching her the basics of fighting, hunting and gathering. Because of this, though, Chiyo had some trouble fitting in with others, aside from her occasional crude behavior. When word got out by other beastmen who opposed of care-talking a miqo'te child, Gol was slain, and Chiyo was focus to set out on her own, almost like a refugee. It goes without saying that Chiyo doesn't entirely believe in traditional tribe culture, though mostly due to her sexuality and being a sun seeker, as well as being without on of her own for the longest time, to the point of being somewhat biased. Despite this, she is shown to be willing to open-up to those that do, so long as they accept her as well.
- It is revealed by her sister and grandmother that Chiyo once belonged to the Ebonclaw clan and was lost in a mining accident for over a decade. To this end, she sets out to learn more about her heritage.
- After an incident with Vylbrand Academy, Chiyo found her place in the New Conglomerate Free Company, then the Bastion.

Appearance & Personality
- Her hair and tail can be describe as 'fiery,' much like her hot-headed personality. Her skin is naturally tan much like her amber eyes. She is quite tall for a miqo'te with a fairly athletic build, showing her daily work-out. Her voice is also fairly deep. Almost masculine. She has a small scar on her nose and a another larger one on her back.
- Hard-headed, crude, independent but caring and light-hearted. Chiyo is best describe as tomboyish. In fact, she is not very different than some men out there, especially with her sexual orientation. Because she never had a proper education save for the mentor ship of her foster father (and eventually, the pugilist guild) Chiyo isn't very intelligent and often forgets about her manners. She is also occasionally clumsy and unprofessional. Over time however, she is learning to at the very least be more responsible, especially the needs of her allies. Chiyo does not describe herself as a hero, nor does she like being called as such, but is on the century masking a sense of justice. Her demeanor can swap from seemingly carefree to more serious at the giving situation. On rare occasions, Chiyo can be a tend emotional, especially when her love ones are involved. She knows the world is harsh, but strives to be the best person she can be.
Biography
Childhood
A life without any real parents can be difficult, but to Chiyo, the only real 'parent' she had was a beastman. It doesn't help when being care-taking by an amailj'aa wasn't considered normal, but whether by skill skillful parenting or sear luck, it was made possible. In Gol's case, he was like almost any other father-gather to Chiyo, only a little harsher. Gol was fairly strict about making Chiyo strong, even going as far as to threaten to not feed her or even leave her behind if she was too weak. He would often push Chiyo to her limits in order to prove her worth. The young miqo'te was able to deliver. Barely. It was a time Chiyo found herself crying the most, only to be be left with little comforting or even slapped upside the head by her 'daddy.' Overtime however, she was able to adapt and evolve, and was able to form a semi-typical father-daughter relationship. Because Gol was a beastman however, Chiyo had very little friends growing up and was considered somewhat of a problem child to other children.
Teens
At the age of 15, Gol was slain by the other beastmen for forsaken the Lord of the Inferno, living Chiyo to fend for herself in Ul'dah. She did had previous ventures in the city, but was unable to get very far without adult supervision, and obviously, Gol wasn't allowed in there. By that part however, Chiyo was considered 'mature' enough to gain her own citizenship there, so it wasn't a problem. This is where she gained most of her social skills, though it still took her time to fit in among society, and even had trouble in the law. She did managed to work a few part-time jobs to support herself. She also enrolled in the Pugilist guild to farther her training.
Adulthood
Chiyo worked with New Conglomerate of the Goblet for a good while and for the most part had made a much better name for herself, making valuable friends within the smaller company, all while fighting bandits, assassins, asicans, and even primals, all while learning valuable lessons. She then branched out to the Bastion of the Mist with her half-sister, though off to a rocky start.
After surviving the fight against Ifirt for the first time, Chiyo realized she is 'echo' gifted, meaning she cannot get tempered. This also allows her to (barely) understand other vocal languages. She very rarely has visions of the past however.
She became the Grindstone champion all while being forced to wear maid uniform, and has (regrettably) earn the title, 'Maid of Battle.'

Combat
- Chiyo excels in pugilism and prefers to fight hand-to-hand, but is also quite handy with an axe or knives. When it comes to combat, she is more serious and disciplined. She can be pretty quick to jump into the fiery and even be threaten. Depending on who or what she's fighting, she can fight honorable or dirty. Chiyo would normally respect her opponents but is not above using "cheap" tactics as a last resort, or if she truely dislikes them. While she has the will to kill, Chiyo is usually reluctant to do so, despite seeming otherwise, and would often at least think about sparing (though exceptions vary). She trains almost everyday and has dreams of becoming a strong pugilist, hoping to transcend to monkihood. Chiyo always wraps her tail firmly around her waist when in combat.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- In terms of martial prowess, Chiyo is no slouch. Her self-motivation as well as her time spent training has made her strong. Being a wanderer of Tharalan, she is fairly knowledgeable of the desert. She is a hard-worker and can withstand up to eight hours of manual labor. She is also very loyal to her friends and comrades. Chiyo is also 'gift' by the echo, though besides being immune to primal temperament, she does not fully understand it and considers it a curse if anything.
- However, her recklessness and pride can be self-destructive. Although she is willing to help others, she often refuses help from others, be it out of cockiness, trust, or self-burden. She favors her own strength, perhaps too much. This also cause her to over-work to a point where she tires herself. Although skilled in combat, she can sometimes be predictable. Chiyo is also fairly naive and only slightly unintelligent, making her near impossible to learn magic as is even if she wanted too, or understand it. Socially, while usually kindhearted, her manners are sub-par at best and she has little regard for personal space.
